Chapter 9:
Just Chefs
A few days later, Yukito was at work as usual. He was on sauce duty again. Ishigami was on soups, Ling on dicing the ingredients, and Quinn was making a custard.
'OK, I need rosemary for this,' Yukito thought.
As he went to go get it, however, Ishigami was also getting rosemary. They were getting the same spice.
At the same time.
Oh, the trouble that will begin.
The two grabbed the container of rosemary at the same time.
"Yukito, let me have it," Ishigami said.
"Well, I need it right now," Yukito said.
"I also need it right now."
"Well I need it more."
"Yukito, give it."
"Nooo"
"G I V E I T."
"NO IT'S MINE!!"
The two grabbed their respective cooking utencils - Yukito, a laddel; Ishigami, a wooden spoon - and used them as make-shift "weapons".
"I need rosemary for the sauce and you know there's only one container!!" Yukito shouted.
"Oooh, this is gonna be good~" Ling giggled.
"Well, my soup needs it more than your sauce," Ishigami said, not screaming but loudly.
"Should I stop them?" Quinn asked awkwardly.
"Nooo, I wanna see how this goes!!" Ling said, putting her knife down.
"Give it!!" Yukito said, using his laddel to hold Ishigami's wooden spoon in a sort of blade lock, while reaching with his free hand for the rosemary.
"No!" Ishigami said, pushing the rosemary back with his free hand, while also holding Yukito's laddel in the same sort of blade lock.
"Teeheehee, this is gonna be so fun~" Ling giggled while hoping in place. "FIGHT!! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!" She said, cupping her hands around her mouth like a megaphone.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN MY KITCHEN?!?!?!" Screamed a loud, recognizable, British voice.
It was the head chef.

That night, Yukito and Ishigami walked to the bus stop as usual. The head chef had screamed at them both - and a bit at Ling, too - he even called them "raw porkchops". Seems similar to someone.
"Hey, uh, Ishigami?" Yukito said awkwardly. "Sorry about earlier."
Ishigami sighed. "No, it's fine," he said.
Yukito looked at him. "You look mad, though..."
"I'm not, don't worry," Ishigami said, shaking his head. "I accept your apology, Yuki- to. Yukito."
Yukito turned his head to hide his grin. Ishigami had almost called him "Yuki", like they were getting closer.
"Oh right, I wanted to ask you something," Yukito said.
"Hm? What is it?" Ishigami said, stopping and turning around.
"Well, would you be OK with..."
Yukito stopped. He wanted to speak, but nothing was coming out. Literally, he was standing there with his mouth partially open not saying anything. Ishigami just stared at him.
"Be OK with...?" Ishigami repeated, mildly confused.
"OK with uhh..." Yukito said, looking away for a second and fidgeting with his jacket's sleeve.
'Why can't I say anything?' he thought. 'I planned this out last night, and I didn't get nervous then.'
"Would you be OK with being my," Yukito stammered. "My uhm... my boyf- my friend?? No wait that's not what I meant- I meant uh-"
"Yes," Ishigami said.
Yukito looked up. "Huh?"
"I'll be fine with it, I'm sure," Ishigami said calmly.
"Uhm— really?" Yukito asked awkwardly.
"Mhm," Ishigami nodded.
Yukito and Ishigami continued waiting for the bus in silence. They were standing close enough to hold hands, Yukito realized, and he really wanted to properly say what he had been thinking.
It had been about 5 minutes. Maybe more, maybe less.
Then, just as he heard the bus coming by and Ishigami took a step forward, towards the bus—
"Hey, Ishigami?" Yukito said, grabbing Ishigami's sweater sleeve suddenly.
"Yu- What?" Ishigami said, surprised.
"Will you date me??" Yukito finally blurted out. "I mean, you don't have to, but I- that's what I had been trying to ask you earlier."
Ishigami just stared. He started for a few seconds that felt like minutes, but finally he blinked a couple times and said:
"Maybe. Give me a few days."
Yukito smiled and nodded very enthusiastically. "OK, take as long as you need!" Yukito said, having now let get of Ishigami's sleeve. "I still have your number, so when you decide, you can text me!"
Ishigami nodded before getting on the bus.
Yukito sighed and sat down contently on the bus stop bench. Finally, he had said it. Now all he had to do was wait.
Actually...
Now that Yukito thought about it, that would be the hardest part, wouldn't it?
