Chapter 49:
Saphira Noctielle
The blue tower was still sleeping, slowly breathing under its vault of silent stars very early, far too early for the rest of the world, Saphira opened her eyes silently, barefoot on the warm flagstones, she descended to Destiny's library there, on a shelf no one touched, she found a thick grimoire, covered in an almost magical dust: Origins of Fictional Universes, Volume Infinity. she turned the first pages a bubble suddenly appeared in a flash of ink.
POOF!
A message displayed, floating in the air: Do you really want to see if Super Potato exists? Sign here: ___________________
Saphira grabbed a glitter pen and signed, without hesitation. In the throne room, a strange door appeared, black and white, hand-drawn as in a comic book, framed with BAM!, ZING!, and other scribbled sounds. Élya, in soft armor pajamas, entered, rubbing her eyes: "Are you leaving already?"—"I'm going to a drawn world," Saphira replied. "I want to see if Super Potato is truly real." Élya sighed, then grabbed a foam helmet hanging from a flying doll. "Wait for me, I'm coming."
They crossed the door and fell into a paper Universe the sky changed color with every emotion, the trees were erased sentences, the roads, margin lines suddenly, a voice erupted. WHO DARES ENTER THE COMIC BOOK DIMENSION?! Bubbles burst into stars, and a character emerged from nowhere. Super Potato floated there, red cape, pink skin, cosmic fry in hand. "I am the menace of caricatures, the scourge of syntax errors, the destroyer of narrative walls!" Saphira, stunned, looked at him with admiration. —"Oh my god, he really exists."
Super Potato circled her, floating in a movable panel. —"Are you here to challenge my logic? my power, my talent for breaking the fourth wall?!" Élya, perplexed, tilted her head: "Is he cooked?" —"No, I'm fried."
Saphira burst out laughing, bending over:"I am Saphira Noctielle, Queen of the Tower. Protector of the dream multiverse, and number one fan of your adventures." Super Potato crossed his arms and declared. —"Then you must pass the trial of the three panels."
She had to rewrite a illogical dialogue, invert the colors of the sky, and exit the page. Saphira smiled. "I've read Stephen King and dreamed my own tower do you think that will scare me?" she snapped her fingers the panel crumpled she stepped out of it: "Tadaaa."
Super Potato applauded, still floating on a living comma: "You are officially worthy of a cosmic crossover we'll invite you to the next issue." Saphira smiled: "And you'll come taste my dreamy cookies."
Back at the tower, Saphira and Élya passed through the door with a bag full of scribbled memories on the throne, Saphira discovered a sticker stuck on her back:"I survived the comic book world! and all I got was this super-vegetable cape."
