Chapter 14:
Falling for the Priestess
After a couple hours of sleep, Thalia woke to something soft and warm on either side of her face. It was so comfortable there that she didn’t want to move and instead buried her face further into the soft surface she was resting on. She was tired but slowly opened her eyes anyways. When she cracked them open she expected to see sunlight, but instead it was around sunset. She must not have been sleeping as long as she thought. She blinked her eyes a few more times, why was her pillow moving up and down? She rubbed her eyes. Warmth rushed to Thalia’s face as she realized where she was sleeping. The soft pillows were none other than Alara’s bouncy and supple breasts.
Though the two had done things much less innocent than this she was still getting used to being like this around Alara. After a second of being flustered, Thalia settled back in. Alara’s chest was really comfy. Thalia looked at her lover’s sleeping face and thought, “She’s so gorgeous when she’s sleeping.” She rubbed Alara’s cheek gently, and soon her emerald green eyes fluttered open. When their eyes met she gave her an innocent smile.
“Good morning… I mean goodnight? How are you beautiful?”
“I’m alright. I’m still tired, but I think we need another bath. Right?”
“Probably, but I don’t want to stop cuddling like this. It feels really comfortable.”
“Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relaxed. Is it ok for us to be like this?”
“Yeah I mean we don’t have to do anything else right now,” Alara reached for Thalia’s face with her left hand. She noticed the new mark between her thumb and forefingers. She shot up, knocking Thalia off her chest.
“What’s going on Alara?! You almost dumped me on the floor!”
“Look at your left hand.”
Thalia looked down. Her hand was now adorned with the sign she had been seeing in her visions. “You know what this means right, Alara?”
“Your visions were correct! So, we are true mates. Does that mean I can call you my wife then?”
Thalia blushed. She wouldn't have a problem with that. The only thing around was Yotaro and they seemed to have taken a liking to Alara anyways. The thought of being a princess's partner though was still odd considering Thalia's connection to the royal family. On the other hand, the thought of sleeping in the same bed as Alara everyday was extremely enticing considering what happened earlier. “Oh no, I'm becoming a pervert like Alara!”
Since Alara was already up, she leaned over and lovingly pressed her lips to Thalia's. The two instantly felt the difference. With that Small touch, sparks were flying and it was a if they were the only two alive in the world. It was an unreal sensation.
Alara scooped up her lover and started carrying her out of the small house. Thalia nervously chuckled, “Ummm, princess where are you taking me. Did you forget that we aren't wearing clothes?”
Alara flashed Thalia a charming smile, “I'm taking us to the bath. We are the only two here. Let me treat you like a princess.”
Before Thalia would have resisted, but now she was completely smitten and instead wrapped her arms around Alara's neck and rubbed their noses together for an eskimo kiss. “Ok, I leave myself in your hands.”
Alara trotted out of the house and confidently started heading towards the bathhouse. The roads were dirt, unpaved with an occasional sharp rock jutting out of the ground. Of course Alara who had only walked barefoot in grass was unaware of such hidden hazards, so she didn't bother looking down as she walked. About 100m from the bathhouse, a sharp pain shot up her left foot. Both women let out a yelp as Alara staggered to the ground.
“Did you just step on something sharp,” Thalia asked with a face full of stress.
“Ow. I definitely did. How did you know?”
Thalia turned her hand to face Alara. Their new mark was glowing. “I felt it.”
“You what? Like for real?”
“Yes. It was like my own foot was getting stabbed.” Thalia pulled a sharp stone out of Alara’s foot, then began to heal her lover’s wound.
“I didn’t realize that true mates shared their pain.”
“They don’t. I’ve seen a few pairs in my time and none of them were like this. Maybe it’s because we are both powerful mages. Or maybe it’s because we shared stuff with each other telepathically. Who knows? But one thing for sure this is probably bad news for us. Since I’m immortal I experience some pretty brutal and painful injuries. If you did, you would die.”
“Oh shit! I guess we are going to need to be really careful until we figure out what’s causing this.”
“Yeah for sure. Now get up. I’ll carry you the rest of the way my queen. “
Alara got up then Thalia swept her off her feet and carried her into the baths. In an instant, Thalia filled the tub and heated the water. Instead of putting Alara down, she kissed her hard before tossing her into the warm water. She landed with a splash and started laughing. “I’ll get you for that Thalia! She moved the water under Thalia’s feet making the brunette lose her balance and fall into the water as well. She emerged and began splashing Alara with water. Before long the two were engaged in a playful splash battle. Both women were laughing and having fun, and appeared to be a happy and close couple.
After the splashing died down, Thalia started washing Alara’s hair. “What are we going to do now? Like what’s the plan after we leave here?”
Thalia continued running her fingers through Alara’s beautiful long hair. “I think that we should continue moving to the lower levels. You need to refine your control of water magic so we can fight safely if we need to, but I think we should avoid fighting as much as possible just in case someone gets the jump on me. Sound ok?”
“Yes it does. And Thalia, come here.” she turned around and pulled Thalia in for a sweet kiss.
“What was that for?”
“I just felt like it.”
“Hmm ok, then I’d like another.” Alara kissed her one more time, this time more passionately.
“That a better kiss?”
“Mmmm, yeah. But I don’t think I can ever get enough of that.”
“Now it’s your turn to get your hair washed. Turn around.” After a few minutes the pair was all washed and dried. They returned to Thalia’s house and re-dressed themselves. By this time the sun had fully set and the overwhelming darkness of the town left visibility low. There was one last thing that Thalia wanted to do before the pair needed to sleep.
“Alara, you wanna see why they made that statue of me in the town square, and why they call me the priestess?”
“Yeah I’d love that.”
“Just promise me you won’t pick on me after this, ok?”
“I swear on my honor as a princess.”
“Ok come on,” Thalia offered her hand. Alara took it without hesitation.
In the pitch black dark, Thalia led Alara to the statue. She hadn’t noticed the torches that stood beside the statue before. For a split second Thalia’s eyes turned red and the torches lit. The glow of the fire was enough to cast dark shadows onto the dirt 10 ft in front of the statue. Thalia used earth magic to make a chair for Alara and sat her down.
“Ok, so a long time ago I used to perform this ceremonial dance during the harvest moon. After about a decade of this people started coming to me to offer prayers, and seek advice from Elis. They call this the ‘Dance of Moonlight Priestess.”
Thalia began to twirl around sending spikes of ice flying in the directions of her arms as she moved fluidly through the air. She had the grace of an angel as she danced. Alara was captivated by her partner’s movements, but after a few minutes the dance was over and a giant lotus made of ice was left behind, which was even more impressive.
“After seeing a performance like that I can see how people would mistake you as something divine. Honestly, I’ve never seen anyone use magic to create things like this. You’re so amazing Thalia, and on top of that you can dance so beautifully. I’m not sure why you thought I would make fun of you for that. Geez.”
“It’s just because it’s the opposite of my personality now. I am much more dark than I once was. I no longer am as artistic is what I mean, and I can’t dance as carefree as I once did. I’m glad you liked it. I think we should try to get some rest before we head out in the morning.”
Alara grabbed her lover’s hand and gave it a squeeze, “I don’t know what you were like before, but the person you are now is the one that I care about. You never have to apologize to me for the way you are. I know it was just a moment, but I truly felt the pain you experienced when Elias died. If I felt even a percent of what you did when that happened it would ruin me, yet you are still standing. You still laugh. You still smile. You joke. You play. You are so full of kindness. You are the most amazing person I have ever met. Please don’t be sorry for being afraid of being too sensitive and being unable to go back to the way you were before your pain.” Alara hadn’t noticed but she had been slowly moving closer to Thalia, and wmoreas now just centimeters away from her face. Tears were streaming down Thalia’s face, but they weren’t tears of sadness. What Alara said moved her to tears. As if to solidify their feelings, the two kissed gently than they ever had as the torches suddenly went out.
