Chapter 440:
Rose Blumen - Exogignesthai 1
(Rose)
The landscape had grown bigger around me.
It reminded me of happier times, as I walked alongside a flower or a bird.
Because I’m getting better.
In my slump, my focus and what I could see of the world faltered and shrank.
My curled up mind was left with the small space inside of me for all scenery.
As I got better, I could see farther and farther again.
Almost as far as when I rode the dragon, while still on the ground.
We’ve crossed over a chain of mountains that I believe were Ural. I’m not entirely sure.
I missed Moscow that’s pretty fair.
We walked along endless lands, out of time. That feeling came back heavily onto me. That it’s as if I had travelled back ten or twenty thousand years back in time. The land looks wild, clean, untouched. Most of the time, I can’t spot anything human made, whilst wildlife is doing fine all around us.
The old world never looked altogether as old nor as fresh.
A land where humans never were.
It’s a different nostalgia from the usual one, when you wander across ruins. A different shade of nostalgia.
I enjoy it better with Blume by my side though and now.
R - I ended up feeling lonely. That wasn’t really a surprise.
B - You’re mostly human after all.
R - That’s well put.
B - In more ways than one, right?
I grin at the obvious. That is quite right yes.
The sky is high above us. Clear. There’s wind, and the last shreds of a fog above a bog in the distance.
I can guess a road was here or there in the distance. We head eastward and still slightly south if there’s a call to make.
I’m healing faster and flesh regrew over me easily thanks to her.
R - The roots out of me helped a lot, didn’t they? I don’t quite remember anything like that happening before.
B - I did that a few times in the past to various extents. It’s easier if you have more time to work. Easier for me.
R - Difference of speed, between blood metabolism and sap metabolism I guess?
B - Pretty much. I could be a surgeon if we have to, but being a botanist will always be my preferred choice.
I looked at my right arm and its darker skin colour. Surgery against botany, hm...
R - So many weird things occurred...
B - What did you have in mind just now? What’s with your skin?
R - I was thinking about the third Licht and how she insanely hurried someone to transplant a new arm onto her. She felt she had no time to spare to go for the botanic option I guess...
She had her pride, and it fell down. She was in panic, but dutiful. It’s been hard.
R - It also made me a little bewildering. Because all the roses as myself, and so the Licht as well, we’re like variants of a same persona, or individuals from a same sub-race. Zes saw us, and some beings-like-you as well, like individuals of a distinct species in a way.
B - The species of the roses?
R - Of the Rose Blume, or Blumen. But anyway, as it was like meeting eine doppelgängerin, I was thinking that despite all of the crazy things, I might have done the same if I were here... Or hopping... Thinking of myself and her as variants, made me feel a little... odd.
B - The mindless roses were born as slaves. You weren’t.
R - What we were created for didn’t change much of who we are.
B - only because that god didn’t try to do a better job.
R - I don’t know if that would have been better if they had no memory.
Blume remained quiet for a little while. She also has strong ambivalent feelings about what they all were and all that happened.
R - Don’t worry. I was only thinking about it, noticing the colour of the skin on my arm. That’s all.
B - I like that it bugs you more than a talking flower growing over yourself.
R - I think I appreciate that too.
~
Everything that happened... Since we first met, was like chaos.
B - Some good things can grow out of chaos.
R - Exactly.
There’s a short saying a friend told me once that I just love and can’t get out of my mind now.
R - There’s chaos in life, and we both like it.
B - Ti’s cute.
R - Ti’s my life, since you’re in it. Thank you little flower...
I remember her dark silhouette, one like many others.
But this one was a friend. And this one on me was a lover.
R - Compared to all that, these landscapes are quite oddly peaceful.
B - You think it lacks chaos around here?
R - Hm... I would rather say I miss it. I feel more alive when there’s chaos or strife in sight.
I can’t really blame the third Licht for what she did to her arm, when I was summoning a vengeful demon the other day because of my boredom.
R - The more I think about it, the more I think it’s good that you’re back.
B - My goodness Rose. You’ll make me blush.
R - Teasing little one. Would your petals go pink?
B - Bright red. Blood red.
Nothing but passion, or fun about it.
But it’s not only about affection.
R - Because more than once, you were the careful one of us. We were both new, unsure of how to behave in this world. You were cautious, I became wild.
B - You’ve always been wild.
R - Not quite as I now am. I might have been making myself look delicate in my youth, but I wasn’t the same... Well... you understand what I mean, right?
B - You were a bud.
R - That’s an interesting way to phrase it.
B - I know you enjoy flowery metaphors Rose.
R - I do. And I like that one. In this world, roses thrive.
B - Wild Rose.
R - Wild Rose Blume.
We chuckle about ourselves. It’s childish, but it’s fun;
We’re wild flowers. I like that.
Blume’s wild autonomous nature, when she lets herself grow without constraints, it can become a jungle, with enormous flowery shapes and things, tall as trees, immense trees or mushrooms or flesh.
I wonder if we should try bringing new species around here?
No, probably not. Other areas of the world are already wild enough. If Russia was spared from the ravages of T.I. mostly, let’s leave it that way in peace.
We’ll encounter some other consequences of chaos sooner or later.
All the while, we enjoy travelling this endless land together.
