Chapter 6:

Chapter 6: The Cat who just can't die

Soldier Clasess

School was over which only meant one thing to Mallory: going home.

After school was over Mallory did what she did yesterday which was took the bus home.

When the bus reached her apartment Mallory stepped off the bus and began to head home but while she was walking she came across a cat. Mallory ignored the cat but the cat followed Mallory. When Mallory turned her back she noticed that the cat she walked over was right behind her.

"Why is this cat coming close to me?" she asked herself. As she hold the main door of the apartment she could hear the cat say something.

"Can I live with you?" the cat tells her.

Mallory pinched herself and says in her head, "Oh my God! the cat talked to me? No way. I have to be dreaming because no freaking way I can hear an animal talk."

"You heard me right?" the cat asked her.

"Are you possessed?" Mallory asked her.

"No I can always talk, I'm good at reading human books and can understand humans pretty well." the cats tells her.

"Who are you? and what do you want from me?" Mallory asked

"My name is Jada. I was born in the late 19th century." the cat tells her.

Mallory spit on the grass after hearing this. "Now way. Now damn way are you that old you barely look older than my brother."

"Yes, I am that old. You see I was born in the late 19th century and where I had six sibling and was raised by my mother and father but everything changed one day when I was sold off to a bunch of farmers in Waynesville because my human owners can't afford to keep all of us.

Farming was lovely I spend a lot of time with the family really well and through that I began to learn about human knowledge and practice talking to humans so I can be able to actually do it.

But there was one decision that messed up my entire life you see the entire family left for vacation and I was traveling around town myself, and I walked all around to a lake and i decide to jump in it because I've always wanted to see what it's like to be in the water, and i found myself drowning. I screamed for someone to help me but nobody showed up at all. But soon someone did, and it was not an ordinary person it was an agent of death.

"Sorry Jada I believe your time here on earth is over. It's time to head to heaven know." the person responded to me.

"But I don't want to die at all especially not here. My owners would be worried if they found out I was here." I told that person.

"Does it look like i give a damn?" the person replied.

"Well but how would you feel if you had a family of your own. A family that's expecting you to be home but you weren't?" i told the person.

The person stared at me and had something up their pocket, they began to took it out and show me it.

"What's that?" I asked that person.

"It's not of your business, you got that?" the person replied.

I was eager to figure out what it was so I pushed the person and collected the thing they wanted to keep a secret from me.

It was a a portion bottle which read "Immortality Bottle".

"Where in Sam Hill did you found this?" I asked the person.

"Some idiot tried to make this so they can live forever, but they accidentality poised themself in the process. So when it came for his soul to be taken I was sent to take his soul away." the person told me.

"That's what you do for a living?" I asked her.

"Yes, my name is Michelle. My job is to take the souls and send them to the afterlife." she told me.

"But why? like I don't want to die. I want to live a long life on earth." I told her.

"You're likely going to be dead by 20 since you're a cat why should you care about it?" Michelle asked me.

"Because I don't want to be seen a just to normal regular cat. I want to live a long life on this earth like the average human would." I told her.

Michelle death glared me in response, "You know humans don't have it easy either, there's war and tragic events happening everyday and it's usually not their fault."

"But what does that mean for me?" I asked her.

"You should accept your fate." she told me, she grabbed a scythe that was next to the side of her rob and began to rise it slowly on me, and as she was doing this I looked at the "Immortality Bottle" in her pocket. I jumped up high and reached the bottle.

She found out quickly, so I opened it up as quickly as i could and drank it.

"Oh God! No! Why the hell did you do this? Did you know what you've done?" she screamed.

"What?" I responded.

"It means that not only are you immortal you're going to stay the same height and age forever so you won't even bother celebrating your own damn birthday." she screamed at me. "Do you know what being immortal does to you?"

"What does it do to me?" I asked her.

"It means you're going to see everyone you meet come and go as in you're going to watch everyone you ever knew or going to know die!" she screamed.

This hurt my heart, while I myself won't die early I'm going to see everyone around me going to die right in front of my very own eyes.

Tears came out of my eyes as a result of this.

"Yeah you should've chose to just die. It would've been way better for you." Michelle says to me.

After that day I head home and waited for my family to return.

However day after day they never came. And some as a result I felt that it was time for me to move on and head into the big world.

My first job was working as a librarian in Burns until the great depression happened, then I became jobless and lived outside since I could not pay for shit.

After that was all over I went to live in Cleveland for a baking shop. The shop was huge when World War 2 hit because people needed to buy some of their food. I mastered cooking really well like and actual chef. But then in 1986 someone burned the shop down and the shop closed as a result which meant for me it was back to square one.

I now went to a town called Tokyotown where I resided for a very long time. The town was a Japanese city in an American town and that's what I have always loved it for. The restaurants were marvelous and the community is welcoming."

"Did you get to read a lot of manga there?" Mallory asked.

"I don't really care about anime or manga but i have always enjoyed Japanese culture while living in Tokyotown," Jada tells her, "As i was saying but one day in my apartment got a new owner who didn't like animals so as a result they kicked me out because only humans are allowed to have an apartment now. Since i didn't have enough money at the time to rent a new apartment I went to a nearby town called Hillen to look for a place to stay. And that's where we are now."

"What the hell?" Mallory stuttered as she walked into the apartment building.

"Hey Wait!" Jada grabbed Mallory's pants as she was trying to reach Mallory.

"Why are you on my pants?" Mallory asked her.

"I need a place to stay." Jada tells her, "I can't afford money to rent an apartment here. So Can I ask your parents if I can stay with you as your family pet?"

"I don't know my mom never allowed us to have pets." Mallory answered. "Like my little sister Emma got a goldfish one time and it died a day later."

Jada rolled her eyes both of them walked the stairs to find the Kra's apartment.

When they finally reached the Kra's family apartment Mallory used her keys to open the door and her mom appeared the moment after.

"Good afternoon mom." Mallory said.

"Well you're in a positive mood in a long time." Joan replied.

Mallory rolled her eyes as Joan said that.

Joan also say Jada, "Is that a cat?"

"Yes." Jada answered. "I'm no ordinary cat, I'm a cat that has the ability to talk as a result of reading so much human information."

"Well then, but why are you with my daughter?" Joan asked Jada.

"Because I need a home and I can't afford one." Jada answered.

"You're lucky that none of us are allergic to you but we can't afford to order cat food." Joan told Jada.

"Well good for you, I don't eat cat food I eat human food even the ones that poison other cats." Jada replied.

"Well we may have a new member of the family then." Joan said gleefully.

Mallory couldn't wait for the horror going forward just having a pet in the family.
