In the summer of 1942, the battleship USS Castle was sunk by an Imperial Japanese Navy submarine in the deadly waters of the South Pacific. All hands onboard were presumed lost. But three days later, Marine sergeant Scotty Skultiere washed ashore on a forgotten beach in the Soloman Islands. He was half-drowned, burning with fever, and clutching a skull-shaped ring made of black bone. As the locals nursed him back to health, the marine recounted wild nightmares of an underwater temple, a profane pact sworn over a dark altar, and a dread god with the head of an octopus.
Vowing revenge on those who killed his men, Skultieri prowled the waves as the fearsome pirate Sgt. Skulltaker, bringing death and terror to the Imperial Navy during World War 2. Gifted with enhanced physical abilities and the power of fear itself, he sent scores of enemy ships to the god beneath the waves – before vanishing in a climactic battle with Commodore Komoto!
Did You Know: Sgt. Skulltaker was trapped in a state of suspended animation by a sentient coral reef for two decades before he was rescued by the Omega Legion.
