Chapter 3:

Chapter 2.5: Interlude and Character Introduction

Lucid Dreams

I continued my basketball training, and every morning, Emma and I would find ourselves in the same place, always without saying a word. Each day, I heard the rhythmic sounds of her dancing. Watching her, even from a distance, I could tell she was truly talented. Seeing Emma perform moves worthy of a professional pushed me to train harder. Both of us embodied the desire and drive to improve in our respective passions.

We never spoke—just exchanged glances, sometimes a faint smile. But there was something about that silent routine that connected us.

One day, Caël, my best friend, noticed that I saw her every morning. He mentioned it to his girlfriend, Tania, who happened to be close friends with Emma. Together, they decided to set us up, thinking it might be good for both of us. That’s how, one day, without really understanding how, I found myself sitting across from her in a small restaurant. It wasn’t planned. I had never imagined she might become someone important in my story. But that day, everything began.

**Author’s Note:**

I want to use this unexpected chapter to help you get to know the main characters a little better.

**Jimmy:**

Jimmy is a quiet guy, especially around people he doesn’t know well. His determination and competitive spirit earned him a spot on the basketball team, even if his skills weren’t the best. He has a soft, almost teddy bear-like face, but he’s not unattractive. Beneath his gentle features lies a strong mind and a resilient body. He’s tougher than he looks, both mentally and physically.

**Caël:**

Caël is Jimmy’s best friend. More handsome and muscular, he’s one of the popular guys at school. He’s always with his crew—Jimmy and two other friends (whose stories I haven’t fully developed yet). He spends his days either studying or gaming. He loves teasing Jimmy but is deeply loyal to him, even though their bond will shift as Jimmy changes over time.

**Emma:**

Emma is the popular girl at school. Beautiful and well-liked by everyone, she has a warm and outgoing personality. She’s also curious and already has a lot of experience when it comes to boys. However, behind her smile and straightforward honesty, she hides a painful past—possibly the heaviest story I’ll ever write. She’s always smiling, always direct, and doesn’t sugarcoat anything.

There are many other characters I want to develop, but for now, I’ll stop here. If you spot any inconsistencies, please let me know. I write freely, without a strict plan, although I do have an ending in mind. I enjoy writing this way because it feels more open—but it comes with its own challenges. Thanks for reading, and I hope you

enjoy what comes next!
