Chapter 2:
No ordinary butler
I slowly turned around and walked back into my room. Someone approached the door and knocked lightly.
“Come in.” I responded. The door opened and dad’s large tight body appeared as he approached me.
“You WILL choose one of those men! I briefly glanced at his face as it radiated with anger. I still stood stared out the window in denial, I was NOT going to marry a bag of sludge who doesn’t care about me, I wanted a loving man who I loved and who loved me back…that’s exactly what I was not being offered.
I had drifted in thought when suddenly father had grunted breaking the silence but raised more tension in the room. A knock pounded on the door breaking the silence once again and stopped my heart from racing.

I stood from my plate when everyone else started standing, thinking I could get away with running off then. I had spotted a shadow moving by above; through the slightly stained glass dome ceiling. I then noticed another laser, this time right smack in the center of my chest when it cut out a butler forcefully pushing me back onto the floor. He fell to the floor shortly afterwards. I was still processing it when the nurses arrived to take us away. A faint shadow dissolved into the darkness as they did.
I woke to the soft beating of rain on the window. I shot up in shock, why would he do that!? I thought. I glanced around the room, I had been escorted back to my assigned room. I rushed around and got dressed as that same question whirled around in my head, why would he do that?
I had come to the ball to have a good time and enjoy myself maybe meet a cute guy, but instead I just ended up almost being shot and a peasant save my highly treasured life. I wanted to know why. I strode down the corridors with haste. A maid led me to the room he was held, the man who had done that terribly heroic thing for all the wrong reasons, he probably did it for fame! I entered the room with caution…
