Moonlight broke through shattered tree canopies as sparks of flame and void magic collided. Renjiro’s katana, Kagerou no Seigi, clashed with the obsidian blade of the Shadow Cultist. Each strike sent shockwaves through the cursed forest.
Beside him, Kaoru Akegami fought like a storm — fast, disciplined, deadly. The two swordsmen moved in perfect rhythm, back-to-back, covering each other's blind spots.
> Renjiro (breathing heavily):“Didn’t I tell you to stay at the Temple?”


> Kaoru (grinning):“Yeah. And you didn’t say goodbye. Again. So I thought I’d come slap some sense into you with a sword.”


They parried another wave of attackers — more cloaked cultists emerged from the trees.

[Scene: Temple of the Twelve Stars – Simultaneously]
Amiya knelt in the Hall of Echoing Prayers, surrounded by candles. Her hands trembled in the prayer seal, yet her thoughts weren't on peace.
> Amiya (thinking):"Renjiro... you idiot. Always running toward the fire. And I keep letting you go without stopping you."


Tears welled up. Not out of fear, but frustration.
> Amiya (softly):“If you die out there without ever knowing how much I—”


She stopped herself. The words hurt more than silence.
Suddenly, a vision shimmered in the prayer flames — Renjiro, bloodied but fighting. Her breath caught.
> Amiya (whispers):“Come back. Please.”

[Scene: Black Vein Forest – Battle Turns]
The battle raged. One cultist chanted in an ancient tongue, summoning a Void Chimera — a monstrous fusion of shadow beasts and dark spirits.
> Kaoru (eyes wide):“That’s a Voidborn. We’re not equipped for this!”


> Renjiro (calmly):“Then we adapt.”


He stabbed his sword into the earth and roared:
> Renjiro:“Flame Seal: Crimson Cage!”


Fire erupted around them, forming a blazing dome that imprisoned the beast — for now.
> Kaoru:“You’ll burn yourself alive using that much energy!”


> Renjiro (quietly):“Better me than everyone else.”


A moment of silence passed. Kaoru looked at him, truly looked.
> Kaoru:“You know... it’s not just the war you keep inside you. It’s her. Amiya.”


Renjiro flinched.
> Kaoru:“You fight like a man with nothing left to lose. That’s not strength. That’s desperation.”


The fire cracked.
> Renjiro (whispering):“I love her, Kaoru. Since we were kids. But what future does a cursed flame have with light like hers?”


The chimera roared from inside the cage.
> Kaoru:“Then live long enough to find out. Or I’ll make sure your ghost regrets it.”


They charged.

Master Kazutora, the last Flame Monk, stood before the fire mirror, watching his students in battle.
> Kazutora (thinking):"Two swords, one silence. Love kept in shadow is love still alive. But how long before the silence kills them both?"

The chimera was slain. The cultists vanished. Smoke rose from the scorched earth.
Renjiro collapsed to his knees, breath shallow, body bruised.
Kaoru knelt beside him.
> Kaoru (softly):“You're still here. That’s enough for now.”


> Renjiro (gazing at sunrise):“No… not enough. I need to tell her. One day. Before it's too late.”


Kaoru smiled faintly.
> Kaoru:“Then live long enough for that day.”


The sun rose. A new silence began.
