Chapter 7:

Bonus: Author's Creation Notes/Character Profiles

Idol Mind

---- Author's Creation Notes ----
* This is a 1st anniversary work for [the author's] time on Honeyfeed. The poll for it was around July 2017, so if you weren't around where the poll link was posted, then you may have missed out.
* Again, this is based on [the author's] experiences, which should guarantee some degree of authenticity if nothing else.
* The songs in this story are original. Amelie's one is just a bunch of weird sentences vaguely related to "One Wish They Never Wanted", while [the author] used their Japanese knowledge to create the second. Both songs have no real set tune so assign whatever tune you like to them. However, [the author] is using this song to give you a warning, as a person learning Japanese - if you're going to use Japanese, make sure it's within your own capability first. Don't rely on Google Translate!
* The reason there's only romaji and English for the final twist is because 1) [the author] has enough trouble correcting the Japanese in Parable of the Renegades, 2) those are the only two versions of the song that are needed for the story and 3) incorrectly using Japanese can be disrespectful to those who natively speak the language.
* The tiles are a foresight of Kris's - he got them specially made for this competition. Of course, this is a pretty useless detail in the scheme of things, so that's why Kris never explains this.
* The title of this is a pun on "idle mind", as in "an idle mind is the devil's playground".
* Normally [the author] will write one chapter at a time, but with this one it was better to write it all and separate it into chapters to ensure it was complete, as pointed out to Strident Dragon in the comments.
* Thanks to Gerry Hines for encouraging the writing of a spinoff. Aside from this one, [the author] has exactly one spinoff from previous times and that overtook its main story, so [the author] is not proud of their skills in writing spinoffs.
* As of the end of "One Wish They Never Wanted", there was a vague bunch of ideas surrounding "The Familiar of Forty". [The author] wants to write "Familiar of Forty" someday, and an official sequel to "One Wish..." isn't entirely out of the question, but [the author] needs to wrap up their other stories first...

Desiree and Yumeda
* Possible names for Desiree were "Hydrangea" and "Periwinkle", but those names were much too annoying and ridiculous to keep spelling. Well, Ember has a theme of gold and Quartz has a theme of white like their namesakes, so suddenly having a purple fairy with an unthemed name was slightly disappointing though.
* While Yumeda was still a concept, her outfit was a galaxy print furisode.
* Yumeda's fairy needed a colour that would work in association with the existing fairies and Yumeda herself, hence the pale purple. The colour scheme and name always come before the powers when planning the fairies.

----Character Profiles----
Amelie Leroy
Age as of this story: 18
Occupation: University student (intending to major in sociology)/part time bookstore worker
A girl still recovering from the death of her sister over one year ago. Once she focuses on an objective, she won't stop until she's had her way, come hell or high water, so she dislikes inevitabilities. However, she also is able to demonstrate a penchant for adapting to tricky situations. She tends to bring out the worst in people, but she's an optimist.

Quartz Gemray
Age as of this story: 21 (calculated in human years)
Occupation: n/a
A fairy whose tears become rocks that can store magic. He's Ember's minder, and because he is very polite, submissive and easy to manipulate, he becomes someone's lackey often...that is, until Desiree comes into play. Out of all the humans, he is most comfortable with Kris.

Desiree Roseheart
Age as of this story: 16 (calculated in human years)
Occupation: n/a
An unreliable junior to Quartz and Ember, forced to stay by the fairy elder's side because the elder wishes it. Unfortunately for him, Desiree is headstrong enough to escape often and the elder is old enough to not be able to chase after her. Desiree's specialty is creating visions of one's true love, and so she is often sought on matters of the heart. Often mistaken for Glitter, the Elder's wife. (While Ember is a tsundere, Desiree is more himedere.)

Kanade Yumeda
Age as of this story: "You must not ask a woman her age," she says.
Occupation: Idol
A mysterious woman(?) who's never revealed her true name - "Kanade Yumeda" is a pseudonym she works under. Most known for her pale purple hair and her cheery disposition. Kris seems to know the true Kanade, despite her English not being very good, but Kris has never said anything on the matter.

She is partially inspired by Rio (from Jio Kurenai's "Parable of the Renegades"), hence all this talk about "Parable".

Kris Sheehan
Age as of this story: 25
Occupation: Talk show host
A talented celebrity who excels at anything involving a stage and an audience. However, lately because people are so used to drooling over him or envying him, he's been losing popularity. If he's drunk, expect him to be very, very troubled.

Fairy Elder Platinum
Age as of this story: ????
Occupation: n/a
The fairy elder who is fickle about love. All fairies, bar Desiree, fear his wrath. A stickler for tradition. His specialty is to turn fairies human with that staff of his. He's so old, he doesn't remember his own surname.
