Mission Started

             Touma and the team finally arrived at the camp. They all got out of the vehicle, and one of the men asked Touma what he should do with the girl.

“Well, register her at the orphanage,” said Touma.

The man nods, gets the little girl by her hand, and takes her with him. Touma starts walking away in another direction. The little girl sees that she's being taken away from Touma and tries to leave the man holding her hand.

“Hey, calm down, little girl,” said the man, but she kept on pulling until she bit his hand, and he let go. “Aargh! what was that for?” said the man. “Hey, come back!” he continued.

The man chased after her, and when she saw Touma, she ran toward him. Touma felt someone grab him, and he looked back to see the little girl, then looked up to see the man chasing after her.

“I'm sorry, doc, she just bit me and left.” Said the man complaining.

Touma crouched to the girl's level.

“You should go with this man, he will take you to a place where you can make friends,” said Touma, smiling at the girl.

Touma stood up again, but the girl tightened her grip on the teddy bear that he gave her then she held tightly to Touma.

“You said you wouldn't leave me,” said the little girl, looking up at Touma with puffed-up eyes.

“Well, I guess she got very attached to you in that short time,” said the man.

Touma sighed, “I guess I'll take her for now.”

Touma responded as he grabbed her hand and started walking away. Both were heading towards the building where the chief was. when they finally arrived, Touma knocked on the door.

“Junkei, you there?” yelled Touma. “Oh yes, come in,” responded Junkei from the inside.

Toma opened the door and walked inside.

“Touma, it's great to see you came back alive and well. Do you have anything to report?” Ask Junkei.

“Well-” When Touma was about to speak, Junkei noticed the little girl.

“And who is this?” Said Junkie with a smile, directing himself to the little girl.

“Oh, I found her in one of the ruins,” answered Touma.

“I see,” said Junkei as he crouched down. “So, little girl, what's your name?” Has continued Junkei.

“Alice,” answered the little girl.

“That is a beautiful name.” Said Junkie with a smile.

“Uh, Junkei the report.” Said Touma.

“Oh, come on, Touma, lighten up a bit. I bet you didn't even know what her name was.” Junkei said.

“I, uh,” Touma was about to respond, but he couldn't. He glanced at the her. And she looked back at him.

“Look, Touma, it's important to look forward to the fight that we're in, but as well as important to look back to the people we are fighting for.” Said Junkei.

“I understand,” said Touma with a sigh.

“I hope you did, now please relay the report you have.” Said Junkei as he went in the back of his desk.

After that, Touma started talking about how he and the men who accompanied him took many supplies out of the building and mentioned the many medical supplies that were found. Including when he found Alice, and mentioning. The reason they left in a hurry was because of the horde of monsters that were coming their way. And lastly, one of them was sacrificed to take the monsters off their trail. As Toma finished the report, Junkei slammed his fist against the table, and a huge thud could be heard, leaving a mark on the table.

“Damn! I was hoping that no one had to go on this expedition,” sulked Junkei, as you can see some sadness in his face.

After a bit of silence, Junkei let out a huge breath. seemingly to calm himself, looking up at Touma and Alice. He brings back his smile and stands straight and walks over to Touma.

“Well, everything's going to be alright.” Said Junkei, with both of his hands on Toumas' Shoulders.

“I hope you're right.” Said Touma.

“Well, I got a new mission for you,” exclaimed Junkei.

“Oh, don't tell me more patience,” retorted. Touma.

“Oh no, no. I did forget to mention that Seki found other doctors on his expedition.” Said Junkei with a happy tone.

“Oh, so Seki is back already? Wait, then what am I going to do?” Question, Touma.

“A very important mission,” exclaimed Junkei.

Touma had a skeptical look.

Junkie pointed at Alice, “From now on you will be taking care of Alice and your first task is to show her around.” Said Junkie, putting his hands on his waist and letting out a huge laugh like if he has accomplished something.

Touma’s face showed the disbelief he was left in.

“Do you expect me to father this child? I've never been a parent nor in a relationship. Aren't you the dad here? Why can't you take care of her?” Ask Touma before looking down at Alice.

“Well, I would, but my little girl might get jealous if I had to share the love that I give her.” Junkei, excusing himself.

“Also, as you have said, you don't have experience in parenting, and what better experience than in practice? And who knows, you might even surpass me and even obtain my place as Chief. Ha ha ha ha.” Said Junkei as he burst out laughing.

“Yeah, sure, whatever.” Touma dismissed Junkei's words and waved his hand goodbye before leaving with Alice.
