Chapter 3:
The Kingdom of Eldoria
Amidst the chaos, the nobles finally gained an audience with King Alaric IV. Lady Isolde, standing before the king in the grand council chamber, spoke earnestly. “Your Majesty, the people are rising. To ignore their plight is to endanger the very foundation of your rule. We must foster dialogue, not division.”
Alaric’s resolve was tested as he considered the implications of her words. As a wise ruler, he understood the danger of dismissing the will of his subjects. The prospect of losing not only his crown but also his legacy filled him with dread. The king was not blind to the hunger for freedom that grew outside the castle walls. As whispers of rebellion coalesced into a growing storm, he recognized the need for change to quell the fires of discontent.
With a heavy heart and cautious resolve, King Alaric IV addressed his council. “If we are to avert disaster, we must take bold steps. I will summon Rowan and other representatives of the common folk to negotiate terms. Change must begin today. Our greatness cannot come from oppression but from unity.”
