Hiroshi Akuma lived in Japan, and at seventeen years old, he didn't have much. His parents abandoned him when he was very young, and he lived in a care home. Despite always trying to help people, he never got thanked. 

Hiroshi always hated how selfish people were, and took everything for granted.

He was dropped into a new world, where he didn't fare much better. Villagers assumed he was a threat, and tried to kill him. They fed him to a Darkness Demon, and Hiroshi accepted his fate, ready to give up.

The demon was intrigued by Hiroshi's ideals, and they became friends. They wiped out the village, and Hiroshi gave the demon the name Kuro-Yami. They travelled to the next village of Lightley, where they killed a general of the country Acebia, the country he was currently in. Despite this, the village respected him, and promoted him to leader.

After getting caught in a bad situation with reinforcements, he is saved by a hunter called Wisteria Itsumi, who lived in Lightley. Wisteria begged Hiroshi to help her rid of another evil from the village, which was a man on the inside of the village, controlling a demon race to rob the village and kill innocents for him.

With each other's help, they vanquished the threat, and the village was restored to peace. Wisteria told Hiroshi about the Great Encounter Battle Tournament in the Acebian capital, Lodestown, and the young man went. His objective was to become stronger, and not only that, find the eight Gods of the world.

If he could kill the eight Gods, there would be no corruption, ruling or hierarchy. Hiroshi loathes selfishness, and Kuro-Yami shared that ideal with him.

Upon getting to the Tournament, he met a familiar face in Wisteria, who had been holding the fact she could use ice magic this whole time. Poor people are not allowed to use magic, and managed to overcome that shame due to Hiroshi's encouragement.

Bibi was another woman at the Tournament, who made it to the semi-finals despite having no manna, just explosive power that she attaches to her hands and chest. She was beaten and almost killed by Tomokazu Onuki, son of the most powerful God, Zetsubo Onuki. Bibi would have been killed, if Hiroshi did not interfere.

Hiroshi and Tomokazu fought in the final. Hiroshi took victory, as he allowed his body to be completely overtaken by Kuro-Yami's power. However, unfortunately, Hiroshi could not beat any one of the Gods. All eight of them, four from Titania and four from Acebia, beat him to a pulp in front of the whole world.

Despite having the powers of happy emotions on the outside, like Joy and Hope, they harness darker power on the inside, and they are actually powers like Depression and Despair. It is revealed during this fight, during Zetsubo Onuki's Carte Blanche (A Carte Blanche is the upmost power a being can receive), that Hiroshi had one person in his life that cared about him.

However, she died in an accident, and everybody blamed Hiroshi on the tragedy, including himself.

After this, Tsuyoshi Kage takes in Hiroshi, Wisteria, Tomokazu and Bibi for training, to kill the Gods once and for all, and to bring peace to the world, and the two countries, Acebia and Titania.

The reasons for wanting to kill the Gods are as follows:

Hiroshi - To restore peace and eliminate selfishness in the world.

Wisteria - To destroy the hierarchy.

Bibi - To get revenge for her father being murdered by Zetsubo Onuki.

Tomokazu - To be the right hand man of the king/queen of the world.

After six months of hard training, Hiroshi snaps at Wisteria, as she then blamed his old friend's death on him, and flies off to kill three heroes of Lodestown by himself. It is found out they are all very corrupt, and even though he lost, the whole of Acebia cheered and respected him. Wisteria, Bibi and Tomokazu came later for back up, and killed two of the three 'heroes', one of which was Wisteria's old abusive ex-boyfriend.

The final hero, Touma Schulz, was defeated after a long Carte Blanche battle with Tsuyoshi Kage, proving him to be an excellent force in battle.

During the commotion, Wisteria and Hiroshi confessed their feelings for one another, as well as Bibi and Tomokazu.

After another six months of training, they come back to the second edition of the Great Encounter Battle Tournament, to show the world how much they have progressed.

However, a strange being emerges.

A figure with the exact appearance of Hiroshi!

And he was created by Anwir, the assistant to Zetsubo Onuki, and Bibi's father, who she thought was dead.

And this is a fact unknown to Bibi.
