contempt and glory volume 1

In a medieval world, powers granted by strange fruits existed, along with a remarkable skill in swordsmanship, which was highly valued by society. Magic also existed, but unlike swords and fruits, it was not as appreciated or recognized.
In fencing, three main styles were practiced: the style of the God of the North, the style of the God of Water, and the style of the God of Fire. These styles were divided into the ranks of beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert.
As for the fruits, there were ten categories, each granting a unique power. These categories are: lightning, fire, rocket, claws, gravity, water, ice, wind, and two unique ones: God of Death and God of the Moon. The fruits in each category not only offer abilities but also a deep connection with their respective element or cosmic force.
On the other hand, magic was organized differently. It was divided into three main branches: offensive, defensive, and support. Offensive magic included control over elements like fire, water, earth, and wind. Unlike fencing, magic had a broader classification with the following ranks: beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert, saint, and deity.
In this world filled with adventures and extraordinary powers, lived a 14-year-old boy, the son of a swordsman and a mage. Cheerful and playful by nature, he had admired magic since he was a child and always dreamed of becoming the best, regardless of the disdain society felt toward it.
My name is Darius. In this world where swords and strange fruits reign, I chose to follow a different path: magic. I’ve always been different, and even though people don’t value magic as much as swords or fruits, I am determined to prove its true power.
Well, at 7 years old, I learned intermediate-level magic, and now I know advanced magic, but only in offense and defense. As for support magic, I only know basic healing spells.
My father, Abel, is a saint-level swordsman who uses the style of the God of Water. He’s somewhat arrogant about his sword skills, always practicing shirtless, as if it were a show for everyone passing by. It’s a bit conceited considering he already has a wife.
On my mother’s side, she is a mage named Sira. In her time, magic was recognized, but with the appearance of fruits with powers, it declined. She is a former adventurer, advanced in attack and support magic, but a beginner in defense. She’s affectionate and always pampers me, even though I’m already a young man...
