Chapter 19:
The living Hanna castle
The bicycle rushes down through the clouds,
Hana and the young man drawing closer to the ground again.
The sound of explosions in the distance,
firelights dancing in the sky.
Hana looks at him, worried:
– “When will the war end?
Why does everyone have to fight?”
The boy looks at her calmly.
He’s no longer smiling.
His eyes are filled with something like sorrow.
– “When someone dares to stop fighting.
When someone chooses life… even in the middle of ruin.”
Hana whispers:
– “I choose life…”
The young man gives a bitter smile.
Softly, he says:
– “I have to go…
There’s a home waiting for me on the other side of the forest.”
He leaves the bicycle beside a hill.
Takes off his shoes,
places his hand over his heart.
His body begins to change,
shining feathers sprout from his back,
his face becomes radiant,
and in a moment…
He turns into a massive bird.
A bird with silver and white wings,
cutting through the winds,
flying off toward somewhere far away.
Hana raises her hands.
Only a trail of light remains in the sky.
Softly, under her breath, she says:
– “You promised to wait for me…”
