Chapter 27:

The idol

Streamer Royale

In the depths of some underground base, a hooded figure descended a staircase. "What an inconvenience. I shouldn't have to work with all those imbeciles," the figure thought.

As he reached the bottom of the staircase, he was met with a dead end. Of course, this was not truly a dead end. Pressing a secret release trigger, the wall opened to reveal a long hall, which eventually led to... another long flight of stairs.

The figure didn't mind the tediousness, as he was the one that built this in the first place. To him, the tediousness of navigating this maze was worth it to protect what it housed within.

He eventually did reach the bottom, and after confirming everything had closed behind him, he unlocked the final hidden door to enter a high-tech lab. It looked like the inside of an alien spaceship, mainly because it actually was made from the remnants of one.

Within it's center stood a capsule, and within said capsule, a girl. A girl with blue hair that had since grown long from the short bob it had once been when she was first imprisoned. Her name was Nami. She had once been an idol, but after getting kidnapped, she had been imprisoned like this ever since.

It all happened when she decided to stream a creepy game on Halloween night nearly 2 years ago. Two alien government agents, on orders from their superior, kidnapped Nami and erased all traces of her from the internet in an attempt to make all forget about her. They weren't successful, which led to a large mob of her fans forming and attempting to save her. They completely failed in their efforts, and were all incinerated by a laser beam, except for one.

That one... was actually one of the very agents that kidnapped Nami, but decided to turn on his superiors, was Vernejule. And this figure before Nami was Muldera, his old partner.

Muldera threw off his hood to reveal his grey hairless face, which looked nearly identical to Vernejule's aside from the larger quantity of wrinkles and stress lines. Underneath the cloak, he still wore his black neatly ironed suit, which paired nicely with the fedora he typically sported.

"Damn Vernejule. The sensors indicate he's here in this world, even though he should be dead. I had to wait two years for the stars to line only for a band of misfits to hijack everything and force me to bring Nami to this world. I suppose that is permissible if she must be in this world for the ritual to succeed, but why were there so many humans amongst the misfits!? Worse, Vernejule is in this world and so are a bunch of streamers and their fans. The last thing I need is a battle when I can no longer use the laser beam, no, even if I could, there are foes here that are immune to it. What trouble. But it shouldn't be long. Once the ritual is complete, victory is achieved," Muldera thought.
