Prologue

This is my entry for the Honeyfeed Isekai Writing Competition. 

I decided to take a different route with the genre, one I hadn't seen much of—a Gothic-style isekai. I am very much inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, Grimm fairy tales, and classic horror, and referred back to them while writing this. That said, the story explores themes such as death and the underworld, which are prominent throughout, although, as the rating states, it is suitable for all audiences.  

Also! I stated in the notes, but all art (including cover art) is my own. I had initially planned to create a portrait for each chapter in true light novel fashion, but considering the cover art took me around fourteen hours alone, I don't think I will. More than likely, my art will be sprinkled throughout the chapters, so look out for those! I don't have a problem with my art being reposted, as long as my signature and any watermarks remain in place and that I am tagged in some form.
