Inside the sanctuary, Luna, Spider, and a recovering Jason, now propped up with a synth-stim drip, watched the holographic maps. The entire global network was a patchwork of red and black – system failures, communication blackouts, critical infrastructure collapses. But amidst the chaos, new, faint green signals were emerging: localized, decentralized networks springing up, small communities finding ways to communicate, to cooperate, to survive without the Architect's oversight.
"It's like… the world's rebooting," Spider murmured, awe in his voice. "From scratch."
Jason, still pale but with a new clarity in his eyes, looked at the emergent green lights. "Not from scratch. From us. From the people who remember how to live without the master's hand." He felt a strange combination of exhaustion and exhilaration. The pain in his head was immense, but so was the burgeoning hope.
