Chapter 16:

A Second Dilemma

Gap Year

They drove back through the city in complete silence - after all, there wasn’t much to talk about. Sure, they had avoided a significant threat, but the battle was only starting, and their enemy was more enraged than ever. There would be many of them, better-equipped and likely coming from multiple sides. They would probably obtain more firearms, completely outgunning them. In fact, that reminded Clement about what he said earlier concerning 3D printing. There was still a chance.

“Hey, William. Get me Channel 2 on this thing.” he said, handing over the radio. His former underclassman obliged.

“Andrew, when I get my hands on you, I’m gonna kill you! Do you copy?”

“Copy. What’s the matter? And say ‘over’ when you’re done. Over.”

“I didn’t say it because I’m not done. Why didn’t you tell me our beloved classmates formed a mob and were the ones I needed to hold off. And why the hell didn’t you tell me they could defend themselves? I made a fool of myself for nothing."

"Sorry, man. Just saving battery power. You're in one piece, so you did well! I believe in you just a bit more than in anyone else, that's all."

Clement swallowed his rage for the confrontation that was to come and switched off the radio. The rest of the drive was relatively uneventful.

Upon reaching the observatory, Clement confronted Andrew, which escalated to a fight, but Jean retook her rightful place as the Club President, formally ordering both of them to stop.

An ambush that Andrew was planning was called off, for fear of loss of human life, of those who had gotten along with them so well at the party the other day, and instead negotiations were favoured.

Andrew opened his computer, and sent Lieutenant Ayotunde, badge number 3864 a message:
"Hello 3864, do you have a Tomahawk missile we could borrow?"
