Chapter 1:
Forgotten Leaf
Two years. Two years after Reyonka Shuji lost the love of his life. Two years after Reyonka Shuji, without knowing it, saw Kuwasaki Mojo for the last time ever. It was a fateful day in March, when the cherry blossoms were out in full bloom, showcasing their beautiful pink leaves, full of hope. They resembled her eyes, which brimmed with hope and happiness. She’d told Reyonka that she was the happiest she’d ever been because of him, but he didn’t believe that. Not one bit, actually. He believed that she was so happy because of her ability to see the best in every situation. Hell, she was the embodiment of the phrase,’Look on the bright side’. She didn’t just look on the bright side. She was the bright side. Everyone she met adored her, and it genuinely seemed as if she had no haters. No one to look down on her, no one to hold a grudge that would result in a knife being ran through her chest and piercing her heart on an otherwise uneventful Tuesday evening. Her body was found exactly 73 hours after her death, and it took so long because her body was hidden in a dark alleyway with only a trash can next to her. Her eyes were wide with horror, and it seemed like she had been crying moments before her death.
8:52 PM. That was the last time she had been online on her cellphone, not knowing that when she’d close it for the final time, she would miss her husband’s final message to her. The last time they would ever communicate. The last time the two polar opposite leaves would interact, ever.
The murderer has not been found yet. He was supposedly wearing a ski mask and gloves, which was to be expected since nobody in their right mind would perform a murder without gear to hide themselves from the outside world, albeit wearing suspicious attire. They wore a watch to check the time, and had a flip phone in hand. Why a flip phone and not a burner phone, the police and investigators have no idea. Probably to look less suspicious, perhaps, but that wouldn’t explain much.
Reyonka Shuji went to a tech company to see if she read his final message or not. To confirm if what he thought was lost really was lost, and not just a misunderstanding. The tech support guy Reyonka was paying $15 to check his wife’s phone to see if she potentially saw his message said that it would take a couple hours to see if the phone’s system was glitched even though it had no reason to be, but still, better to be safe than sorry, and told Reyonka to check back in a few hours.
“You can’t access me and my wife’s messages or anything like that, can you? I don’t want an invasion of privacy here”.
“Oh no sir, rest assured, we will not be invading anybody’s privacy here, don’t worry”.
“You sure?”.
“Yes 100% sir, I am sure that we won’t be checking anything personal to you”.
