Chapter 29:
Glassflower: Ursa and the Scarf Squad
My child, your journey has ground to a halt. I thought I raised you better than this, but I guess a failure is still a failure.
In your desire to gather information, you decided to enter the Dream Realm of the most obvious walking time bomb I’ve ever seen: Amara Auer. Worse, once you entered, the two of you quickly were separated from one another. The Time Bomb went off to dreamland, observing her beloved family and friends, while you played around with wires.
Thankfully, you caught up eventually, just in time too. Amara and her friends had been under attack by a flaming nightmare giant you nicknamed: Wickerman. You easily dispatched the thing of course, but not without wasting time.
You always know how to waste time.
Speaking of which. You took Amara to another dream world, the exact place you needed be. You then screwed it multiple times over.
First you disturbed the dream, getting the attention of nightmares, then your awful social skills led to Amara struggling against you. To top it all off, the Dream Guardian in the form of Amara’s sister, Armina, appeared and separated the two of you.
Perhaps I should’ve taught you social skills, but I rolled incorrectly on that one.
Now separated, you got into a car chase, with time running short. Your nightmare was catching up sooner than you could reload. Armina and Amara themselves got into trouble, with Amara’s ticking time bomb growing louder and louder. You, my child, however have been cursed with the ‘sin’ of empathy.
You caught up to Amara and Armina in a bar with the rest of their friends. After a showdown with Armina, your nightmare appeared. I’m not sure whether to be flattered or offended that it looked like me.
It doesn’t matter.
You escaped with Amara into another dream world. It wasn’t long before Amara’s grey and your nightmare caught up to you.
Quick lesson for you, my child. The reason you don’t want to enter a ticking time bomb like Amara Auer is that she’ll have a particularly strong grey presence within her body. Once brought into the Dream Realm, her nightmares will be influenced by her grey into hunting her down and using her to strengthen the grey. This would corrupt her soul and potentially mind.
She’d either quadruple down on her corrupted behaviors as a Nazi, or she’d throw her own funeral. Keep that in mind next time you mess with another’s Dream Realm, because that’s what the nightmares did when you two separated again.
While you were trapped within a part of the nightmare, she was more or less held at gunpoint and pressured into speaking the name of a repressed memory:
“CARINA!”
This awakened the grey within the centre of her nightmares. Albeit, it also encouraged some growth as she stood up against a nightmare and caused a rebellion. So if you had left the dream at that very moment, you would’ve been fine.
As usual, you made the wrong choice, and took her to the intersection between nightmare and dream. The unsealed realm of her former lover: Carina Thomas.
You watched the beginning and end of their relationship, bringing out Amara’s feelings of love and her pain. This waste of time led to the Nightmares of Radio Hosts, Adolpha and Donna, to break into the dream and attempt to take Amara.
After a brief battle with the Radio Hosts, you were faced by Armina Auer yet again. She made the good recommendation of leaving, but your a fool. The two of you fought, and Amara was taken. Rather than leave then and there to protect Amara, you teamed up with her Guardian and the resistance to head down into the nightmare.
All while your nightmare is just behind you and her’s is awakening as we speak.
………
Adolpha and Donna reappeared in the dome, “Our lady, we’ve brought this offering to you,”
They bowed down and presented an unconscious Amara in their giant metal hands. The grey figure approached them. She caressed Amara’s cheek.
She wrapped an amulet around Amara’s neck. It featured a grey gem shaped like a coffin.
She gave the amulet a kiss.
She became a stream of silver and grey. She slithered into the amulet.
Adolpha and Donna raised Amara up, so that the grey would feed the amulet.
