Chapter 1:
Beyond Eternity
At the time known as the end of time, we destroyed the paradise given to us that was called Earth. It had been… wonderful, filled with peace and order. Until we ravaged and tread through the exquisite abundance of natural beauty that this world had to offer. The pristine ranges of hills and mountains, acres of plains and grass, forests of old trees with stories to tell, and animals who natively lived in the vast world before us, were replaced by dull, grey factories for industries, various mining facilities used to find for minerals only to be used as luxuries but actively destroying nature, rapid urbanization of cities to the point where there’s no longer any breathing room for plants to thrive, only to benefit economic status. However, it wasn’t enough. Eventually, we would lose our resources, and will make our industries slowly crumble. So, we pleaded to our fake god to let darkness exist. And then, there was darkness. As we laughed in insanity, we called it security. And in this security, we divided ourselves into races, religions, and classes of society. Soon, the rich trampled on the peasantry, the prestigious and powerful countries tread on the weak, uncivilized countries, and take their lands and resources, different humans with different skin and eye colors grouped with others with same characteristics and bred violence and scorn amongst them, and the most dominant races trampled on the rights of other people. And then, our economies soared. Slaves made way for cheap labor, as you don’t need to feed them well. There were more resources, abundant with rare spices and ores in other lands, so we took them all. We then spread industrialisation to these ravaged lands, so the whole Earth would slowly witness the breathtaking amounts of smog covering the sun. We continued trampling on the poor Mother Earth, six years before the end of time.
Our empires grew with immense wealth and brought forth prosperity among the nobility. However, it was so immense that even the common people became rich, too. Our rulers called this theft and claimed that it would destroy the kingdom and bankrupt them. And so, we pleaded to our fake god again. We wanted a government to control the populace over everything—money, education, and power. And so, it gave us that, and we set up enormous armies of soldiers to serve as surveillance. Soon, they stole wealth, ran over villages, and stole more wealth. The common people became slaves and worked for industries and farmlands that the nobility monopolized. Even citizens alike were treated like prisoners. We laugh in insanity yet again, as our economies skyrocketed even more. We set up more and more armies, until they were more than the entire populace itself, and the cities around our empires were restricted to culture, music, and entertainment, and were like big prisons. With astronomical prices controlled by oligarchies, poor people couldn’t afford them, even food. And so, they starved to death. Bread was so rare that a sight of one would cause dozens of other commoners to violently kill you and take all of your things, and so it caused an internal conflict between commoners, and they began killing each other. The death tolls were so high that workplaces lost workers, and the economies plummeted. To resolve this, the government promoted a new way of living, preaching equal food rations to every citizen and equal rights, although extremely restricted. Commoners were happy, as some gleams of hope were finally in their hands, but they were not truly free, as it may spark rebellion amongst groups, and start unique ideas on how governments should rule. And so, governments restricted free thinking, and everyone followed a single ideology, living repetitive lives. The growth rates gradually grew, and more laborers joined the ranks of industries and farmlands. We continued trampling on basic human rights, five years before the end of time.
The darkness that we wished for continued enveloping our world, and became our security. However, that darkness wasn’t enough, as the risks of internal conflict and rebellion remained as an insecurity throughout the nobility. And so, we killed those whom we think are rebelling. However, killing people with swords and bows became too inefficient. So we pleaded again to our fake god for more darkness. And it granted us more darkness, as it gave us innovations of new weapons of destruction. Muskets evolved into rifles, snipers, and shotguns with multiple bullets designed to kill people more thoroughly, bombs and grenades created to kill a group of people in a single space. More inventions of killing machines, including furnaces and gas chambers, were created to make mass genocides more thorough. And so, we made labor and concentration camps everywhere, but restricted them from the public eye. Revolutionaries died excruciatingly, and these camps made more free labor, so the economy boomed by a small margin. We continued trampling on human lives, four years before the end of time.
While we pleasured with the darkness we had, bathing in the monstrous amounts of gold in the treasury, the commoners remained with problems. They were subtly conquered by mental diseases, especially depression. This was an obstacle for nobility, as it may cripple labor force and productivity, so they needed a quick solution. And so, they pleaded to their fake god again and begged for a solution. And they now have a solution, using drugs. With certain addictive contents that could serve as an escape from reality, these would also help in the economy as they might sell well. And so, it temporarily solved the problem, but also had adverse effects like restlessness, which killed a few people. However, the government overlooked that fact, as it didn’t plummet the economy. We continued trampling on an individual’s own world, three years before the end of time.
Empires became unstable, as more uprisings undermined the power of the nobility. They would normally be sent to concentration camps, however, this will eventually deplete the future workforce. Commoners were filled with hate, as they could not enjoy their daily life anymore. Desperate, we pleaded again to our fake god, hoping for another solution. And it gave us a solution, which was to redirect their hate to another race, religion, or country. And they did just that. The populace, unaware, turned their hate to other countries, and blamed them for their misfortune. Meanwhile, many people now support their own governments, not knowing that they were the ones to blame. Eventually, this instigated wars around the world, and lasted for months. We continued toying with our people’s emotions, two years before the end of time.
There was a great empire that stood out among other great empires, and conquered a continent on its own. Trampling on lands, one by one, it repeated its vicious cycle, all for economic growth. And with each conquered city, we would become mere mega prisons, devoid of culture, as its only purpose is to fill the pockets of the elite. This empire, separated by two oceans, went to war in the lands of Europe. Then, as it invaded parts of Ireland and Great Britain, we prayed to the one whom we thought was the one true god. And we assumed that he thinks how we think, hates how we hate, and kills how we kill. It became our symbol of the empire, as it inspires what we want to aspire to, the commoners and nobles alike, as killing machines and laborers only meant to serve the empire. And so we prayed again, to the fake god, one year before the end of time.
We invented new vehicles like trucks and tanks, meant for transporting soldiers and a new means of killing enemies. And in those vehicles, we transported a type of bomb that could be launched from a long range. However, this was another type of missile. It was so big and heavy that only one would fit in a truck. And so we launched it onto Europe. Inside the missile were no ordinary chemicals. It was incredibly poisonous to the human body, as it would blister a part of your body and bring complications to your chromosomes upon impact. The magic is somewhere microscopic, where tremendous amounts of energy would burst from a chain reaction. A nuclear bomb. And as they hit the surface, everything obliterates into oblivion, from a temperature hotter than the sun, and as poisonous as a hundred lethal doses of arsenic. The red, giant, cloud-like gas engulfed the beautiful sky. We launched it throughout all of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. However, our colonies that have access to these missiles betrayed us and launched missiles at our empire! And so, we launched them all across the whole world. The people kneeled and bowed, as their doom was imminent. There were no such things as bunkers to prevent radiation sickness. And so, the bombs reached North and South America, where the empire was situated. And as I, Maximilian the Great, stood in my lonely tower, as the emperor of the Great Empire of America, I watched the scenery around me burn into ashes. More nuclear bombs blew from the horizon, where I could see them far away. They kept getting closer and closer to the capital, but I didn’t run away. Why? Because I deserved it. You don’t need my backstory—I’m just an evil sinner. The empire I built extended from Canada to Panama, and I imprisoned and enslaved my citizens whom I should've loved and cared for. I enslaved others and stripped them of their resources, culture, and rights. I made my empire advance scientifically, but only for the sake of killing efficiently and thoroughly. I have introduced drugs that mess with your brain to my citizens, leading them into an endless loop of addiction, but made them an escape from reality. I have escaped from my faults and placed the blame on other countries or people that have nothing to do with us. And finally, I have blasphemed against someone… or something, that might be our one true god. And I lay down on the floor of my bedroom, on top of the wretched tower that ruled over the dystopia that I’ve built. And finally, I… heard a loud boom, and saw a light that blinded my eyes. My body… hurts badly, as if it were burning too fast. However, my mouth… couldn’t scream.
