Prologue

“The world will cease to exist in a year” a thought i was having in my math class while looking far in the distant from the window. I am hiro ishida, 17 years old a high school student. Someone who don’t have any specific goal in life. Just living my life, you know with so called go with flow, I guess.

well, nothing crazy. Just the average.

Friends?

I do have friends it’s not like i am too much anti-social or anything.

Ideology?

I am bit of a realist. I mean i do enjoy realistic ideology that actually talks about real people or have a real consequence.

Any crush?

I did have a crush on someone but she was out of my reach. I wasn’t some coward who never tried to approach her.

So, did i confess to her?

Answer is no, why? because didn’t have enough confident in myself. Maybe i was too much of a coward. Well i didn’t regret it though. Because later i found out she was dating multiple guys at the same time without a shame. At some point i realized her real face. I mean i was a “friend” with her since we were in the same class. Not like those dumb MC in every manga with inferiority complex. Basically, not your average loser. Slowly i lose interest in her and moved on. I was too honest with my feeling. I always believed that you don’t need many friends you just need few who will come to you when you will need them the most. That’s why i had many fake friends but only few real friends.

Enough about my introduction. Let’s start with main event...

I was always a day dreamer. Well mostly because i get board to easily. So, i was looking at the window and thinking to myself “What if the world will cease to exist in a year” what will i do when that happen. I mean it’s not like i will know immediately. While i was thinking that...

Suddenly my desk is starting to shake slowly. At first i thought it was an earth quick but than everything was shaking. Our class was actually at top floor of the school building. We all thought it was an earthquake. So, we all took shelter under our desk. Unlike everyone who were panicking under their desk. For some reason i was calm. Maybe i was too excited or maybe i was thinking many reasons at the same time. I was trying to call my older sister but no response. Then i tried to call my mom’s number but then i realized that earthquake is going on for more than five minutes. It’s already surprising that the building didn’t collapse. But than there was sudden silence. We thought it was over but...

Boom!

It was so loud every window glass got shatter. We were panicking girls were crying. I was running around helping everyone moving out of the building. Yes, i was because i was the only guy in the school who had some level of sense but also because i actually had a training in emergency situation.

Why a boring guy like myself?

Because i thought it would become useful someday and also because i am realist.

Whatever the reason is i and some other guys who had some sense and student council and some teachers were able to successfully help the student evacuate to the safe place. But we still didn’t know what happen?

We are all standing at the school courtyard, i was looking at my phone searching in my phone for any update on what just happen.

For context let’s talk about which year, time and technology we are in!

Well, it’s year 2032. Technological development not much different from last 30 years. But space travel did have high level of success rate. But not commercial yet. Basic level of economic structure is still capitalism. But more and more nation adopting social economic structure. Because capitalism gone wrong and many nations adopting universal education, healthcare, job securities, housing, human right, social securities, universal market pricing etc.

So back to the looking at the update. Latest update is earth sized asteroid is approaching but it was considered safe because it was far from actually colliding with our planet. But the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released update that unfortunately it collided with another asteroid which caused its orbit to shift in the direction of our planet. So basically, we only had a year to prepare for a complete destruction of our home planet.

So, what is the reason for all this earthquake and everything that happen?

First let’s call the earth sized object “Big Daddy” and the object that collide with the big daddy let’s called that “Toddler”. When the toddler collided with big daddy it accelerated toddler speed. So, it was moving so fast that no near-earth observatory was able to catch it and the result was the moment toddler got into earth atmosphere its broke down in many chunks of pieces and crash down in many parts of the earth. Most of the pieces crashed into sea but some of them crashed in ground which cause many destruction and earthquake. The nation i am from got hit with one near the sea and one in the ground.
