Chapter 5:

Kitty's plan

Kitty's neighborhood

Kitty arrived home and, after hiding the spoils, made her way to her sleeping spot. She began licking herself, cleaning up thoroughly. Feeling hungry, she went to fetch some milk. She rubbed herself against the walls a bit, stretched extensively, and returned to her sleeping place. She hadn't fully settled in when she drifted off to sleep.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but the noise in the room woke her up. She half-opened her eyes to understand what was happening. The twins were playing; their mother entered with several bowls of milk. Luna was lying in a corner, and Milo was playing with a ball of yarn.

Kitty wanted to sleep again, but she had to get up; she was hungry and felt a bit heavy. Various thoughts crossed her mind—what would she do if she got caught by Hugo?

She headed towards the door, intending to take a stroll in the city, but Nico called out to her, "Aunt Kitty, what did you bring from the Patiole house?" She suddenly remembered the items. The voice continued, "Your shoes are so pretty."

Kitty went and brought the items. Niki quickly grabbed the bell and said, "This is for me, Aunt Kitty, okay?" Kitty nodded. The others also picked something from the necklaces. She had hidden the pack of dried fish under her sleeping spot; she didn't want to open them just yet.

She hurried towards the door again. The twins' mom said, "Kitty, the kids met someone today." Kitty looked at everyone with wide eyes, examining each of them, then looked back at the twins' mom. She continued, "Fred from the Shuper group was in the park at noon, the same time Luna had gone to see Margaret."

Luna nodded and said, "He's a really nice guy. I was running away from a pet named Colby, a big male dog walking with his owner in the park, when he came to my rescue. With his meows, he distracted the dog so I could escape. Then he came to me and said his name is Fred and he's happy to meet me."

Kitty said, "That's great; he arrived just in time," and left through the door. On the way, she thought about what to do. It occurred to her that it was time to execute her plan. She needed to hit two birds with one stone—settle the score with Hugo and get rid of the male cats.

She thought to herself, "We cats are bold; it doesn't matter if we've had a fight. Now I'll invite him to a gathering."

From afar, Hugo's voice could be heard. She went back to the pet supplies store. The shop's light illuminated the sidewalk. She carefully examined the pre-made small nests with thick and soft mattresses. She took a deep breath with a sigh of longing and continued on her way.

A few steps from the park, she heard Ralfi's voice, "Kitty, you came! I've been waiting for a long time."

She thought to herself, "I feel like making a hearty meal out of Ralfi and eating him..."
