Chapter 0:

Prologue: A demon's offer

Monstrum

Laying on his bed was a young boy, that didn't find finishing high school important.

He came from his final day of school a few hours ago, but the only thought on his mind was how he would have more time for his job.

He already had two jobs but because of school, there was only so much hours he had for his job. Now that he was done with school he could put in more hours or even take on a third one.

While the boy was in his thoughts he heard a noise coming from his entrance of his house. The house wasn't big, it was actually quite small, so the doorway was only a few feet away. "Old man? Are you back already?" The boy said aloud. Even though the boy knew it wasn't possible that his dad could be home this early, because of work. But in that moment, that was the only thing he could possibly think of.

When there was no reply, he stood up from his bed to check what made that sound. The boy spoke again but this time he wasn't going to hope it was his dad.

"If you're here to rob the place, you might as well go to another house. There's nothing here to take."

The boy was weirdly calm, not because he didn't care about his life but that he knew that he didn't have anything to get robbed of. There was a few things he felt sad getting go of but he knew he didn't need it to live.

Although he was in a bad moment, the only thought that came to mind was:

'Hows dad going to react when he comes home and finds out we've been robbed' The silence was getting heavy over his words with still no response.

Before he could walk towards the source of the noise, he saw something in the corner of his eye.

On instinct the boy turned and got into a fighting position.

The boy spoke, his voice a bit shaky "Who's there?"

"You can calm down, I'm not here to take  ownership of you possessions nor am I here to harm you."

The boy turned to the deep voice that spoke but the figure was covered by the darkness.

"Then why are you here? Besides to do the obvious." The figure laughed softly that the boys words. "Please trust me I'm not here to do everything harmful to you." The voice stopped but after a short moment it spoke again.

"Or your house. I'm here to make you an offer, Lucas valian."

Lucas was surprised by the mention of his name but he still stayed calm.

"How do you know my name?"

The figure laughed again, but this time louder.

When he was done with his laughing fit, the figure moved out of the blanket of darkness and into the moonlight given by the window next to Lucas.

That the sight of the figures inhuman appearance, Lucas' legs started to shake. "W-w-what the hell are you?!" Breaking his calm persona, Lucas in a state of fear, fell to the floor.
The figures feet didn't touch the floor, but rather, he used one large wing to stay in the air.

Long, thin crawls extended from his finger tips.

The rest of the figures quality's were, at the very least, human. He wore a black suit, that didn't look to new. He had slatback dark red hair, giving him a more professional look.

The figure spoke, pulling a hand to his face, visibly upset. "This type of reaction is very normal for you humans but it gets a bit, irritating." The figure took a long breath and spoke again.

"I guess I should explain myself. I'm something you humans call a demon"

Lucas to shocked to speak, stayed silent. The demon used this opportunity to continue his explanation. "I've come to make you an offer of sorts." Lucas slowly regained his composure, getting used to the demons appearance. He swallowed his saliva and spoke.

"Why me? And why would anyone in there right mind take an offer from a demon?"

The demon smiled at Lucas' words

"I know every about you, Lucas valian. The way your mother died when you were just five years of age. How your father and you than to provide for yourselves. The struggle of worrying if you had enough money to survive. It's been a hard life for you, hadn't it Lucas?"

Weirdly Lucas wasn't surprised by the demons information about him.

"So? That doesn't answer my questions. Why me? and why would I ever take an offer from you?"

The demon's smile got bigger as he spoke.

"Because I can take away the burden off your father, is that not want you want?"

The memory of his father coming home tired and hurt, the times his father got sick. Just imagining

his father working and him doing nothing made Lucas sick.

That's the whole reason he got a job. If he could make his father's life easier, he would, even if that means he had to talk to a demon.

"Okay, I'll hear you out, but that doesn't mean I'll actually except, this offer." The demon slowly ascended to the floor "I understand, that will be enough."

"How rude of me, I was so business taking that I didn't introduce myself." The demon dowed down as he introduced himself. "My name is bager, right hand man of the great lord Felix." After a short moment, Bager lifted his head.

"Now then, how about we sit as we talk."

Bager said pointing to the table in the living room (that was right next to him).

Sitting by the table, Bager began explaining his offer in more detail. "As I was saying, I will insure

that your father will live comfortably and safe until his last breath. And in exchange, I want you to do a small errand.

Lucas looked at Bager with a suspicious look. "Errand?" Bager smiled at Lucas' question. "Yes indeed. I want you to go to another world, and

run an errand. I won't lie, this errand will be dangerous, but if you do it thoughtfully, it won't be to big of a job."

Lucas asked another question."How am I supposed to do this errand if I don't know what the errand is?" Bager replyed, his answer clearly

practiced. "You're know when you get there."

"I see."Lucas knew that asking questions won't get him anywhere. Wether if it was dangerous or not, he didn't care. What he truly cared about was his father. "So Lucas valian, do you accept this demon's offer?"

Lucas thought for a moment before answering

Bager. "Yes I accept." The demon smiled, a smile that exposed his sharp teeth, making Lucas weirdly regret his answer.

"A wonderful choice." Bager got up from his seat and walked to towards Lucas. Lucas got up, as well but stayed still. Before Lucas could even react, Bager impaled him with four of his craws.

Lucas' Blood ran down Bagers crawls, and slowly dripped onto the wooden floor as the four craws impaling Lucas lifted him up into the air. "W-w-

why?" Lucas managed to ask. "I do apologize if this is causing any discomfort but this is mandatory."

Lucas coughed out blood from his mouth, as he felt his consciousness slowly fading. Lucas tried to move but his body was limp. His vision started to blacken, as his eyelids got heavier. Though his unspeakable pain, he heard Bager say one last thing. "May your journey be safe, child of war"

And just like that, Lucas valian died.
