Chapter 29: I'm Not Done Yet!

Katsume nodded in understanding, her eyes reflecting a mix of admiration and warmth.

"I pat her head gently," I remarked, my touch tender as I conveyed my approval. It felt nice to share a calm moment together.

Katsume turned to me, her voice calm yet filled with genuine appreciation. "You really are the best, you know that?" She smiled brightly, clearly reveling in the warmth of our connection and the playful intimacy of the moment.

Suddenly, a figure clad in an exquisitely designed dress approached us, cutting through our shared tranquility with a commanding presence. "Explain it well," she instructed, her tone serious, before redirecting her gaze to Katsume. "But Katsume, come with me."

Katsume’s expression shifted to one of annoyance. “You've ruined our moment!” she exclaimed, shaking her head in denial as frustration bubbled from her.

The figure, known as Ingakankeinosōi, maintained her calm demeanor as she reiterated, “Don’t take it personally; it’s just the boss’s orders.”

With persistence, Katsume replied, “No way! You’ll have to get through my big brother first!” She instinctively hid behind me, her protective instincts kicking in.

Ingakankeinosōi, undeterred, simply responded, “Very well then,” before suddenly launching a punch aimed straight at my face with lightning speed.

I merely shrugged, responding with a casual confidence, “Is that all?” and deftly caught her fist mid-strike, almost as if her attack was a mere afterthought.

Ingakankeinosōi’s eyes widened in surprise as realization dawned upon her. “You really are exceptional. It’s just as the boss predicted— that manipulative bastard knew this would unfold from the start,” she said with a mix of respect and frustration.

I leaned back slightly, still nonchalant. “Are you done talking now?” I asked, my voice dripping with casual indifference as I delivered a swift punch, knocking her down to the ground.

Ingakankeinosōi shot me a fierce glare, her eyes blazing with determination.

Unfazed, she retaliated with even greater intensity, throwing a punch that surpassed her previous attempts, the sheer force behind her blows shattering nearby walls and sending shockwaves through the surroundings. Before I knew it, an uppercut propelled me into a different reality altogether, leaving me momentarily stunned. And just like that, the world around me shattered—leaving only her warmth in my memory as I faced the storm alone.

As I floated in the void of a distant planet, I thought reflectively, “Is it just me, or are her strikes growing stronger with each exchange? Even missing me seems to enhance her power.”

Above me, Ingakankeinosōi flew, her grin widening. “Good! You’re catching on!” she shouted, her voice echoing in the vast emptiness surrounding us.

My eyes widened with sudden clarity. “Oh, I see now! You possess power enhancement, don’t you? With strength that can grow infinitely like that, there truly isn’t a ceiling to your capabilities!” I declared, feeling a rush of adrenaline surge through me as I soared upward, now above her.

Power enhancement is the ability to endlessly grow stronger with each blow that the user strikes, without limitation. This obviously includes missing as well.

Ingakankeinosōi’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Wow, you really catch on quickly! Just as I expected. I can see why Zenchis lost to you in a contest of knowledge; your thought patterns are far too unpredictable. She couldn’t figure out what made your thinking so erratic, which ultimately led to her defeat, making you an even more formidable opponent.”

Surprised, I asked, “Wait, you knew about Zenchi?”

“Of course!” she replied casually, a hint of mischief in her voice. “But let’s just say we’re friends.”

“I see,” I said, a contemplative expression crossing my face. “Then I might need to have a chat with her about that after this fight.”

Without further ado, Ingakankeinosōi was suddenly right before my face, a blur of movement, unleashing a relentless barrage of punches that illustrated her incredible agility and strength. Her power had soared to new heights, defying the very fabric of logic and concepts alike. The reality around us trembled beneath the weight of her presence, and the very essence of existence seemed to fray at the edges, breaking apart under her might, tearing into another realm altogether.

“Enough of this,” I said resolutely, my demeanor shifting as I braced myself. “It’s time I utilize annihilation.” Even as her unyielding punches continued to rain down upon me, I managed to lift my hand toward the heavens, fueled by sheer willpower—not in a display of triumph, but in a moment of judgment.

The cosmos above did not shatter with noise or fury. Instead, it imploded in silence, as if the universe itself were collapsing under the weight of an unacknowledged truth. Black energy spiraled inward—not expanding, but delving deeper into the very fabric of reality. It didn't grow; it unfolded—an ancient idea unraveling into existence, a certainty that had lingered just beyond the edges of comprehension. There were no edges to this concept; no form, merely a presence—vast, formless, eternal—that gnawed at the essence of existence.

It was not merely energy, nor magic, nor even death; it was annihilation—the very idea given life.

Ingakankeinosōi’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief. “What is this supposed to be?” she questioned, instinctively jumping back as her instincts screamed for her to retreat.

I responded with a nonchalant tone, “It’s pure annihilation—your inevitable end.” With that, I brought my hand down toward the world.

When my hand connected with the ground, there was no explosion, no grandiose shebang. Instead, everything ceased to exist. The land, the air, the sky—all of it was utterly, irrevocably annihilated. Silence engulfed us; there was no heat, no shockwave—only an expansive absence that swallowed everything, creeping infinitely like a void.

The magnitude of this event, if one could even call it that, transcended mere vastness. It became infinite, reaching into corners of existence that had never known boundaries, consuming time itself, dismantling the very rules of reality. It was a grievous wound torn into the fabric of everything known.

With newfound respect in her expression, Ingakankeinosōi widened her eyes. “Not bad, but too bad for you! My strength has surpassed all logic and concept; I literally can’t be erased.”

In response, I met her gaze with unsettling calmness and whispered, “Let’s see how you handle ultimate oblivion.”

With an unsettling calmness that belied the tension of the moment, I replied, “This is the trump card I summon only when existence itself becomes unbearable... Ultimate Oblivion.” The name hung in the air like a malignant whisper, resonating with a menacing significance that sent a chill down my spine. “This is the ultimate attack of annihilation. It transcends not only mere power, magic, and destruction but even the very concept of annihilation itself. It embodies the silence that envelops the conclusion of all tales, the complete negation of erasure, the final act of extinguishing meaning itself. This… is Ultimate Oblivion—an unfathomable attack that surpasses every conceivable boundary of existence.”

My opponent, ingakankeinosōi, looked at me with a mix of curiosity and challenge. “Try it then,” she said nonchalantly, as if daring me to unleash the devastating force I had just described.

Her provocation was unnecessary; I was already prepared. I summoned the energy within me and directed it downwards, unleashing the Ultimate Oblivion with a fierce determination. As the attack made contact, time itself seemed to come to a screeching halt. There was no cataclysmic explosion, no shockwave rippling through the atmosphere, and not even the serene silence that often follows annihilation. Instead, what unfolded was a profound and troubling absence. Reality did not fracture or explode into chaos; it simply ceased to exist.

In that moment, an incomprehensible force, one that transcended all infinite concepts and scales, unfurled itself in a manner that defied understanding. It annihilated not only the physical dimensions of space but also the fundamental constructs of time, matter, and consciousness—erasing the very essence of their being. Every layer of reality collapsed into a non-state, a void where existence lost all meaning, and the laws governing our universe were revoked in an instant, akin to the flick of a switch controlled by a divine hand.

With a casual smile and an aloof demeanor, ingakankeinosōi remarked, “You really are something, but didn’t I already tell you that my strength surpasses all logic and all concepts? I can’t be killed.” In that moment, she launched an attack with her foot, stomping down upon me with such force that I felt the sensation of my bones cracking beneath her relentless assault. The pain was blinding, and in that agonizing instant, she tore apart the fabric of an alternate reality with her crushing leg.

Lying there on the ground, bloodied and gasping for breath, consciousness began to slip away from me like sand through fingers, and in that nebulous space between awareness and oblivion, fragmented memories rushed through my mind in chaotic succession.

Suddenly, I heard the voice of a celestial being echoing in the void, but the features of this divine figure were too obscured for me to recognize. As the memories continued to flash through my mind, a persistent voice emerged within, resonating with clarity amid the chaos: “Her strength transcends logic and concepts… then yours must transcend the impossible. Now rise. You’re not allowed to fall here.”! I didn’t say you could lose here.

As the scene around me faded into a blinding white, I caught a glimpse of Katsume standing beside me—her expression filled with fear.

“Get up, big bro! I’ll never forgive you if you lose here and let her take me away from you.” Her voice trembled. “I’m scared... I don’t want to go...” Tears streamed down her cheeks—raw, helpless, human. A manifestation of her deepest fear.

And then, just as suddenly, everything turned to black. I found myself standing before the forms of both Katsume... and Kurokami.

In a moment of shared urgency, their voices rang out together— “Get up, Kiro!”

The world shifted. A radiant light broke through the void, wrapping around me like a warm embrace—a touch not of power, but of purpose.

And then, inside my mind, it hit me. I’d been so caught in the chaos of their battles, their pain, their fear... I forgot myself. I don’t fight to win. I fight to protect Katsume. To stand beside Kurokami. I fight to defend my friends.

As clarity returned, the world around me began to solidify once more. With a gleam of wicked delight,

Ingakankeinosōi grinned, eyes gleaming like a predator savoring the kill. “Any last words?” she taunted, voice dripping with cruel anticipation.

I summoned the last shards of my strength, my breath ragged and voice barely more than a rasp. “Yeah... just... one... thing... I’m... not... done... yet!” Pain seared through my broken bones, but sheer willpower pushed me upright. This fight wasn’t over. Neither was I.

To be continued...
