Volume 1. Chapter 17. New Steps and First Sin.

Several days passed. Delgram and his subordinates were still lifting the house's ruins, assisted by the adventurers.

They helped each other rebuild the city tower at one of the gates. Mansa and his old party had a small farewell.

"Cindy, Una… If we meet again, would you like to form a temporary party and carry out requests in this city?"

Sara said to her two friends if they were returning to Norf City.

"We will look forward to that… Sara, Nita."

Una accepted the invitation, as did Cindy.

"So, what are you going to do after this?"

Cini wanted to know what steps Mansa would take.

"We will return to the union and inform them of the attack here."

Mansa said he and his friends would return to the front lines and inform everyone in the union about the attack on Norf City.

"If that is your wish, we will not stop you."

Rii would not interfere in Mansa and his friends' affairs.

"Then, everyone… take care of your health until we return."

After saying goodbye, Mansa and his party left Norf City for the North. Meeting several kings in the Man's kingdom.

While Vail and the others were helping to tidy up the city, a magic circle appeared in the middle of them.

"Circle?"

Everyone was confused by the appearance of the circle.

"Vail,"

Vail understood what Cini was going to say. He was also thinking the same thing.

"Una, Cindy. Can you wait here?"

Vail said, asking them to stay in Norf City.

"Do you know anything about the circle?"

Una wanted to know what they knew.

"We came back quickly because the demon king Neii helped us, and now his magic circle has appeared for the second time."

"I don't understand what happened, but it's okay. We will wait for you here."

Una understood what Rii meant and let them enter the circle.

"Cindy, please tell Elia that I will be back later."

"I will tell her."

"Thank you."

After Cini spoke, the three stepped into the magic circle and disappeared from everyone's sight.

They appeared in the Gerna castle and were surprised to see the demon king Lina sitting on the sofa and enjoying a glass of wine.

"How can you still be alive?"

Cini was surprised to see Lina fine.

"What you saw should have happened, but Neii told me. That I was saved by a mysterious person who protected you."

Lina told them why she was still alive after the great attack of the demon king's ancestor, even though they did not know that the attack belonged to her former master.

"Sit down. There is something we want to discuss with you."

King Ligt asked them to sit down, and they sat as the king said.

"We have heard the incident from the demon king Lina, but. Can we hear more from your perspective?"

King Ligt wanted to know what happened after Lina was transferred to the forest.

They did not mind and talked openly. The purpose of the hero who returned to the Union was to tell the story of the attack that occurred in the city of Norf.

King Ligt was silent momentarily, thinking about something from the three of them's words.

"Healing wounds that are impossible to heal, who is that person?"

Neii was curious about the identity of the mysterious person who protected the people of Norf City.

"Regarding that, the chief of the soldiers named Delgram also said the same thing."

"And one of our friends told me his name is Vail. And the title on that name is the prince of Gerna from another world."

King Ligt, Neii, and Lina were surprised to hear Rii's explanation, which continued Cini's sentence.

"That's all we know about him. The rest is only Una herself, who knows. But, we once eavesdropped on Una's conversation."

"If he had a dream of being in a destroyed world and only left a giant palace and its courtyard. In that place, he also met the prince."

Vail's words made them silent, thinking about all the possibilities.

"King Ligt, can I ask you a question?"

Cini said, which made King Ligt curious.

"Go ahead. What do you want to ask?"

"Since the union has betrayed you and this kingdom, will you take revenge on them?"

King Ligt was shocked to hear Cini's frank words and asked without hesitation.

"I have thought about that, but I want to focus on the problems within my kingdom first."

King Ligt said he would prioritize his kingdom's internal problems until everything was resolved.

"King, before we go back. Can we walk around the city?"

King Ligt was surprised that Rii asked something unnecessary.

"Sure, you are free to do so."

King Ligt allowed them to walk around the capital of the Gerna kingdom. The king felt that his efforts to live alongside humans had paid off.

In the castle corridor, the three of them accidentally passed Clara, who was carrying a trolley to entertain the king's guests.

"Although this is not our first time here, the sight of everyone living side by side with various races in this world."

"Makes my heart calm. How about we bring Una and Cindy to this place?"

Cini said as she saw the human, semi-human, and demon races living side by side.

"We can't do that."

Vail rejected Cini's suggestion.

"Vail is right if we want to bring them. We have to have a house in—"

Rii stopped his words. They heard a woman begging for forgiveness and the laughter of several men.

Without waiting long, they immediately ran towards the sound. And led them to a minor road, seeing a woman being beaten by several thugs.

"Stop!"

All the thugs turned back and put on annoyed faces because three young men appeared to stop their actions.

"Stop? We can't obey your words. This woman must be taught a lesson for hitting one of us until she fell."

Said one of the seven thugs. He pulled the hair of the woman who was helpless on the ground.

"Go away, this is none of your business."

The person's actions annoyed Vail, Rii, and Cini.

"Get your hands off that woman, don't you know shame?"

Rii said, in a mood that was starting to get annoyed.

"Shame? A guilty person is still guilty, no matter who they are."

Said one of the seven men, telling them.

"But, if you are stubborn. Don't complain if we break your hands or legs."

The other six people laughed at their friend's words.

"Beat them up and take their money. I'm sure they have money to buy food, at least."

Six thugs slowly approached, each of them smiling arrogantly.

"Vail, Rii?"

"They're selling, so we have to buy them."

Rii said, asking his two friends to prepare to fight.

A fight was unavoidable. Vail, Rii, and Cini did not use strengthening magic to fight the thugs.

The man who pulled the woman's hair was surprised, even though they outnumbered them. But his friends were trounced.

Cini and Rii beat the thugs without mercy. To the point of killing two of them on the spot, some of them had injuries to their noses.

"Okay, now you're the only one."

Vail said after beating one of the thugs to death because he punched his enemy's face non-stop and crushed the person's skull.

The man released his hand, pulling the woman's hair and falling in fear.

"Please don't kill me, I understand. We were wrong, let me—"

Stopping his words, scared because Cini was already standing before his eyes.

"Regret your actions in hell."

"Don't—"

The man's head fell because Cini kicked him hard enough, and he died instantly. That was their first murder. The shaking all over their bodies was felt.

Vail approached the woman, using recovery magic and bringing her back to consciousness.

"What happened? I should have—"

The woman's eyes widened, seeing several bodies and the heads of the people who had abused her lying on the ground.

"No need to be afraid. We won't hurt you."

Cini said, holding her body, which was shaking badly because she had just killed someone.

"We should leave this place before the soldiers come."

Agreeing with Rii's words, instead of moving away, they were asked by the woman to cure her son, who had fallen ill.

There are mushrooms in several corners of a simple house. They saw a twelve-year-old child lying weakly on the bed.

"Zein, Mother has brought home someone who might be able to cure you."

The woman said to her son, who had been unconscious since suffering from the disease.

"Can you cure the disease my son is suffering from?"

The woman turned to the three young men with full hope.

"We don't know if we can do it, but… let us know what disease he is suffering from."

The woman immediately moved away from her son, allowing Rii to approach Zein and touch his forehead to discover his condition.

Rii used appraisal magic to discover what kind of disease Zein was suffering from.

"Did you find out what the illness is?"

Cini said after seeing Rii pull his hand away from Zein's forehead.

"He has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis."

Rii answered in a low voice and looked at the mother.

"What is Amyoto?"

The woman was so curious and didn't know what name Rii had previously said.

"In short, Zein is paralyzed, and there is no medicine that can cure him."

Hearing Vail's words made the woman collapse helplessly, crying because she knew her son would not open his eyes.

"Zein..."

Rii immediately moved away, allowing the woman to hug her son. They couldn't do anything, not knowing what kind of magic could cure the disease.
