Chapter 2:

Chapter 3: Into the Cave of Shadows

The Love I Never Confessed

The world had changed—power awakenings were now the new normal. One by one, students across the academy discovered their hidden strengths, unlocking unique abilities and elemental forces. But not Takumi Erevan Knox. He remained powerless... or so everyone thought.

Now studying at his third academy, Shinra High, Takumi felt like an outsider. His physical strength was average at best, and in a world where mystical powers determined status, he was seen as weak. Still, he endured. Quietly. Patiently.

Today was different. Students were being sent on their first real mission—an E-ranked raid inside a goblin cave, meant to test their teamwork and courage. Each squad was given a team of three and a commander to guide them.

Takumi was assigned to Squad 7, along with Afiya Yukari, a sharp and confident fighter, and Mahi Renshō, a calm and strategic mind. Their squad commander was Commander Nirmal Daizen, an elite B-ranked warrior known for his mid-range combat style... and his prideful attitude. From the beginning, Takumi didn't like him—and the feeling was mutual.

As teams prepared for the raid, Squad 7 stood near the entrance of the dimly lit cave. Thick fog curled at the cave’s mouth like a warning. The atmosphere felt off, but no one paid attention.

Just as Squad 7 was about to enter, Commander Daizen gave Takumi a cold look—and without warning, shoved him forward.

“Don’t slow us down, weakling,” he muttered as Takumi stumbled ahead.

Takumi gritted his teeth but didn’t respond. He took the first steps into the cave.

But the moment Commander Daizen followed—he froze.

His experienced senses picked up something terrifying. The cave’s aura… it wasn’t E-ranked. It wasn’t even C or B. It was something far more dangerous. A-ranked... maybe higher.

His eyes widened in horror.

“Takumi!! Get out of there—NOW!!” he shouted.

But it was too late.

A rumble echoed. A gust of energy surged. And with a deafening slam, the cave entrance sealed shut behind Takumi.

Darkness swallowed him whole.

Takumi turned around, pounding the stone door. "HEY! LET ME OUT!"

No response.

His breath quickened. His fists clenched.

Trapped. Alone. In a cave meant to kill experienced warriors. And he was just… him. Powerless.

Or so the world believed.

But something deep inside Takumi Erevan Knox had started to stir.

Something ancient.

Something… waiting
