Chapter 33:

Betrayal Part 2

Veil of the Shadow Hunter

The clash of steel and the roar of battle filled the Domain of the Twelve as Leegna and Yuj faced off amidst the chaos. The Time Guardians, caught off guard by the sudden betrayal and the appearance of their supposed ally, fought with a mix of confusion and rage. The room was a maelstrom of flashing blades and swirling shadows, each Guardian a fierce opponent in their own right.

Leegna's heart raced, not only from the exertion of battle but from the nagging suspicion gnawing at him. Yuj, once a mentor and guide, now revealed himself as one of the Twelve Guardians. The weight of this revelation pressed heavily upon Leegna's shoulders, but he steeled himself. The ring's power pulsed against his skin, and his dark blue eye glowed with the intense energy of his precognition.

In the midst of the skirmish, Leegna's gaze fixed upon Yuj. He noted the creature's confident demeanor, the way he seemed almost detached from the battle around him. It was clear to Leegna now that Yuj had manipulated him from the very beginning.

Without warning, Leegna turned his focus to Yuj, his intent clear. He moved with a decisive grace, powered by the third level of his ring, the Velvet Shroud, which had transformed into a cloak that rippled and shifted with his every motion. The cloak allowed him to bind the laws of material and physical reality, giving him an edge over Yuj's ethereal form.

Yuj, caught off guard by Leegna's sudden assault, was forced to defend himself. The battle between them was intense, each combatant matching the other's skill and power. As Leegna's attacks landed, the other Time Guardians, regrouping from their fight against the remaining allies, turned their attention to Yuj. They had suspected his betrayal, but seeing it in action only heightened their resolve to eliminate him.

The Guardians' combined assault on Yuj was swift and fierce. Shadows coalesced into solid forms, celestial beings flared with divine energy, and magical forces erupted around the traitor. Despite the Guardians' overwhelming power, Yuj was a formidable opponent, using his own skills and powers to deflect and retaliate.

Leegna fought with a renewed determination, driven by the knowledge that this battle was not just for survival, but for the truth and the future. Yet, as he battled fiercely, a strange sensation washed over him. Something felt off, as though reality itself was slipping through his fingers. In a sudden, disorienting moment, Leegna caught glimpses of something beyond the battle, beyond even the realm he was fighting in.

A figure appeared before him, ethereal and imposing, with a calm smile that sent chills down his spine. The figure's voice echoed around the chamber, both soothing and menacing. "Nice try, human," it said, its tone a blend of mockery and gravity. "But you need to learn the difference between a dream and a real scene—past or present, or even the future. You are not the one. Hence, I am the one to show you a fraction of my power."

With a wave of his hand, the figure seemed to unravel the very fabric of the battlefield. Time twisted and shifted, the chaotic scene blurring into an incomprehensible haze. The Guardians and their allies, along with Yuj and Aternos, were all swept into the distortion. The fight, the tension, and the struggles vanished as though they had never happened.

Leegna, disoriented and struggling to maintain his footing, found himself abruptly back on the first floor of the tower, the Mirrors of Reflection. The arena of battle had been nothing but an elaborate illusion, a test designed by the master of the realm. Yuj and Aternos were left bewildered, their memories of the fight erased by the master's manipulation.

Leegna, however, retained the memory of the encounter, the master's words lingering in his mind. He was left alone, facing the reflective mirrors that had witnessed his struggle and confusion. The realization hit him hard: the true power of the Time Guardians and their master was far beyond anything he had anticipated.

As the echoes of the master's voice faded, Leegna stood amidst the silence, his resolve hardened by the revelation. He knew now that the real battle was only just beginning, and the stakes had never been higher.
