Chapter 1:

can in a different country

I Moved to Japan and Fell for a Centaur Commander!

The airport is bustling. Can, an American, stands at customs, his worn leather jacket showing the weight of his journey. His travel weary expression lingers as he meets the customs officer’s gaze.

The officer greets him. "Where are you coming from?"

"America," Can replies.

The officer nods. "Welcome to Japan."

Can gives a small nod in return.

The customs officer gestures toward the metal detector. Can steps forward, waiting for confirmation.

A moment passes.

Then he’s cleared.

"You’re free to go," the officer says.

Not thinking much of it, can heads toward baggage claim, weaving through the crowd.

he retrieves his suitcases only to notice his bag isn’t zipped up properly. A flicker of unease creeps in had someone gone through it.

He quickly checks inside, searching for the gun safe where his revolver was supposed to be. But it’s missing.

Just as worry starts to settle in, his phone buzzes. A call from his mom.

He answers.

"Hey, can, his mom says, "just wanted to let you know your gun case got sent home. I put your revolver in the gun safe in your room."

Can exhales, relieved. Thanks, Mom."

Hi, can!" his sister chimes in from the background.

He barely acknowledges her, already focused elsewhere. He dislikes her but ignores it.

Talk later. Thanks again." He hangs up.

Only now does it truly dawn on him Japan has strict no gun policies. Good thing U.S. customs caught it and sent it home before it caused any trouble.

He moves through the crowd of people and monsters,

he grabs his bags and stepping outside into Japan’s dense, unfamiliar atmosphere.)

(he hails a taxi and steps inside) (the ride is quiet)

Can gazes out the window at the city a maze of neon lights, crowded streets, and towering buildings. It's nothing like home.)

The taxi slows to a stop. Can pays the fare, steps onto the pavement, and looks up. The building is smaller than he pictured worn at the edges, its paint peeling in places. He exhales, taking it in. Not quite what he expected. But for now, it’s his. He heads inside and spots the landlord a small, elderly Japanese woman with sharp eyes that cut through her age. Her voice is sweet. "

Are you Can?" He nods. "Yeah. That’s me. Without another word, she hands him the key, watching him closely, as if sizing him up. He hesitates before taking it, nods in thanks, then steps inside. Boxes are stacked against the walls. Empty spaces where furniture should be. Silence, too thick. He exhales, setting his bags down before getting to work. Clothes into the drawers. Books onto the shelves. He assembles the furniture, filling the emptiness

He removes his holsters, staring at them for a moment before shoving it into a drawer. Not like he will need them here. He grabs a fresh pair of clothes and steps into the bathroom. Hot water runs over his skin, soaking into tired muscles, washing away the exhaustion of the flight. He finishes his shower, dries off, and pulls on fresh clothes. As he steps toward the door, his gaze catches on his phone resting on the table. He walks over to it and checks the time, then slips it into his pocket. He steps outside, locking the door behind him with a quiet click. he Might as well see what Japan has to offer," he steps onto the sidewalk, feeling the solid weight of the pavement beneath his feet

next line goes down btw don forget

He wanders, the distant murmur of conversations filling the space around him. People move in clusters, humans and hybrids.

The city has its own rhythm, a pulsing heartbeat of voices, footsteps, and street vendors

Can was just a normal human with talent and abilities. No special bloodline. No monster ancestry. Just an ordinary human in a world where humans were rare. He turns into the next street something didn't feel right street was quiet. Then, he hears it. A struggle.Across the street, a group of thugs surround someone, their voices sharp and aggressive. Three men are trying to rob someone. Can's gaze locks onto the scene. Three men, surrounding a single figure. Tall. Proud. A centaur. Can has read about her. Her name is Zenara. A centaur commander, known for being strict and fearsome. No man would dare challenge her or step in her path. She has been single all her life because of it. What Can also know about her is that she was the last survivor of a big battle. She was the only one still standing despite taking countless hits. She is still commanding troops and training recruits. She is 28 and has been doing this for 6 years. Can is 21 Close in age, but different background and skills apart. can used to be a sniper for the police force for he used to live in America, but he is no longer in the force but that doesn't come anywhere close to what she does. Every man fears her. So why would they try to rob her if she is so feared and well known in the area? Then, one of the thugs pulls out a gun.

Can sees why now.

They do not just want to rob her.

They want to hurt her. Or worse.

His breath sharpened.

His body felt light.

He felt the adrenaline. He felt aggressive and scared, yet so strong.

Then, one of the thugs raised his gun, eyes cold with malice

Can entered a high state of rage after seeing thatAnd then he moved. Can rushed toward the first thug, closing the distance in an instant. The thug swung. Can ducked and countered. The thug collapsed, falling unconscious. The second thug rushed at Can, pulling out a knife. Can charged forward, taking a slash to the arm, but countered and knocked the thug out.

Every movement was calculated.

Zenara watched, her expression unreadable.

Was she impressed?

Can didn't pay any mind.

His aggression was at its peak,

The third thug ran off with the gun.

Zenara, stood frozen, still processing what had just happened. She didn’t say a word.

Then, movement.

The last thug came back.

The thug raised his gun. Can saw the barrel shift toward Zenara.

The thug attempted an ambush.

The trigger was pulled.

Can saw the rounds tearing through the air, heading straight for her.

He wouldn't make it.

Then, it happened.

Everything stopped.

No sound. No movement.

The street fell silent as he realized his ability had activated.

Can moved.

He ran to her. The bullets hung in the air, motionless in midair.

With time at a standstill, he reached her. He braced his body in front of her, putting himself between Zenara and the incoming rounds.

Time resumed. The bullets hit.

Pain exploded upon impact, but something was off.

The rounds shattered against his skin, breaking apart like brittle glass.

Plastic rounds.

His fury spiked.

That wasn’t just an attack. It was humiliation. A sick joke.

Can turned, ready to rush the thug in blind rage.

But the moment he pushed forward, he felt weak.

His ability had cost him.

It made his wounds worse.

He gritted his teeth, his body betraying him at the worst possible time.

Can looked at the thug, his eyes full of rage.

The thug, eyes wide with fear, turned and ran.

He looked at his wound and exhaled, struggling to stay upright. His breath was ragged and uneven.

Are you okay?" he asked.

Zenara nodded.

(Can noticed it instantly. Blood trickled down her arm a small cut from a stray plastic round.)(Not bad but enough to make his rage spike all over again.)

(Without thinking, Can ripped the bottom of his shirt, tearing off a strip to patch her up.)

(The fabric tore more than he meant to exposing part of his chest.) Zenara’s amber eyes flickered downward for just a second. Her breath hitched. Then, her heart pounded. A warmth spread across her face. She had noticed the scar but that wasn’t what had caught her attention. She was staring at his abs

She quickly looked away.

Something stirred in her, deep and unfamiliar. A warmth.

Can barely noticed.

His focus was locked on her wound as he secured the fabric against the cut.

Zenara felt her heart pounding.

She stood up. She knew he was the one. She tried to mutter a word a thank you

But the words never came.

Then, a loud gallop echoed through the streets.

Can and Zenara turned toward the sound.

A large centaur infantry was approaching. Her infantry.

They rushed over to assist her.

When they noticed Can, their hands went to their swords.

Can was still injured, and the thunderous gallop was stressing him.

He stopped time before they could get close.

He looked at his wounds,

then turned to her.

 She was frozen

He knew she couldn't move,

but she probably couldn't hear or see him

So he spoke the first thing that came to mind, with full confidence.

He said out loud, "She’s beautiful, and I would marry her if I could.

Not knowing she could hear him, his words sank deep, intensifying her love for him.

She felt a burning desire to make Can hers, no matter what.

When time resumed, he was gone.

The infantry arrived at her side, ready for orders.

But she barely heard them.

She was still hearing his words.

Words spoken in frozen time, words she was never meant to hear.

She’s beautiful, and he would marry me if he could.

It echoed in her mind, deep and unshakable.

Her chest tightened, her heart beating faster than she was used to.

She had fought battles. Led armies. Faced death without flinching.

Everyone feared her.

Yet he did not. He had risked his life for her.

No one had ever been this reckless,

this fearless, this selfless just to protect her.

No one had ever stepped into the line of fire without hesitation,

without expectation, without thinking twice.

For all her strength, for all her pride,

this human had done something no warrior had ever done for her

he had touched her heart.

And she felt something.

Something new.

Something real.

She felt a burning love.

She looked at the spot where Can had just been again

Empty.

For the first time, she craved something not victory, not strength, but

love. She wanted to see him again.

She wanted him.

Can barely escaped the infantry’s pursuit.

He made it home, changed his clothes, and placed his shirt on the chair before heading to the nearest hospital to get his arm patched up. can felt like he forgot something, but he shrugs it off he forgot to lock his door

The next day.

She had tried to resist it.

The pull. The thoughts.

The lingering sensation of him from the night they met.

But forgetting was impossible.

She had tracked down his house, her heart beating faster with every step.

She found Can’s home.

Standing before the door,

she hesitated.

Madness, Reckless, Stupid, but it was love.

A love that made her move.

She knocked

Silence

She knocked again, firmer this time.

Still no answer.

Her pulse quickened.

Where was he?

She reached for the doorknob hesitated then turned it. It clicked.

Unlocked.

Her breath hitched.

Had fate decided this for her?

Had love guided her here?

She wasn’t a thief.

She wasn’t a spy.

She wasn’t a soldier sneaking behind enemy lines.

But right now...

She wasn’t a commander either.

She was a woman, lost in love a force she barely understood.

She pushed the door open, stepping inside.

Her hooves clopped against the wooden floor, far too loud in the quiet space.

She paused, listening. No movement.

No one home.

She exhaled, slowly.

She was here. In his house.

The air wrapped around her,

his scent She walked further inside, her hooves clicking against the floor.

Then, she saw it.

A shirt draped over the chair. Torn.

She reached for it.

It was the same shirt he ripped to patch her wound.

she inspected the torn fabric

It was his shirt

She ran her fingers over the fabric,

taking in its worn texture.

The memory of that night surged back

his touch,

his presence, the way he stood up for her

She had fought wars, led soldiers, faced death without blinking.

She barely knew him, yet in a single day,

he had become impossible to forget

Zenara: (Muttering) "I want... You’re mine.

Then A sound.

A presence.

A woman stepped into the doorway.

The landlord.

Landlord: (Amused) Are you, his girlfriend? Zenara froze.

The old landlord stood in the doorway, watching her with quiet curiosity.

Warmth flooded Zenara’s face.

The landlord sighed,

shaking her head not with disapproval,

but with knowing amusement.

Landlord: (Calmly) if you want a man, sneaking into his home isn’t the best approach

Zenara swallowed hard.

Was she really being lectured right now?

But instead of denying it, she spoke the truth.

Zenara: (Firmly, without hesitation) I came to ask for his hand in marriage.

Silence.

The landlord raised an eyebrow, her lips pressing together in thought.

She had expected embarrassment.

Stammering. Denial.

Not this. Not honesty.

Her gaze flickered over

Zenara, measuring her.

Landlord: (Quietly) Marriage, huh?

Zenara met her gaze, unwavering.

Zenara: (Softly) He touched my heart, unlocking a door I never knew existed

Her voice was steady, but her heart raced.

She wasn’t just saying words.

She was admitting something she had never spoken aloud

before.

The landlord studied her for a long moment—then sighed, a slow, knowing breath.

Landlord: (Gentle amusement) "Well. He was discharged today. He’s arriving home right now."

Zenara stiffened. Right now.

She had minutes. Maybe seconds.

She was standing in his home, holding his shirt with nowhere to hide.

And if Can walked through that door, she wasn’t sure what she would do.

Outside, a taxi pulls up, its tires skidding against the pavement. The faint hum of the engine dies as the door opens.

Zenara stiffened. He’s coming. The thought slammed into her mind.

She ran inside, hooves clacking frantically against the floor as she darted for cover,

she was knocking stuff over. She barely had time to think she just moved.

Heart hammering, she ducked behind a stack discarded boxes, pressing herself low,

breath quick and uneven.

can pay his fare and thank the drive still a bit injured form his wound and weak he walks to his house

he notices the landlord by his door he a porch approach her

The landlord stood nearby, watching as he scanned his movements.

can notice this door open

Can: (confusion) "Did someone break in?

zenara heard him

Zenara holding her mouth, trying not to mutter a word.

The landlord barely flinched Landlord: (Casually) No.

(A pause. Then) "I was just testing the locks."(A lie.)

Can’s gaze swept across the apartment, lingering just a second too long. Something felt off.The room was a bit messier than he remembered but then again, maybe he had left it that way before he left for his walk yesterday.

He sighed, deciding not to dwell on it.

Can: Alright… Thanks.

(He nodded to the landlord, then stepped inside, shutting the door behind him.

the landlord she let out a small smile)

(She turned and walked away.

Zenara remained perfectly still.

can didn’t see her.

Didn’t sense her presence.

She was hiding for now.

Can stepped inside, tiredly. He had been discharged, but exhaustion still stayed

Something felt off.

He paused.

A faint scent lingered in the air A woman’s perfume

he brushed the thought aside.

He didn’t have the energy to deal with it right now

walking to the couch he set up yesterday drop onto the cushions, sighing he gets on the couch inspecting his arm. he was right next to the stack of boxes the very ones

Zenara was hiding by the boxes next to the couch

Zenara barely breathed.

Her heart pounded against her chest, each beat shaking her to the core.

She was lost in thought what would he think if he finds her and how would he react.

The feeling of him being in the same room with her was making her feel like this wild love for him completely

She had never felt anything like this before. Never felt something so raw,

But here she was hiding like a fool,

Slowly, carefully, she peeked through a small gap between the boxes,

trying to see where he was

Her breath hitched.

Can was undoing his shirt

He pulled it over his head, inspecting his torso, searching for wounds but there were none.)(Only a scar remained.

long mark across his chest. The memory was painful he didn't want to dwell on it

Zenara hold hands to her mouth,

forcing herself not to make a sound.

But her mind was spiraling, desperate, lost in him.

She had seen warriors. Fighters. Soldiers with battle worn bodies.

But right now?

With him so close? With nothing between her gaze and his bare torso?

She was doing everything in her power not to stare. Not to let herself react.

Her breathing uneven.)

can reach for a water bottle and accidently spilled water on his abs

(Then)

zenara couldn't keep quiet from the scene she just saw

she made a loud squeal it was to much for her

Can heard and noticed her.

Their eyes met.

His expression twisted in shock.

He jolted back too fast off the couch falling,

And the next second

He fell. Right off the couch.*Zenara rose, her eyes locked onto Can.

She wasn’t going to let him escape. Can tried to move back, but in his injured, weakened state, he barely got far before his back hit the wall nowhere left to run.

She was faster, hooves clicking sharply against the floor.

Instinctively,

Can shielded himself, but nothing happened.

Slowly, he lowered his injured arm, looking up

only to find Zenara towering over him.

Get up, she commanded, her voice firm and unwavering.

Can let out a nervous chuckle.

So I’m guessing you like being dominant.

That’s good I like a woman who knows what she wants

Her cheeks turned red,

but he refused to argue. Instead,

he stood up slowly, feeling her watch him.

Before he could react, she placed a hand against the wall beside him,

Can could feel her heartbeat wild, unsteady. And his own?

Just as erratic.

Then, she reached for his face, inspecting him carefully before murmuring

I heard what you said.

You think I’m beautiful. You… wanted to get married.

she had trouble saying that but i came out

Can froze.

(His own heart was racing,

he was shocked he thought she couldn't hear him when time was stop but also,

He refused to let his emotions get the better of him.

So instead, he joked.)Can: (Smirking) take me to dinner first if you’re gonna start making moves like this.

The comment hit her like a shockwave.

Before either of them could react further

The landlord open the door can forgot to lock and walk inside.

Landlord: (Casually) You forgot your bag.

The landlord’s eyes flicked over the scene

can is against the wall,

Zenara, infront of him,

(She raised an eyebrow, unimpressed but amused.

Zenara notice the landlord standing staring at the both of them

zenara instantly turn to the landlord and fix her uniform and got back into commander mode, straightening her posture, trying to regain control.

Zenara: Commanding voice, despite her flustered state

then turns to can and say to can

Can will you marry me.

(Can blinked.)

(He hadn’t expected that at least not so bluntly.

But he did feel something for her.

Can: (shrugged then he then mustered the courage)

yes, i will marry you.

the words were hard to get out, but he said them

Zenara felt something after hearing those words something it made her happy and warm

but can wasn't gonna let this go one thing go

Can: But under one condition.

Zenara and the landlord look at can hearing his next words.

Can was thinking. He had feelings for her, but he wanted to say this the one thing to keep his identity as American And one thing was not negotiable

Can: (Smirking) You can’t tell me I can’t keep a gun.

Zenara and the landlord paused exchanging glances before they both replied

Landlord & Zenara: Guns are illegal in Japan

Can quickly countered

Can: But an air gun isn’t.

Zenara sighed, realizing she wasn’t going to win this argument.

Zenara: (Defeated but firm) Fine. It’ll be here later.

Can: (says to the landlord)You didn’t have to do that, you know my bag was heavy.

Landlord: (Casually) I didn’t want them to get rain on

can remembered looking at the weather before he left yesterday it suppose to rain today    but he didn't dawn on that thought

Can stretching slightly, he had a big smirk

Can: (Teasing) So you want to have a honeymoon now?

(Zenara froze shocked it only made her heart pound again

The landlord, who had just been standing there, left instantly. No words. No hesitation.

Just gone as soon as she heard that

she wanted to give them some privacy

Her commander instincts shattered on the spot

Her mind raced too fast, too chaotic, too much.

Can had some trouble saying it, but somehow, he did he felt a warm in his chest

He wasn’t sure what it was, but he refused to let it get the better of him

But Zenara? She felt alot of overwhelming emotions love and embarrassment

She bolted her face burning, a flustered yelp escaping before she vanished through the door

Can blinked after watching Zenara bolt.

can wasn't expecting that to work better then he anticipated.

can didn't mind if she was here but he didn't want her to watch him clean, so he said that

With a sigh, looking at the mess

can went to the door and locked it

after a bit can clean up the whole mess

can then stepped into the bathroom.

He needed a shower A long, hot shower.

while he was in the shower

he looks at the wound he got form one of the attackers form yesterday

can look at the stitching then didn't pay no mind to it and just finish his shower

After finished his shower,

he dried off and threw on a fresh set of clothing

Knock. Knock.

He paused, then opened it seeing the air gun waiting for him.

A small grin crossed his face. Finally.

Something that feel kind of familiar.

He places the box on the table he opens the box and began putting the air gun together appreciating every detail.

an hour has past when she left it was the sky got cloudy

zeara came back to his house standing outside,

she try the door but its look she start staring at the locked door.

She clicked her tongue, slightly irritated.

Zenara: (Thinking) He shouldn’t be locking doors on his wife.

She had never thought she’d marry never imagined it would be to a human. But his species didn’t matter to her

Yet here she was, adorned in centaur marriage attire,

rings in hand,

ready to step into a future she once believed impossible.

And still, the thought filled her with joy

She had made up her mind.

She was going in. Tonight they will get married and say their vows

She stepped inside, nervous hooves clicked on the floor

Then she heard Can talking.

questioning who he talking to

She slowly walked toward the bedroom, emotions surging ready for whatever was about to happen.

She pushed the door open

Only to find

Can. Sitting in a chair.

Reading his gun a bedtime story.

Silence.

Zenara just stared.

Can didn't pay much attention to her he just kept reading to the gun

Zenara’s got a bit mad

Zenara: (Yelling) What the hell are you doing?!

Can completely unbothered.

Can: (Casually) "You don’t read your guns a bedtime story?

Zenara’s brow twitched, her voice flat

Zenara: "No. We don’t.

Can finally looks at her then freezes in mid story

His gaze flickers to her outfit. His expression shifts to shock.

Can: (Startled and flustered) "Why are you dressed like that?

Zenara stiffens slightly, then recovers, lifting her chin proudly.

showing the marriage attire

Zenara: (Hesitant but hopeful) "Do you like it?

Can exhales, rubbing the back of his neck

can: yes

Zenara brightened instantly, a flicker of satisfaction lighting in her gaze.

Zenara reached into her pocket

(She pulled out the rings.

Can’s felt his heart race.

She stepped forward, pressing one of the rings into his palm.

Her voice was steady commanding, but her fingers trembled slightly against his.

Zenara: (Low, unwavering) Marry me.

Can felt her words hit him deep in his already beating heart and look her and the ring, then at her.

Her eyes held no hesitation, no doubt only pure certainty.

His heartbeat thumped louder than it should.

Then he spoke

Can: (in a confident voice, with meaning) I’ll marry you.

Zenara felt, something deep and heavy settling into her chest.

she felt a warmth in her heart.

She lifted her hand, sliding the ring onto her finger.

Can followed, slipping his own onto his finger.

For a moment just a heartbeat nothing else existed.

Then

Zenara exhaled,

snapping herself out of whatever had just hit her.

She wanted to go somewhere private to talk.

Zenara glanced at Can, then at the gun resting in bed tuck in.

Zenara: (Casually) How about we go to another room?

Can gave her a curious look but nodded.

Can: Alright.

They moved to the kitchen,

standing face to face at the table in the kitchen

Can felt something in his chest heavy unexplainable but it made him happy.

Zenara felt it too.

The tension was real

 So Can broke it.

Can: (Straightforward) "So, how long have you been commanding?

(Zenara blinked, slightly taken aback by the sudden question.

She hadn’t expected him to ask about her career, let alone with genuine curiosity.

She hesitated

 then answered

watching his expression carefully.

Can listened intently,

his curiosity deep,

encouraging her to continue.

He had always thought her infantry and leadership were cool

Can tilted his head, thinking.)Can: (Curious) "What weapons do you use?

(Zenara smirked slightly.)

Zenara: "Sword."(Can nodded, thoughtful.)Can: (Casually) Oh.

(Zenara raised an eyebrow, intrigued.)

Zenara: (Light teasing) How do you know about me?

(Can shrugged, but there was a hint of amusement in his voice.

Can: I read books about you.

Something about that made Zenara unexpectedly happy

She tilted her head, eyes glinting playfully

Zenara: (Joking) "Alright, your turn. What weapons do you use?

Can lit up instantly his energy shifting in a way Zenara wasn’t prepared for.

Can: (Excited) Snipers, assault rifle pistols but mostly snipers.

(Zenara chuckled, enjoying his enthusiasm.)

Zenara: (Still playful) "Have you ever missed with a sniper?

can felt a bit uneasy hearing about missing can change the subject

Can: I took down a balloon from 300 meters away.

Zenara paused, skeptical.)

Zenara: (Doubtful) You’re lying right

(Can leaned back, shaking his head.

Can: "I used to be in the police force in when I use to live in America

(zenara Police, huh? That means you’ve spent your life bring people to justice)

are you still a police force

can: no, it's a bit painful reason why I left

(can: is it ok if I tell you)

zenara:(worried) yes if you want to

Zenara looks up she can see it in his eyes a deep regret

can: it's a bit painful but you're the only person who I can trust to tell

His hands rested in his lap then he spoke)

Can: I took down criminals left and right by Shot their weapons with my high caliber weapon making them unable to fight My team would rush in and arrest them

Then his expression shifted.

His breath slowed. His gaze darkened.

Can: (Soft, strained) But one day everything went wrong.

Zenara’s gaze flickered, watching him carefully now.

Can: (Slowly, painfully said) I was stationed on a tall building.

A sniper position.

overlooking a bank

She could hear the way he forced himself to recall it like peeling back an old wound that never fully healed

can: I accidentally bumped my ammo box knocking it off the building

they didn't hit anyone but only one bullet didn't fall off

Can: (Anger creep) And the round it was push in but form across the street the criminal was getting a bit aggressive he was demanding his money,

or he kill a hostage didn't have any ammo left so

I still put it in my sniper

Can: (Bitter, full of self-blame) I should’ve stopped

ask my team to by me some time

can: but I didn't I took the shot.

Can: And the gun exploded I fell back a big wound open on my chest

the round still fired leaving he barrel still

can: I held my bleeding wound the pain was unbearable but I still I got up and I saw it the damage was already done

can : it killed the criminal instantly

I fell back down the pain was unbearable

my team saw the explosion some of my team secure the scene and the other check on me and when they made it to the roof top

I pass out form blood lost I woke up in the hospital

Can: It was supposed to hit his gun, but it didn't

She saw it how the regret settled deep in deep

Zenara stood up,

her hooves clicking softly against the floor gentle,

She stopped behind him.

Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around him

Not firm. Not forceful Just there.

Zenara: (Soft, unwavering) "It's okay. It's not your fault accidents happen

Can tensed under her hold, his breath uneven but he didn’t pull away

Zenara: (Gently) "Please… don’t let your past haunt you.

Can heard her words. He tried not to cry but he couldn’t hold it back.

A small sob escaped

A drop landed on her arm.

Then another.

Then another.

Can then started crying.

Zenara stayed.

She didn’t pull him close,

didn’t say a word.

She just remained there

She just held him there,

letting him have this moment,

letting him cry.

For the first time

it wasn’t just his grief.

It wasn’t just his mistake.

It wasn’t just his guilt.

For the first time

it wasn’t his burden alone.

Can wiped his tears away his voice uneven

Can: (Quietly) Sorry. I ruined the mood.

Zenara shook her head, not letting him retreat into guilt.

Zenara: You didn’t.Zenara: (Steady, raw) I lost my father in battle.

Zenara: He risked his life to save me.

And I survived.

Zenara: (Quiet, but firm)

But he didn’t.

Can didn’t speak he lift his hand and put it on her hand

zenara: I swore to be the best commander there is

can: voice went back to normal

zenara: Please don’t carry this pain alone

I share my pain with you,

and

you share your pain with me

A knock at the door

Zenara tensed slightly,

stepping back as Can stood and walked toward it.

Can opened the door to find the delivery guy waiting.

After a quick exchange,

he paid for the food and brought it inside.

The rich aroma filled the room.

Zenara caught the scent but pretended it didn’t affect her

Can: "Hey, Zenara, do you want some?

I Usually buy extra so I have leftovers for later.

Zenara: (Refusing) I’m fine.

But her stomach betrayed her,

letting out a quiet growl.

Can chuckled, already preparing a plate for her and another for himself.

They sat together, eating, laughing, letting the warmth of the moment push aside any lingering tension.

sometime past and zenara check her phone

Zenara: "Hey, Can.

Can: Yeah?

Zenara: "I should go home before it starts raining.

But it was too late.

Rain had already begun, pattering against the windows.

Can: (Concerned) Are you sure you want to go?

You might get sick.

You don’t have a coat, and…

well, you’re still in marriage attire.

Zenara flushed, realizing she had completely forgotten.

Zenara: (Flustered) A little rain won’t hurt anyone.

Can: (Sighs) Fine, if you insist.

But I also don’t want you going home empty handed.

zenara:(questioning can) what do you mean

can got up and got close to her

Her face turned bright red, heart pounding.

Can stepped toward her, heartbeat quickening.

Zenara didn’t move away.

He leaned in.

She did too.

Their lips met soft, deep, lingering.

A pause.

Zenara: (Quietly) "I should head home.

Can: Okay. Do you want me to walk you there?

Zenara: I’ll be fine.

Can opened the door and was instantly soaked as heavy rain poured down.

Can: (Joking) "I think it’s raining pretty badly.

Zenara laughed at the sight of him.

Can chuckled nervously.

Zenara: (Still laughing) I’ve been through plenty of battles.

I’ll be fine.

Her laughter faded slightly.

Can: (Handing her an umbrella) Are you sure?

Won’t you get sick?

Or trip?

Zenara: (Insisting) "I’ll be okay.

Can opened the door for her.

She barely stepped outside when

A deafening thunderclap tore through the air.

She jumped back inside,

trying to act unaffected but Can wasn’t buying it.

Can: (Softly) "It’s okay. You don’t have to force yourself to go outside if you don’t want to.

Zenara: (Scoffs) I’m not afraid of anything.

Another thundercrack echoed louder this time.

She flinched. Can: I have a spare bed if you’d rather stay.

Zenara hesitated then nodded.

can grab the unopened umbrella from her hand and set it aside.

can went to the other room and gone to his bedroom

Can carrying the spare bed,

he sets it up beside his own placing his air gun securely in one of the drawers before finishing the setup.

Can handed her a blanket.

Zenara took it gratefully.

His bed was far too small for her centaur frame,

but the spare one fit perfectly.

She settled in and within moments,

she was fast asleep.
