Chapter 76:
Ascension of the Void Monarch
Ren knelt beside Oris’s still body, the battlefield still echoing with the fading cries of the Abyss Judge. The ground around them lay scarred—cracks glowing faintly from the remnants of corrupted magic.
Oris wasn’t breathing.
“Don’t do this,” Ren whispered, gripping the older man’s collar. “You don’t get to leave me—not now.”
Suddenly, the Void Monarch System pulsed within Ren’s core.
[Anomaly Detected: Mentor’s Lifeforce Drained.] [Transference Protocol Available.] [Do you wish to inherit Oris’s Memory Core?]
Ren’s breath caught. “What…?”
A translucent projection shimmered before him—Oris’s form flickering like a memory.
“If you're seeing this, it means I failed,” the memory said. “But it also means... you’re ready. Everything I fought for, every secret I held back—it’s yours now. You must walk this path, Ren. Even if you walk it alone.”
[Warning: Accepting the Memory Core will alter your abilities.] [Proceed?]
Ren clenched his fists. He looked around at the shattered realm, the withered chains, the silent abyss.
“No more hesitation.”
[Confirmed.]
The surge hit like a storm.
Flashes of Oris’s battles, training, and ancient knowledge flooded Ren’s mind. He screamed, his eyes glowing violet as the Monarch Crest reshaped itself on his chest—wreathed in runes of forgotten power.
When it ended, he stood taller, stronger… changed.
[New Title Acquired: Heir of the Forgotten Flame] [New Skill Unlocked: “Judgment Severance” – Cut through fate itself.]
Ren exhaled, steam rising from his skin. “Oris… I’ll carry your will.”
He turned to the horizon.
A black fortress loomed beyond the abyss, casting a long shadow over the ruined land.
Nyx was waiting.
And now… Ren was ready.
