Chapter 1:
School Society
🎵 Opening – 1:30
The music is soft, chill-pop Japanese vibes, creating a calm and reflective atmosphere. Shiroyama walks through the city streets, observing the bustling life around him but not interacting with anyone. As he moves through the crowd, we briefly meet the other characters: Mizuki, yawning and half asleep; Hana, quietly watching from the sidelines; and Arai, standing in front of a movie poster, lost in thought.
End of the intro: All of them are seated together on the school rooftop, the camera pulling back to show the cityscape from above, hinting at their shared journey ahead.
Scene 1 – New Beginning (2 minutes)
Shiroyama arrives at Sakuzaun by train. His inner voice is off-screen:
"New school. New city. Same tiredness."
His aunt greets him at the station, talking non-stop while he just nods, barely engaged. We see his disconnection as he trudges forward into the unknown.
Scene 2 – Class 1-B (4 minutes)
Entering his new classroom, Shiroyama is asked to introduce himself. He stands up, indifferent to the attention.
Shiroyama: "I’m not here to be the best. I just want to finish what I need to and leave."
A few snickers and side comments echo around the room. The teacher tries to smile but can’t quite manage it.
Scene 3 – Lunchtime Alone (3 minutes)
Shiroyama climbs to the rooftop to eat by himself. He sits alone, quietly eating his lunch. The peace is broken when a boy (Mizuki) approaches, sitting next to him without asking.
Mizuki: "You also think the cafeteria’s too loud?"
Shiroyama shrugs, not really responding. It’s a small, silent connection.
Scene 4 – The ‘Weird Group’ (4 minutes)
Days pass, and Mizuki comes back with company:
Hana, who doesn’t speak but observes intently,
Arai, who loves talking about movies but struggles to start the conversation.
They quietly sit next to Shiroyama every lunch. No one forces him into the group; they just make their presence known, a small but significant change.
Scene 5 – Attitude Clash (4 minutes)
In class, Shiroyama is reprimanded for not participating. The model student delegate gives him a scolding look.
Delegate: "What’s the point of being here if you’re doing nothing?"
Shiroyama answers, calm but direct:
Shiroyama: "What’s the point of shining if it’s just to rack up points?"
The room falls silent. A moment of discomfort lingers in the air. But then Hana smiles at him softly from across the room.
Scene 6 – Reflection (2 minutes)
At home, Shiroyama looks out the window, lost in thought. The voice-over returns, pondering his situation.
Voice-over: "Maybe it’s not so bad… being surrounded by people."
💬 Final Line:
"I didn’t ask to be part of their world… but maybe, I’m already in it."
