Chapter 2:
Irregular Hero: Spirit Tamer Doesn't Want to Lose (異常勇者シリーズ: 精霊テイマーは失いたくない)
I maxed out my Hunger Meter and Thirst Meter.
I can say for sure that this is not the world where I belong. I need to find the answer and get back to where I feel I am supposed to be. In order to do that, I think I have to follow the system here.
Those bats went away once they knew they couldn't enter the safe zone.
Still, level 1… that means those bats are the weakest monsters around here? That thing almost killed me… I guess I was lucky enough to even be alive…
Fighting the weakest monster will be the safest choice, but it’ll be bad if they come in swarms again.
Also, what sort of other monsters exist in cave environments?
“... argh! I can’t remember anything!”
Still, a bare hand fight will be too dangerous.
“I need a weapon.”
Making a weapon out of wood... no, an amateur making one will probably break in the middle of fighting the monsters.
Since wood is no good, I grabbed all those stones near the edge and made use of them.
*cluck* *cluck *cluck* *cluck*
"... Damn it, how many hours has it been!?" I complained as I kept clucking a stone to another to make a knife out of it. It feels like it's been half a day!
... And so, another half a day passed, and it became a whole day of work.
Have you ever heard of a game that makes you manually craft a weapon for a whole day!? No, I refuse you did! Only primitives do this!
[Item: Stone Knife] acquired
I finished making a stone knife. It’s crude, but it is good enough after testing it on a tree. The only problem with it is its short range.
It’s a given that I have no record of fighting wild animals, let alone monsters by myself, fighting monsters at close range is dangerous. Sword and spear might sound better, but they are not for amateurs, let alone in a cave environment.
But anyway!
"Now's the time to sleep… ah, I almost forgot! Level up!"
I focused on my EXP Gauge and it showed me the same notification as before, so I pressed YES.
[Level: 1>2]
Oh, I've leveled up!
"... urgh! What the..."
...
A scene of crowd and bright colors... a night with a parade of some type of mascot characters… though I’m not sure what that means.
"Yuuma... look, it's Nikkey. Say hi~" said the man below me while rocking me.
"Look, he waved at you, Yuuma-chan~!" said the woman standing beside him.
It took me off guard. They gave me a warm feeling. I felt happy seeing them.
... And other blurry memories of me with those two...
All of those flashed into me in an instant.
…
I see... so I regain my memory every level up, huh. Guess those were my memories up until I was 2 years old. That’s why I don’t automatically level up, huh?
I look at my reflection on the river. Judging by my appearance, I think I will have all of my memories if I get to level 20. By doing so, I’m sure I will find out what I am meant to do!
Still, regaining my memories when fighting monsters is a bit risky since they just automatically flash into my mind. I should be careful when I choose to level up or it may give the monsters a chance to kill me.
I looked at my EXP Gauge, it still got a bit to it.
“So even if the EXP Gauge hit max, I will still have the excess experience points I got from defeating monsters, huh?”
I swung my left hand and checked my status, all besides agility was doubled. That's what happens when a low level player level up I guess.
Dang, I’m still tired from making that weapon.
“Alright, back to sleep!”
