Chapter 69:

Green - Hero's Lies Arc

Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World

*Author's Note - "Hello again! It's me! Thank you so much for the recent support on the novel! The views have skyrocketed recently and I really hope you are enjoying it! I just wanted to let you know that I am actually writing a new football novel on Honeyfeed, starting tomorrow! It will be called ASD F.C. and it will be about a young man who wants to win the World Cup, while being diagnosed with Autism, which is a disability I was diagnosed with as a child! It won't be nearly as long as this mind you, just a smaller side project, and chapters will come out on opposite days as this (Eg, this gets a chapter on even days, ASD F.C. gets released on odd days). Anyway, enough talking! Enjoy the new chapter and thank you once more for your continued support!"

“Red!”

“Black!”

“Black!”

“Red!”

“Red!”

“Black!”

Bibi looked up in awe. Schulz and Kage were fighting at full strength with no limitations. She thought the fight was fast enough before, but this was a different level. She looked at her palms, looking at her explosion mechanisms on her hands.

“Am I a burden?” Bibi asked Tomokazu, who had sat beside her in a sweaty heap on the ground, blood still pouring from his head.

“Huh? Why would you say that, Bibi? You are awesome!”

“Look at that…I don’t have any manna. How am I supposed to live up to that?” she cried out, pointing to the fight currently taking place, the tone in her voice shifting slightly. Tomokazu looked on in shock, but he shook his head and focused.

“I know you can, and you will. It’s called progression. Sure, you need to work a little bit harder than some of us, but it just makes me respect you a lot more,” he said, turning to face her. “And love you a lot more, too.”

“Stupid idiot…I don’t need your compliments,” Bibi told Tomokazu, blushing furiously.

“One day, you will be like that. Trust me. I mean, do you think any of us could fight like that yet? Heck no!” he brought her into a hug, to which Bibi accepted, burrowing her face in his shoulder. He rubbed Bibi’s long brown hair, and Hiroshi gave Tomokazu a small wink.

Schulz kept his fists up to his face, and blocked a few mean punches from Kage. Kage, who was beginning to become fatigued, flew forward with a high kick, but Schulz caught it, and threw Kage down fifty feet below. The ground exploded, debris and dust flying everywhere. Schulz smiled smugly to himself.

“Red, Kage. You know, these decisions are becoming really crucial, aren’t they?”

“Black, Schulz. And yes, I do know. Stop reminding me,” Kage responded coldly, flying back into the air, the earth cracking under the sheer force of the takeoff. Schulz blocked a quick punch from Kage, who then dropped to do a low punch himself, but Kage blocked with his knee, before elbowing Schulz in the face. Blood flew through the air, as it landed on the roulette table, near to where the ball had just landed.

Red again. Schulz laughed in a crazed manner.

“It’s nine buffs to me, and only eight to you! Think about it Kage! One more wrong guess, and that’s it! You are dead! In front of the whole world, you got outsmarted by a lonely hero!”

Kage looked over at students, and gave them a smile, then he focused his attention back to Schulz.

“I know. However, I’m not even a little bit intimidated or scared.”

“Oh, I bet you aren’t…” Schulz began, but Kage teleported just in front of him, landing a swift undercut to his jaw, almost breaking it.

“Too slow! Aren’t you so slow for a man up by a ten percent buff?!” Kage said in a cocky manner. He had counted in his head. Twenty seconds. “Black!”

“Red! I can’t wait for this! Why didn’t you just guess green?! Go all in?!” Schulz laughed hard as the ball was flung around the roulette table once more. Kage folded his arms, and looked at Schulz, with an almost sorry look on his face.

“Schulz. Ever since the first few guesses, I had the whole fight laid out. I was always going to win.”

“How?! It’s all about luck, you old fool!” Schulz laughed again, but his laugh was cut short as the ball stopped, landing in a black slot. Both men had nine buffs each. Whoever guessed correctly on this next guess, would win, and the loser would die.

Schulz formed a huge slab of gold, going into his manna reserves. Fifteen seconds. Kage teleported up above it, and used the slab as a jump pad to land a quick hit. Schulz dodged, but it was a feint. Kage teleported behind Schulz, stabbing his sword deep inside his chest. Ten seconds. Schulz, with rage building up inside of him, formed his own golden blade again, and swung backwards, cutting off Kage’s fingers on his right hand. Kage jumped back, regrowing his fingers by going into his manna reserves.

He didn’t notice the golden blade slashing across his chest, destroying his armored chest plate as it broke off into smaller pieces and fell to the ground. Five seconds left. Kage looked at Schulz, who was bending over, catching his breath. He launched forward, going under Schulz, and delivering a fast knee kick to his face. Schulz tumbled, flying higher and higher into the atmosphere. This wasn’t the case for long though, as he used the air as leverage to fly down again. Three. Two. One.

With a yell, Schulz flung his arms downwards wildly, and Kage blocked, their swords binding.

“Black!” Schulz called. “What’s your call, traitor?! Say red! Say it! Let’s do this!”

Kage smirked.

“Schulz? Has your roulette table ever rolled on a green?” Kage asked, genuinely curious. Schulz couldn’t put his finger on why, but a cold shiver of fear crashed over his body.

“No. Why does it matter.”

“Because, it is a very low chance. With thirty-eight slots, with only two being green, it is a one in nineteen chance. Of course, nobody would hit it by the time you were powered up enough. Unless,” Kage said with a big, almost evil smile, “You delayed the fight out long enough.”

Schulz froze. The cold feeling of death and dread filling up his body from head to toe. He gulped for air.

“It’s…our nineteenth guess.”

“Good man. You figured it out,” Kage smirked, looking over at his students. “Fifth and final lesson. Even if you lose the power battle, if you win the mental battle, that matters just as much.”

Kage looked back at his opponent, who was almost too afraid to move.

“Green.”

The ball spun around the table for the last time. Schulz had stopped caring about the fight entirely. He sunk to the ground, getting to his knees. He willed and begged to the sky. Please…don’t be green.

The ball jumped out of a slot. Jumped again. The table slowed down, and so did the ball. The ball rolled over a slot, and stopped in the next one. Everyone in the whole world looked to the roulette table to see the outcome.

It had landed in a green slot.

Kage had won.
