Chapter 55:
Disciple to The Demon King
Born into a lineage of prestigious family, I chose this path of my own volition, not just as a fate.
To leave nothing of your name to the world as a result. I felt that the spirit of humility was not to seek fame or honor, but a manifestation of a pure desire to protect something more than anyone else.
And, above all, I thought that it was very cool. Shadow warriors were the existence to fight as underhanded and with no mercy to destroy the demon army. Covert art. Assassination. In addition, the general knowledge necessary for infiltration, and specialized fields to instill chaos in the enemies.
Yes, I understood from an early age that she exceled at everything. In other words, it was her path to become an existence capable of anything.
Therefore, I invested myself in the training from an early age to go all the way. Being able to skip grades and graduate as the youngest in history, Vin definitely capable of everything. However, the path that was far from what was idealized.
The world is at peace. That’s wonderful. Ironically, however, the duty assigned to shadow warriors were mere Logistic Support. Those of the shadows in a land of swordsman had little influence.
Although Vin was born after the war and had not experienced war, she was able to accept this reality, but dear elder brothers, who knew the war, felt unsatisfied with the present situation. The more peaceful it was, the more discontent my brothers and companions were.
However, the employment rate of the kingdom Insei is currently strict, and even if they wish to change jobs, they are competing for seats. There were many who used whatever means to win their seats. Admittedly the age of the warriors of the shadow is over.
A dozen warriors, including Vin, who agreed with my brother’s complaints and wishes to leave. To go out into the world. Instead of changing jobs, Retire, then seek re-employment as become free hunters, and go across the world.
In search of something that can fully use the power of fighting among the shadows. Vin went out to the world. Currently facing a boy from the Imperial city on mountain side.
Terran standing on the blown away field, saying, “Ah, I’m not going to let you go, Vin!”
Vin alarmed said, “Ah, not good, this range.”
I asked, “Where are you going?”
In that instant, I stepped in fast and was in front of Vin. Unlike shadow warriors, who train to hide human emotions and always keep calm in battle. This boy bares his fighting spirit and emotions. Surrounded by beautiful, lively green light, Terran hunts down the girl that frustrated him so much.
Fast! This wild, yet speedy, relentless fist strike far exceeds all reaction time. Vin called out, “Insei Fluid Art Circular Block"
I asked her, “Hmm, can you handle my flicker?”
At this distance Vin stood no chance at beating Terran. The girl was gifted and remained undefeated against opponents of her age from her land. However, Vin had no way of knowing that Terran could use such a powerful technique to blow away even the fog.
I shouted and brought my fist to attack with a roar. “Oraaaaa!! Quickly, get beat!”
When Vin and Terran played Go in town, Terran was stronger than anyone in she every played before. Using plays took to far-reaching heights that existed in a different dimension and left a yearning in Vin.
However, his impression in a real battle is completely different from what Terran showed while playing Go. Strong, soulful, and fiery. Vin wanted to play with him more. Even desire to become a disciple.
Vin was confused why he can play such a game of Go so differently from this battle style, but felt confident this is the real him.
Unable to keep the distance. Forcefully Vin was trying to back-step, while Terran's high speed flies to quickly. Vin panicked, ‘Ugh! uh!—urgh! It’s, too fast…Ah!”
Vin tried to keep parry the fist that moves like a whip with both hands, but gradually the arms used to defend became numb.
“Got you.”
One left hand overwhelmed broke the block, and after Vin unable to defend or evade, Terran threw his right fist straight into her face. Vin was prepared smash into her face, but the shock that should have come did not. Terran stopped his fist stopped right before my eyes.
I tell Vin, “My win! Right!”
And at the same time the green light that was covering his body subsides.
Vin said, “What do you mean?”
I replied, “Oh, I think it’s enough for a battle now!”
Vin was prepared to lose her face but realized something. “You are strong, but you’ve never hit a woman.”
The battlefield is next to death. Death in battle is a warrior's pride.
Vin “Assuredly, you’re a very well-bred boy but for a woman who’s determined and resolved, it’s not kindness! It’s insulting.”
I replied, “This is the outcome, just admit your loss, and beat it!”
He seized me by the wrist, as I took a chance to thrust a Kunai into his throat. After all, at this distance.
Stopping the attack with 2 fingers, I say, "You get it? If I can see it, it’s mine! I won’t miss your line of sight, breathing, and muscle movements. No matter what you do, I’ll stop it and hit the counter before you can do anything!”
Vin tried to talk, “I —”
I said again, “Come on, accept your defeat!”
Vin replied, “But you didn’t actually hit me. No, you never hit me?”
I was dumbfounded but quickly got angry.
I told her, “Shut up! Well, if you want me to hit you, you should come at me with an uglier face! Yours is hard to hit!”
Vin, “A man doesn’t live on the basis of a woman’s evaluation. This is my way, I’ve only just met you, let alone as an enemy who won’t listen to other people’s arguments yet finds faults, get lost already!”
Vin twist her wrist, and I let her go on reflex. Vin created a little distance, and a chance of attack still stands.
Vin tried to distract you, “Wh-What do you mean come at you with an uglier face. How rude! Women and men, it’s what’s on the inside, isn’t it?”
I replied, “What’s inside. So, even you declare that it’s the state of what’s inside that’s important! At least the friend I just met is a scary faced Ogre and yet. What’s inside? It is kinder person than anybody else.”
It seems he’s shouting not just in anger, in some respects it’s as if to appeal to reason.
“And the master I met… the worst, most cursed, infamous being in history …. but what’s inside… he hates to lose, he’s a little childish, but he’s my guide and he’s the one who acknowledges me more than anyone else!”
Now, Vin sends out her strongest ninjutsu. "Water Art! Wind Art! Composite Ninjutsu"
I yelled out into the world, full of frustration. “Someone who can only see Aka as just an evil ogre, shouldn’t talk about what’s inside of a person!!”
This I activated my breakthrough, which made the entire body glow with a green light, and the spiral magic at compact size appears in the right arm.
The spiral strikes head-on toward the strongest ninjutsu and makes a hole. I shout "Earth Impact!!"
Vin felt a strong, hot, intense impulse. The shock wave from the spiral shattered magic and blew her away.
Fallen, I lie on my back on the ground, so there isn’t much trauma. Stunned, she said “Ah, shu, I admit… my defeat.”
But it’s much more refreshing than I felt a while ago, and above all. Vin realized that I did not hit her because of her face was good. Then something she said got Terran to change his mind and strike her as if she was an ugly woman.
Vin's heart couldn’t stop racing. She decided that she should listen to him better. In the first place, Vin asked, “Hey. Before all that. Tell me what your name is?”
Even though we’ve clashed like this, Vin still don’t know my name.
