Chapter 7:

FIRST KISS

Love woven into a doll

As the sun sets and the evening air grows cooler, Clara and April walk back towards Clara's apartment. They've been talking and laughing the entire way, their chemistry undeniable.

They reach the entrance to Clara's building, and April stops, turning to face her with a soft smile.

"I had a really great time tonight, Clara. We should do this again soon."

Clara smiles back, feeling a warmth in her chest that has nothing to do with the lingering warmth of the day.

"I'd like that. A lot. Maybe we could hang out at my place next time?"

April nods, her eyes sparkling with interest.

"Sounds perfect. Text me the details later?"

Clara nods, her heart racing slightly at the thought of having April over.

"Definitely. I'll text you."

April takes a step closer, her gaze lingering on Clara's face.

"Can I kiss you goodnight?"

Clara's breath catches in her throat, her eyes widening slightly. She nods again, a bit more hesitantly this time, she nods with a sheepish smile.

"Yes."

April gently cups Clara's face in her hands, leaning in to press a soft, tender kiss on her lips. It's brief but sweet, full of promise and potential.

Clara melts into the kiss, her eyes fluttering closed. When they part, she's blushing furiously again, but there's a new light in her eyes - excitement, anticipation, and a hint of something deeper.

"Goodnight, April."

April grins, brushing her thumb across Clara's cheek one last time before stepping back.

"Goodnight, Clara. Sweet dreams."

Clara sets her phone down, feeling content and happy. She snuggles into her blankets, thinking about April's kiss and the warmth it brought her.

While April eventually drifts off to sleep, dreaming of blue eyes and soft laughter. The voodoo doll sits quietly on her nightstand, watching over her peaceful rest.

The next morning, Clara wakes up feeling refreshed and energized. She stretches and yawns, reaching for her phone to check the time.

There's a message from April waiting for her, sent just an hour ago.

"Good morning, sunshine. I hope you slept well."

Clara smiles at the message, her heart fluttering again. She types back quickly.

"Morning! I slept amazingly. You're the reason I had sweet dreams."

April replies with a winking emoji.

"Oh really? Maybe I should come over more often then."

Clara laughs, feeling playful.

"Maybe you should. I wouldn't mind waking up to your messages every day."

April sends a picture of herself in bed, her hair messy and a grin on her face.

"Well, you're welcome to join me anytime. I make pretty good company in the morning."

Clara's cheeks heat up at the sight of April's picture. She bites her lip, considering the offer.

"You're too tempting, April. I might just take you up on that."

April responds with a cheeky tone.

"I'm counting on it. What are you doing today, beautiful?"

Clara thinks for a moment, trying to remember her schedule.

"I have a few errands to run, but I'm free after that. Would you want to grab lunch or something?"

April replies eagerly.

"Lunch sounds perfect. How about that little café downtown? The one with the cute outdoor seating."

Clara nods, even though April can't see her.

"Perfect. Meet you there at noon?"

April sends a heart and a winky face.

"Deal. See you soon, Clara."

Clara sets her phone down again, feeling giddy with excitement. She starts getting ready, taking extra care with her appearance.

Time passes quickly as Clara runs her errands, and soon enough, it's almost noon. She heads to the café, looking effortlessly beautiful in a flowy sundress.

April is already there, sitting at a table in the shade. She's wearing a crop top and jeans, her hair tied up in a messy bun. She spots Clara and waves, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her.

Clara waves back and walks over, her heart skipping a beat at how gorgeous April looks.

"Hey there, you."

April stands up and pulls out a chair for Clara.

"Hey yourself. You look absolutely stunning."

Clara blushes and sits down, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Thank you. You're not so bad yourself."

April grins and sits across from her, resting her chin on her hand.

"I'm glad you think so. I wore this just for you."

Clara laughs softly, feeling a warmth spread through her chest.

"Well, it worked. You look amazing in it."

The waiter comes by to take their orders, and April orders a salad and iced tea. She then looks at Clara expectantly.

"What about you, beautiful?"

Clara orders a sandwich and lemonade, her eyes never leaving April's.

"So, tell me about your day so far. Anything interesting happen?"

April leans back in her chair, a playful smirk on her lips.

"Not really. Just the usual boring stuff. Woke up, went for a run, and then waited impatiently for our date."

Clara chuckles, reaching across the table to hold April's hand.

"I'm sorry for making you wait. I'm here now though."

April intertwines their fingers, her thumb rubbing gentle circles on Clara's skin.

"You're worth the wait. Every second."

Clara's heart flutters at the sweet words, and she squeezes April's hand gently.

"You're too sweet to me, April."

April leans forward, her voice dropping to a whisper.

"Only because you deserve it, Clara. You're special to me."

Clara feels a lump form in her throat, overwhelmed by the sincerity in April's voice. She swallows hard and smiles.

"You're special to me too. More than you know."

April's expression softens, her eyes full of affection.

"Then maybe I should show you just how much I care."

Clara raises an eyebrow, curious.

"Oh? And how do you plan to do that?"

April grins mischievously, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Well, I have a few ideas in mind. But first, let's enjoy our lunch. Then we'll see."

Their food arrives, and they start eating, stealing glances at each other and stealing bites from each other's plates.

After they finish eating, April pays the bill despite Clara's protests.

"Come on, let's go for a walk. There's a beautiful trail in the woods nearby."

Clara nods, standing up and taking April's hand again.

"Lead the way, my fearless guide."

April leads Clara through the town, past the quaint shops and houses, and into the dense forest. The air is cooler here, filled with the scent of pine and earth.

The trees form a canopy above them, filtering the sunlight into dappled patterns on the ground. Birds chirp and squirrels scurry around as they walk deeper into the woods.

April suddenly stops and turns to face Clara, a playful glint in her eyes.

"Close your eyes."

Clara looks at her skeptically but obeys, closing her eyes and waiting for April's next move.

April gently guides Clara forward, her hands on Clara's shoulders. They walk for a few more minutes until April stops again.

"Okay, open them."

Clara opens her eyes to see a breathtaking view of a crystal-clear lake surrounded by rocks and wildflowers. The water sparkles in the sunlight, and the air is filled with the sound of the lake lapping against the shore.

Clara gasps in awe, her mouth slightly agape.

"Wow, April... this is beautiful. How did you find this place?"

April smiles proudly, watching Clara's reaction.

"I come here a lot to clear my head. I thought you'd like it too."

Clara turns to April, her eyes shining with gratitude.

"I love it. Thank you for sharing this with me."

April steps closer, wrapping her arms around Clara's waist from behind. She rests her chin on Clara's shoulder, holding her close.

"You're welcome. I want to show you all my favorite spots in Willow Creek."

Clara leans back into April's embrace, feeling safe and cherished.

"I'd love that. I want to know everything about you, April."

Clara giggles, tilting her head to give April better access.

"I have all the time in the world for you."

April's hands wander up to Clara's sides, her touch light and teasing.

"Good. Because I plan on keeping you around for a long time."

Clara turns around in April's arms, facing her with a playful smirk.

"Is that a promise or a threat?"

April grins, her eyes darkening with desire as she pulls Clara closer.

"Both. I'm not letting you go that easily, Clara."

Clara's breath hitches as she feels April's body pressed against hers. She bites her lip, looking up at April with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"I don't want you to let me go."

April cups Clara's face in her hands, her thumbs stroking her cheeks gently.

"Then you're mine. And I'm yours."

Clara's heart races at April's words, her own hands gripping April's waist tightly.

"Yours... I like the sound of that."

Clara melts into the kiss, her body molding against April's as she deepens it. The kiss becomes more urgent, more desperate, as if they're trying to convey all their feelings in that one moment.

April breaks the kiss, panting slightly. She rests her forehead against Clara's, her hands sliding down to grip her hips.

"Let's go back to my place."
