Chapter 18:

A forgotten promise and a brief pink intermission

Laurels Journey

“Could you look after my girl.”

“A trifling task for someone of my power!”

“Hoh hoho? You might be the most powerful human to have ever lived then?” Althea piled on the fake praise and Everlyne gingerly ate it up.

“You have my word I’ll do my best to look out for, Teac—Tulle!” Everlyne beamed.

“It’s a shame that you human’s die so soon, I would have loved to meet with this incarnation of you again…”

“I won’t die.” She was not joking these were her earnest feelings.

“Ah, so that’s the kind of human you are.”

“Oh! What kind am I?”

“The type that’s convinced they are never going to die.”

“A word of advice young one.” She continued.

“Nothing is certain in this world. Nothing is free. Nothing is perfect. One moment, you are with those you love, the next you are alone. Make sure to—”

Before Althea could end her sentence time caught up to them.

Everlyne gave Althaea what might have been the brightest smile she had ever seen over the past millions of years.

“I won’t die. So, look forward to the next time we see each other!”

Those were the words Everlyne would have said in response but unfortunately, they were never spoken and thus never be heard.

The last person to make me think of those words was him.

PINK INTERMMISION TIME:

“And that’s the story of how I got my wand and broom, Fluffy Pink Hair!”

“Is that so…” Fleta nodded at Everlyne’s account of how she spent her semester break.

At the start of the second semester Everlyne could suddenly use magic and operate a broom, Fleta was beyond overjoyed for her friend.

The story detailed how she for the most part singlehandedly took on the Elf queen a figure known to be one of the most powerful beings on the flat earth and won? Her story also included that their fish eyed lazy teacher was a princess?

“Teach really is a princess!”

“Really?” Fleta replied.

“I think Teach’s mom was going easy on us the whole time. If she really wanted to, she could have made me go splat! Anytime.”

Fleta felt very skeptical of the whole story and how much of a reliable narrator Everlyne was of these events.

But she also knew Everlyne was not the type to lie. The hardest part to believe was that—

“You really figured out how to cast a territory? You cannot expect me to believe that do you?”

“I can teach you the formula?”

All the doubt Fleta had was gone in an instant, “I believe you entirely. Mold me for I am but clay in your hands.”

“I will teach you everything I know grasshopper.”

“Every time you use a territory you have to say Fluffy fluffy pink splash!” Everlyne ordered.

It wasn't really a requirement she just thought it would be cute for Fleta to say that.

It took Fleta Walmsly only a mere moment of seeing the spell to grasp it, the simplicity of the spell was so frustrating. How had humanity never figured it out until now?

when Everlyne taught it to her, it seemed like the simplest most beautiful equation.

“By the way how does the spell power itself? It seems to work outside the laws of energy conservation?”

“Magic.” Everlyne shrugged.

“Makes sense.” Fleta nodded.
