Chapter 5:

Bad Past?

High School The Mastermind

"Bruh, he really followed my suggestion," Iyuna monologued, shooting a sharp glance at Eid, her eyes narrowing and her chin slightly raised.

The entire class fell silent for a moment after hearing their vice class president's proposal, the air feeling heavy as they processed Eid's words.

"Agreed!" Lucy shouted, rising from her seat with an enthusiastic movement, her fist clenched in the air.

"It's because it can reduce the risks that might come later, so I agree," Lucy continued, nodding firmly with a wide smile spreading across her face.

"Since Lucy agrees, I agree too," said Fyona, nodding several times while playing with the ends of her wavy hair.

"I agree too!" shouted Ike, a short boy with yellowish-brown hair, jumping from his seat with such enthusiasm that his chair creaked backward.

"Well, because I'm not that smart either—"

"—I'm also afraid of being expelled from this school, even though I've worked so hard," Ike continued, scratching the back of his head awkwardly, his eyes fixed on the floor.

"Well, I don't want to, what's the point of studying anyway?" Arga said arrogantly, snorting loudly while crossing his legs with a haughty style.

"Arga, you have to join too! Everyone has agreed, and everyone must participate," Sherin requested firmly, walking toward Arga's desk with rhythmic, authoritative steps.

"No, it's boring," said Arga. He then stood up and walked out carrying his bag, his shoulders moving arrogantly while his leather shoes echoed on the classroom floor.

"Eh? Since Arga's not joining... I-I'll go with Arga too," Sedou said hesitantly. He then walked after Arga with hurried steps, his bag almost falling as he jogged.

"Huh," Sherin just sighed, her shoulders dropping immediately, showing contained annoyance.

Then Eid turned toward Iyuna, who was staring out the window, her fingers tapping on the desk rhythmically, "Uh, um, do you want to..." he asked, his voice growing smaller.

"No," Iyuna refused, without turning her face from the scenery outside, her fingers still tapping gently.

"W-wait, why?" Eid asked, his body leaning toward Iyuna with a pleading look.

Iyuna then stood up and picked up her bag, her chair scraping harshly against the floor, then walked to the exit ignoring Eid, her steps light.

"W-wait..." Eid called out, his hand reaching for air, his body frozen in place.

Sherin then walked toward Eid's desk, her skirt swaying gently with each elegant step, "Let me handle her, you take care of Arga," she said, patting Eid's shoulder gently.

"U-uh? O-okay," Eid replied with a nod, his tense shoulders gradually relaxing.

Upon reaching the dormitory, Iyuna dropped her bag on the table with a soft thud and immediately threw herself onto the bed, the mattress springs creaking as they received her weight. She unbuttoned her blouse from top to bottom with slender fingers moving quickly, then pulled down her skirt zipper while lying down, the metal zipper tinkling softly.

"Huh," Iyuna sighed deeply then rose from her bed with a lazy movement, her skirt falling to sweep the floor along with her blouse slipping from her shoulders. She then took a towel from the hanger and walked to the bathroom, the ceramic floor making soft sounds beneath her steps.

After showering, Iyuna put on her casual clothes, fixed her wet hair with her fingers, and sat at the table while enjoying her homemade soup and a cup of coffee. The spoon collided with the bowl, creating delicate clinks.

"Knock knock knock~" someone knocked on Iyuna's dormitory door, with regular and quite loud knocks.

"Who's coming to my room at this hour? I thought the school was already closed," Iyuna muttered. She then stood up and walked toward the door with dragging steps to open it. The door handle turned with a soft click.

After the door opened, Sherin stood there in casual clothes, her hair slightly disheveled by the wind, "G-good evening, Iyuna Marge," she greeted nervously, her fingers intertwined in front of her body.

"Oh yeah, good evening. What brings the class president to my dormitory?" asked Iyuna. She then entered with slow steps followed by Sherin, who stepped in hesitantly.

Sherin then sat on the floor, behind Iyuna's table, her knees touching the floor carefully. Iyuna served a bowl of soup she had made, its steam wafting warmly, "Here, eat and give me your opinion," she said, while placing a bowl of soup in front of Sherin, the porcelain bowl gently meeting the table surface.

Sherin looked surprised, her eyebrows raised high, "Eh? Oh, alright," she said. She then spooned the soup, lifting it to her lips with an elegant movement, "Slurrrpp~"

"Oh, this is delicious!" she murmured, her eyes widening in amazement. She then sipped another spoonful, the warm liquid flowing down her throat.

"So, what brings the class president here?" asked Iyuna, leaning her back against the wall with her arms folded across her chest.

"Oh right, I want you to join the grou..." Sherin requested, her body leaning forward hopefully.

Iyuna interrupted her, raising her hand firmly, "No," she refused, her eyes staring sharply without blinking.

"Why? Is there any way to make you want to join? If there is, I'll do it! Anything," said Sherin. She stood up with a quick movement and spoke with a firm tone, the soup bowl trembling on the table.

"Why are you so insistent?" Iyuna asked flatly, her eyebrow slightly raised.

"Because..., because I don't want to disappoint Eid again," said Sherin, looking down, her hand clenched tightly on the table.

"Again?" Iyuna monologued in her heart, her eyes narrowing calculatingly.

"So! I will make you join no matter what! As Eid wishes," said Sherin with determination, her chest puffed out and her head held high.

Iyuna just stared for a moment then sighed deeply, her shoulders slowly dropping, "In that case, I have a challenge for you," Iyuna offered, her index finger pointing at Sherin.

"Challenge?" asked Sherin, beginning to worry, taking a step back with her body tensing.

"That's right, the challenge is to make Arga agree and willing to join your study group," Iyuna said flatly.

"If you succeed, I will join. If you fail..."

"...I will spread your bad past memories to everyone at school," said Iyuna, her eyes flat but intimidating, her body leaning forward with a threatening movement.

Sherin flinched, her step backward worried, her foot almost tripping, "Wait wait wait! How do you know about my past!" she screamed in panic, her face suddenly paling and her hands trembling violently.

"Of course I know, it's something everyone knows," said Iyuna threateningly, smiling coldly while raising her chin.

"Well, I was just guessing though. Seeing Sherin's interactions with others, I can conclude that she once behaved badly in her past and won't let anyone know about it," Iyuna monologued in her heart, her eyes narrowing calculatingly.

"However, her interaction with Eid is different. That means Eid knows about Sherin's past," Iyuna monologued again, her fingers tapping gently on the table.

"So, what do you think?" asked Iyuna, her tone sharp, her eyes staring straight at Sherin without blinking.

"Of course you can refuse. But, never bother me again," Iyuna continued.

Meanwhile, Sherin just remained silent anxiously, her fingers wringing the edge of her shirt until it was wrinkled, cold sweat dripping from her temple.
