Culture Clash

An awkward air was inside the restaurant, as its customers peered into four unique looking individuals, sitting in a table with a few highschool students. But unbeknownst to the students, they were sitting across three Princes of another world. Iscodaya and Kaus took glaces at each other as Senodaya and Daranya were talking about how hard it was the read the menu.

Yusuke, Kei, and their friendgroup stared at the four, no words exiting their lips, for they also felt the awkward tension. But in order to break the ice, Kei decided to open her mouth, “So~ Iscodaya, care to introduce us to these guys?” She asked, causing the two brothers to look at the Second Prince.

Iscodaya felt the eyes target him, causing him to clear his throat, “Well, these are my brothers. Kaus and I had just picked them out of the airport a few hours ago.” Hearing this, Daranya and Senodaya decided to introduce themselves. But due to their more active lives as royals, they had already implanted in their minds how to introduce themselves royally.

“Greetings people of Ear-” But before Daranya could continue, Iscodaya winded up his palm, as he grabbed Daranya’s mouth with force, his scarlet eyes staring into his brother’s.

“You inbecile, introduce yourself like an Earthling,” Iscodaya whispered in their language. Kei and the whole friendgroup was a bit stunned at the display, as they got to realize how physical Iscodaya was with his family.

The second Prince removed his hand from the first, as Daranya cleared his throat, “Yo, whassa, I’m ya boy Daranya.” Iscodaya and Kaus’ jaws hit the floor as the friendgroup were absolutely flabbergasted.

Hearing how his brother introduced himself, Senodaya also tried it, “Yeah yo, I’m his lil bro, Senodaya.” But as the two were proud of their introductions, Iscodaya stared at them with a scornful look.

“You are so lucky you’re my little brother Kousa Senodaya,” the black-haired Prince warned, causing the orange-haired one to bow in shame. “Where did you guys even find that greeting?” He asked, causing Daranya to proudly scoff.

“In those videos of course,” he replied with confidence. Iscodaya’s eyes spoke of how tired he was at telling his brothers off. But feeling like they were leaving the Earthlings out, Daranya turned to them, “So~ I heard you all have been taking care of my little brother?” He asked, his tone cheery.

The group were a bit shocked at his greeting, as even though he bore a near identical face to Iscodaya, he was very bright and friendly. The friendgroup went one by one with their introductions, with Kei being the last one, “Hi, I’m Kei Inoue, you could say I’m like Iscodaya’s best friend,” she stated in a joking manner to lift up the mood.

Iscodaya scoffed at the statement, but there was an intrusive thought inside of the mind of Senodaya. The third Prince knew he shouldn’t say it, but his body was telling him to, “Wow, you’re real pretty big sister, that’s probably why father wants to know more about you.”

An awkward silence came over the group, as Iscodaya slowly turned his head to his little brother, his glare being extra terrifying. “Iscodaya… do you tell your parents about me?” Kei asked, her tone genuine. The second Prince had to stop giving his brother the death glare as he turned to Kei.

“N-no, it was Kaus who mentioned you,” he explained like a criminal pleading his case. But as he saw a smile form over Kei’s mouth, he knew what was about to come.

“Oh~ introducing me to your family now eh?” Kei teased as Iscodaya began to defend himself further. The two groups watched, with the Earthlings already used to this, but the Eonians were not.

Someone talking like that with Iscodaya? And getting away with it? The two brothers were shocked, “Lady Kei,” Daranya called out, causing the battle of words to stop. The girl turned to Daranya, a little weirded out by how he referred to her, “How do you… talk like this to Iscodaya?” He asked, his face spoke of reverence, Senodaya nodded along as Kei was a little weirded out.

But before anything else happened, a waiter with an array of drinks came to the table. Yusuke, who was pretty silent just watching the show, decided to finally open his mouth. “We ordered drinks literally before you guys appeared by the glass, you wanna order some?”

Hearing this, Kaus nodded, “Sure,” he then turned to the two royals, “You guys have some orders? It’s like the restaurants back home.” Daranya and Senodaya both nodded as Iscodaya gave them the menu.

As they looked through the options, with Iscodaya explaining how they tasted, they told the waiter their orders. “Your names, please?” the waiter asked.

“Kaus Irom.”

“Iscodaya Kousa.”

“Senodaya Kousa.”

“Daranya Kousa.”

The waiter nodded as she gave them their check, “Thank you… well, I’ll be coming back with your orders Mr Irom and Mr Kousas.”

Hearing this, Iscodaya nodded, “Thank you.” But he then felt something wrong behind him, as the waiter’s face became shocked. Iscodaya turned around to see his two brothers looking at the waiter with an offended expression on their faces.

“Excuse me?” The two asked, but before they could say anything more, Iscodaya gave them a glare that told them to stop whatever they are doing. The two got confused as Iscodaya and Kaus apologized, “What was that for? They were being rude to us.”

Iscodaya sighed as he explained how calling people by their last names was not rude. But seeing the two get offended, reminded Yusuke on the first time he called Kaus by his last name. Even though now Iscodaya and Kaus were fine with it, Yusuke really got to see how rude it was in their culture to do that.

But as the four got their drinks, Iscodaya and Kaus, who had already been in this restaurant, enjoyed it with modesty. Meanwhile the other two were constantly surprised by the different flavours. Yuuma, who was silent the whole time, began to explain how the drinks are made.

Helping Iscodaya for he was starting to get tired, constantly answering his brothers’ questions. But as the group were beginning to talk and converse more, Kei, who was just talking with Rin, saw that some foam from Senodaya’s drinks had gotten to his chin.

So signalling it to the young boy, she got some tissue and cleaned it for him. But this gesture caused the boy’s eyes to spark a bit, to the surprise of Kei. “Thank you, you’re like big brother Isco.”

Hearing this, Kei couldn’t help but smile, “Why? Does your brother help you a lot.” At her question, Senodaya shuffled closer to Kei, indicating that he wanted to whisper something. Kei leaned as Senodaya started.

“Big brother Isco took care of me growing up, because our mother had passed before I was even four. He taught me how to read and write, how to speak properly and how to act correctly. Because big brother Daran is the first born, he’s always with father, so big brother Isco brought it upon himself to take care of me. Even though he might be mean sometimes, my big brother is very kind.” As the boy finished whispering, Kei was a little taken back by what he had said.

Iscodaya’s mother was dead, and at a very young age it seemed like. She now understood why Iscodaya sometimes pushes people away, that pain of losing a mother must’ve hurt him. But as she saw Senodaya, she saw a polite and bright boy, clearly raised well. She couldn’t help but smile, “Well make sure to thank you brother, okay?”

Hearing Kei’s words, Senodaya pouted, “I always do, but he constantly brushes it off.” The girl couldn’t help but sigh, for that was very Iscodaya-like.

“What are you talking about over there?” Echoed the voice of the topic, peering into Kei and Senodaya’s conversation. Kei turned to Iscodaya, her eyes bearing a lot more respect for the boy.

“Just a secret between us, right Senodaya?” Hearing how Kei was taunting his older brother, the Prince thought it funny to also join in.

“Yes, just a little secret me and big sister Kei have.” This earned a suspicious look from Iscodaya, who rolled his eyes at their cheekiness.
