Chapter 12:

Zoobreak

Valiesha & the March of the Enagas

While the stormtroopers were deployed to the frontlines with Netherdraco, Dr. Eins snuck into Senri's mansion to find the Viers Center. Armed with syringes with lethal doses of IV antibiotic syringes under her white coat, she disposed of the Skelengel guards.

Meanwhile, Calyx and Tynan freed their classmates and armed them with weapons from the fallen Skelengel stormtroopers. They shot down cameras and blasted the noisy bat drones down.

"Hey, Ty! I think we understand what's happening," One of the classmates looked at the fake scenery of a happy nighttime city with fireworks. "I can't believe what we see out there is a lie."

"Senri promised us we'd graduate to see the outside, but she doesn't care about any of that, does she?" Another classmate asked.

"Hey, listen. I know we've had enough," Tynan gave the students the mirrors Dr. Eins left. "I get it. We once believed Senri would help us live our simple dream of living happily ever after with a girl, but it was all a trick."

The boys then looked at the campus gates to see an army of Endromen waiting.

"Men, I'm begging all of you to fight!" Tynan yelled. "We need to break into the fake hologram to help our girls out there break in. They're fighting for us, so let's fight with them!"

"Remember! The only way to kill an Endroman is by slitting its throat!" Calyx remembered what Dr. Eins said.

The boys charged towards the outskirts against the marching Endromen, who were immune to regular firepower. The androids had their arms morph into machine guns and sonic cannons, mowing students down like grass. They showed no mercy to the brave students, using their bare hands to beat them and crush their skulls.

The boys used the Skelengel RPGs to fight back as they worked together to tackle the Endromen. Groups wrestled with each android, knowing one-on-one fights between a human man and an Endromen was a losing battle. Groups held the androids in place, letting others slice their carotid neck arteries to kill them.

Although Tynan had one leg and a crutch, he used his crutch as a melee weapon. He stabbed Endromen's eyes and coiled their throats with his handgrip. Calyx had one arm, but he smashed the Endromen's foreheads with his work hammer and used his power drill to penetrate their necks.

When the boys ran through the grassy outskirts, they blinked at the sight of some classmates torn limb by limb in milliseconds. A blue sapphire woman with axe-like horns and needle-like fingers stood in front of them.

"Crap! Makyuran guard!" Tynan held his breath.

"Eyes on it! It only moves if nobody's looking!" Calyx warned. "Tell each other when you blink!"

"We have to smash a mirror into its face! They will die if they see their reflection break!"

As Tynan watched the statue, Calyx drew a mirror and faced it at the creature's eye before smashing it into the face. The Makyuran guard shattered into pieces. When the boys ran further, three Makyuran guards appeared and ate fellow students in milliseconds.

While groups stayed behind and worked together to destroy the sapphire girls, Calyx and Tynan led a group through the holographic wall into the engineering room of computers and batteries.

"Look! I think that's a shield generator!" Calyx looked at the cybernetic circuit breaker. "The girls outside must be unable to break in because of it!"

One of the boys screamed as a Makyuran guard ate him at a speed faster than an eye could blink. The others were careful not to blink as a student quickly whacked a mirror in its face to kill the demon.

"Calyx, you know machines better!" Tynan watched two sapphire statues. "Crush the generator! We'll cover you!"

Since Tynan couldn't move too fast, he watched the statues. His sight held them in place as their fellow students crushed their mirrors into the demons' cycloptic eyes. Calyx concentrated on the armored circuit breaker and peeled it open with his heavy pliers and wrench.

"Of course, they use my home defense alarm system!" Calyx rolled his eyes at the trap wires that would electrify him if touched. "This is going to take time."

"Hurry, Calyx!" Tynan yelled as he noticed five sapphire statues inside the engineering area.

Tynan and the other boys surrounded Calyx, not allowing the Makyuran guards to attack him with his back turned. While Calyx used safety pliers to disarm the trap wires, the battling students fell one by one as the number of Makyuran guards seemed to multiply no matter how many they destroyed. After finally removing all trap wires, Calyx found the shield core and pierced his drill into it.

"Got it!" Calyx shouted as Dessix rumbled. "Now the girls can blast the armor down easily."

The hologram that covered the academy shattered like glass. As the remaining boys gathered through the smoke, they faced the wrecked campus. They were pale with fear as standing in front of them were thousands of Makyuran guards. Calyx, Tynan, and about fifty others were still alive, while hundreds of classmates were killed by Endromen or the Makyuran guards.

"We helped the girls. What now?" Calyx asked. "We can't fight that many!"

As the boys watched the statues together and took turns blinking, they huddled in terror.

"Is this it?"

"This is how we go down? Without seeing our girlfriends?

"We just die here? It's not fair. Did we not fight enough?"

The remaining students heard Dessix rumble from the Enaga rebellion's missiles as Tynan limped in front of the Makyuran guards.

"We gave it our all as men, folks," Tynan told the boys without looking back. "I think if we're going out together, I want to say something."

Tynan glared his blue eyes at the thousands of demons ready to eat him and his last classmates.

"What are you doing, Ty?" Calyx huffed. "You're crazy!"

Although Tynan knew they couldn't win, he bellowed. "You know, everyone here and myself dreamed of living a simple, happy life with a beautiful girl who loved us for who we were. I mean, any man would want that, right? Just like how Chirus worked for his girlfriend's future."

"I want to get a girlfriend and be a good boyfriend, too! Sure, I'm not a pharmacy genius like Chirus. I don't know mathematics and engineering like Calyx. Heck, I'm a dropout that the girls laughed at! But you know what? That's okay because I know there's a girl who would love me!"

"Why? I'm an author! I made a seven-book sci-fi series that will be famous! I wrote believing my works of fiction would impress a cute girl one day! Do you think I'm scared of some blue-girl monsters who can't move when watched? Probably the most cowardly I've seen!"

Tynan courageously gave one last insane smile to the thousands of Makyuran guards, balancing on one leg to wield his crutch like a sword. "You can't stop my dream! Come on! Bring it! My story's ending will truly be an epic one!"
