Chapter 0:

The beginning and the end

Crimson Vow

Corpses! Lots of fallen corpses.      The ground was filled with crimson liquids, and the air was tainted with red mist from the intensity of the blood that had been spilled. Twisted intestines spread out from the bodies of the dead and there was no shortage of that sticky white stuff, especially in front of those whose heads had been blurred into nothing.            A foul smell permeated the place, and mixed with the black smoke that was rising from those black holes. Half of the bodies were charred, and some of them had turned to ash.            Swords, spears, and various weapons were stuck or broken on the ground of the battlefield that had ended minutes ago.            250 thousand mages of both ranks D and C, 1,000 B-rank monsters and another 10 A-rank ones, such a force could sweep away anywhere it went and leave behind nothing but blood, plus the presence of 12 S-rank elites was more than enough to guarantee victory.

However, no one survived!

The enemy did not consist of larger forces or superior numbers, nor were they monsters of a higher rank or a squad of murderous assassins. It was one human!      Only one person annihilated the entire army, and S-rank mages weren’t an exception.

The figure whose breathing could be clearly heard remained on the pile of monsters whose organs had been lost or burned.

His features could not be distinguished well, the dark robe with the hood covered half of his face, yet those two deep holes looked like black holes, capable of suppressing any creature with their abyss-like darkness.

He sat in a relaxed manner, placing his arm over his right knee and took his time staring at the carnage he had caused, the killing intent and pressure he released causing the air itself to choke.

“Is this it?” His male voice finally came out.

“Isn’t this what I always wanted, why am I not happy?” The tone remained normal, but the emptiness inside it could be discerned: “Why aren’t I sad? Why don’t I feel anything?!”

“Hahahh.. Hh.. It seems that Venor was right..!”

      “Slatch...!!”
