Chapter 6:
Beastbound
Previously on Resonance Hybrid:
After the Convergence, Kaelen activates the Eye of Quasar. His potential is deemed limitless. A mysterious woman appears, speaking cryptically about the Astralis Order. Now, the students prepare for their next trial: the Aura Duel—a one-on-one combat to reveal their true strength.
Kaelen wakes up late (as usual 😅). The academy’s intercom system blares:
Announcement:
"All students must report to the Astral Arena for the official launch of the Aura Duels."
Kaelen (half-asleep):
"What? Already?! Noooo..."
He jumps out of bed, throws on half his uniform, chomps down on an energy loaf (not great), and bolts through the hallways.
On his way, he bumps into Astrée, head of internal energy studies.
Astrée (teasing):
"Late again, Kaelen? Lucky for you, your match is the last one."
The audience (students, teachers, summons, and other entities) gathers. A massive cube of light hovers at the center—projecting the battles via hologram.
Master Eolenn, the academy’s dean, steps forward.
Eolenn (solemn):
"These Aura Duels are not mere battles. They are the unveiling of your life force. Your aura is the reflection of your truth. Let the duels begin."
Match 1: Zarek vs. Luma
Zarek: volcanic red aura, brute style.
Luma: water-based aura, swift and elusive.
→ Winner: Luma, using a clever astral dissipation technique.
Match 2: Ardyn vs. Elio
Ardyn: black starfield aura, firing void fragments.
Elio: tries a dazzling combo of light attacks…
→ Ardyn crushes him. KO in 12 seconds.
The students are seriously spooked.
[SCENE 3 – KAELEN TAKES THE STAGE 🌀]Kaelen steps into the arena, finally awake, slightly nervous.
Opponent: Sorin, Mirage-type specialist, master illusionist with a chromatic aura.
Voiceover (Kaelen):
"I still don’t have control… but I’ve got no choice."
The match begins.
Sorin spawns dozens of mirage copies. Kaelen is overwhelmed.
Then—the Eye of Quasar pulses.
BLUE FLASH – all illusions shatter into inverted light.
Kaelen feels his power spike, almost losing control—but at the last second, he channels a Gravitational Wave that slams Sorin to the ground.
→ Kaelen wins.
But… his eye is bleeding slightly.
In the stands, the white-haired woman returns—still invisible to all.
??? (voiceover):
"The Eye is responding… too quickly.
If it crosses the Second Fracture before the others awaken...
the Nexus will fall."
