Chapter 8:

The White Spear

Crimson Vow

Alexander walked next to Elyan and extended his hand, he was able to pass unlike Elyan. He nodded to clarify: “In view of being home to many dangerous existences, a special barrier has been placed around the forest, to prevent any monster from escaping.”      “In normal condition, the three of you will not be able to enter due to some restrictions. This barrier was created by ‘Doctor Might’, one of the smartest inventors in the world, and he designed it so that foreigners cannot enter as well. However, these restrictions apply to those of the C rank or lower, but not all. Fortunately I'm in the A rank, and since you are with me, you are able to pass normally.”      “What are A and C ranks?” Elyan was curious.      “One of the ranks of power, don’t worry, I will explain these details later.” Alexander ignored the answer, explaining that it was not time to know yet.      “Let’s go in now.” By physical contact with Alexander, the others could progress and bypass the entrance without resistance.       After walking a few meters their feet were stuck in the fallen leaves. From time to time they heard the sounds of birds chirping and branches moving.      Besides the trees, there were many strange plants, no matter how hard they tried to conjure images within the books they read, they couldn’t remember seeing any of them before. Some were funny and others were scary.      On Julie’s side, she saw a rather large mushroom growing inside a field of flowers. As if sensing her vision, the mushroom was opening its cap and inside them a pair of eyes opened.      “Yaaa!” She screamed.      She was able to alert everyone.      She turned her head and pointed in the direction where the strange mushroom was: “Look, there...that mushroom has eyes now.”      Elyan and Gray immediately turned their gazes, scanning the place and yet there were no mushrooms, let alone a mushroom with two eyes.      “Julie, there’s nothing.” Gray denounced as he said.      Elyan shook his head as well, emphasizing that.      Julie also stared again, and it was as they said, there was no mushroom, it had disappeared!      “It was really here, I’m not lying.” Julie could only say with a heavy expression.      At this time, Alexander shouted: “What you saw may or may not be real. Simply put, you should not believe everything you see inside this forest.”      “There are many creatures that cause hallucinations and have strange effects, and it is best to avoid staring at them for a long time.”      “If you’re not careful, you might go crazy without realizing it.” Alexander warned eerily.      Julie was trembling, as were Elyan and Gray. Not a single one of them mocked what this old master had said.      “Let’s keep walking.”      After penetrating for who knows how long, at some point, Alexander suddenly stopped.      The three of them did not understand the reason for this abnormal act, they had no choice but to stop as well.      “Haha, Elyan, and the rest too, watch what is going to happen now well.” At this time, Alexander laughed. As if a suspense show was about to begin.      Elyan didn’t understand Alexander’s words.      He narrowed his eyes and focused with a ready stance.      Around, between the trees a huge shadow appeared. He jumped from one branch to another quickly, leaving many powerful sounds behind.      “Baa!” He jumped and bounced towards the ground. The sound of the collision was violent. A gust of wind blew and leaves and mud were scattered everywhere.      From the thick dust emerged a huge figure, highlighting the monster that blocked the path.

It was a big gorilla, compared to the ones in ‘Peace’ City’s gardens and small forests, this one in front of them was three times more bigger, It was covered with a blue dense fur with a strange sharp back resembling a camel’s hump, and limbs harder than stones.

Under its forehead, a large blue gem capable of reflecting the sunlight that passed through the trees could be discerned.

“Rooorrr!!” Towards the little creatures who appeared before it, the tyrannical beast bared its teeth and roared powerfully, with a bloodthirsty gleam.

Its intention was clear, to annihilate the invaders who had so boldly assaulted its territory.

“W.. w.. what’s going on here? Uncle Alexander, what is this thing..?” In front of this terrifying creature, Julie was filled with panic, a cold sweat formed on her back, and she was trembling with intense fear for the first time in her life.

Her heartbeat increased and she took a few steps back, before stumbling and falling. She crawled on her butt, but her legs failed her.

Gray was even more terrified. He turned around irritably and ran as fast as he could toward the exit. Faced with this life and death situation, he lost all his courage and immediately followed his instinct.

Seeing his two friends losing themselves, it’s not as if Elyan didn’t have any thoughts of escaping as well, yet he remembered Alexander’s words at that moment. He wanted to trust him.

He immediately shouted to his two friends to wake up: “Stop!”

“Don’t worry, Uncle Alexander is here.”

With Elyan’s warning, the hearts of the two calmed down a little, they stopped at a distance and watched from afar.

At this time, Alexander looked at Elyan, who did not move, and deepened his voice: “Lesson One: Don’t trust anything except your own strength.”

“Your friends have been wiser than you. Especially in similar situations, your naivety can sometimes lead to a quick end.” Alexander was able to be reasonable as he said in a serious voice.

“However..”

“Thank you for trusting me.” Alexander smiled before turning to face the monster.

His eyes narrowed and his expression changed: “Now, sit there and wait for the show to end”.

One step at a time, Alexander wore his cocky smile when he progressed moderately, as if it was not a monster in front of him, but rather a small monkey that he wanted to play with.

Sparks of light started to gather from everywhere in the surroundings, accelerating and piling up on Alexander's palm as if it was being pulled by an invisible force.

“Rooor!” With the arrogance of this tiny creature that was not afraid of it, the monster roared again, forming a pressure that stirred the surrounding plants, and it started slamming its fists on its chest. It was able to sense some danger coming from this human in front of him.

“Roar.” With an unprecedented jump, the gorilla monster charged and attacked. It was fast. In its place he left a heavy footprint.

He arrived in front of Alexander in an instant, then moved his elbow that was ready and sent a vertical punch.

“Boom!”

Under its firm fist, the ground cracked and mud and grass flew everywhere. Dust rose and a pressure of wind was generated.

Elyan backed away, afraid of being trampled by the attack waves.

After the place became clear again, a hole had formed in Alexander’s place. As for Alexander himself, he could not be seen. He might have already become a paste of flesh and blood under the giant ape’s palm.

Elyan’s body trembled, because at this time the gorilla directedre and wait for its hostile gaze towards him and his two companions. It changed its target after getting rid of the previous enemy.

“Aren’t you underestimating me too much?” The voice was none other than Alexander. He was smiling as he stood right behind the gorilla’s back.

The flakes of light were continuing to condense. Under Alexander’s fist, it shone white and in his own style began to form and harden, changing from an inhomogeneous sphere to a rectangular shape and then continuing to differentiate.

At the end was a sharp spear figure, which was shining and of incomparable radiance.

Feeling the killing intent that the spear was giving off, the beast’s scalp went numb, it became shrunken and tense.

At this moment, none of his pride as the king of beasts remained, only its instinct for survival. its only idea was to escape.

But how could Alexander allow it to do that?

“Fooosh.” Under his control, he took a step forward, pulled his arm back, squeezed hard, and released!

The speed of the spear was incredible, crossing all distances and obstacles.

“Ping.” His sharp head pierced through the monster’s back like soft tofu, bypassing its stomach and formed a large hole of blood.

The spear did not stop and continued advancing towards the forest, able to sweep away everything that fell in its path.

An enormous echo rang out in all directions, the nearby monsters had quickly fled. How were they able to fend off the white spear?

Seconds later, the sounds finally subsided, the spear stopped, and the light it formed dispersed through the air.

With blank stares, the first thing Elyan and the others did was check the distance the spear had traveled. They looked in the other direction and for about two thousand meters, everything had disappeared.

It was an incredible destructive force.

Julie and Gray looked at the monster that had lost its life and then at Alexander, repeatedly.

‘This can’t be real, can it?’ She whispered to herself, pressing her hands to her mouth to stifle her fascination.

Gray was pale and his eyes were big. He still could hardly accept the existence of a monster like a giant gorilla even if it was something that was impossible from before. However, Alexander's strength was simply something too fantastical. Something you will only find in novels and legends, not the world he lived in.

Elyan unconsciously swallowed his saliva, feeling fear, shock, as well as admiration. Today’s reality has exceeded all expectations.

“Heh, so how did you find out?” Sensing Elyan’s gaze, Alexander laughed. He was walking toward the monster’s corpse all of a sudden.

“Did I do great?” On top of the pierced corpse that had fallen on its back, Alexander reached in front of the head, pulled out a dagger and, with movements that could not be traced by the eye, cut off the jewel that was shining with a beautiful luster and pulled it out. It was the size of a human head.

After cleaning it of the adhering blood, he moved his hand lightly and the gem simply disappeared. Who knows where he stored it.

The rest of them didn’t ask the reason for his actions, they couldn’t shake their astonishment yet.
