Chapter 1:
Light in Abyss
At the top of a mountain, covered in thick mist, stood the siblings Flabeth and Edward Henry.
They watched a small village near the capital of Ulsam, a small country within the kingdom.
— “We’re finally going to put our plan into action against these filthy humans,” murmured Flabeth, staring intently at Edward.
— “When this is over, our mother will finally have justice,” Edward replied.
— “Are you ready?” asked Flabeth.
Edward looked into Flabeth’s eyes and gave a small smile.
— “What a stupid question. I’ve always been ready for this moment.”
In the blink of an eye, they vanished, using teleportation magic.
...
Kael Lanus, a 15-year-old boy, was walking casually through the village with his family.
It was just another day like any other in that place. Nothing new had happened, and most people lived there without any worries.
— “Hey Mom, do we really need to buy clothes? I already have plenty at home,” asked Kael.
— “Of course, son. Those clothes are getting small and worn out,” his mother replied gently.
At that moment, as Kael and his mother headed to the shops to buy clothes, strange noises resembling explosions began to echo.
Everyone nearby who heard the strange sounds began to panic.
— “What are those sounds?”
— “Why are there explosions in the village!?”
Suddenly, a mysterious figure flew into the center of the village and drove a massive sword through someone.
— “Is it going to be this easy? I’m glad to hear that.”
Everyone looked on in terror and froze in shock. Some people vomited, while others couldn’t even move out of fear.
— “Ah? How disrespectful of me, right? Well, my name is Flabeth, and I’m here with my brother, Edward Henry.”
— “Here’s the deal... we’ve decided that humanity is a mistake and must no longer exist. We’re going to kill everyone, and don’t try to stop us!” Flabeth shouted with an angry tone.
Fearing for their lives, everyone around started running as fast as they could.
Leaving behind everything they had built, caring for nothing else, they just ran.
Meanwhile, Flabeth and Edward Henry brutally slaughtered the people trying to escape the place.
Among the fleeing crowd, Kael and his parents ran desperately to survive. They were sure they wouldn’t die — no matter what.
But then, something unexpected happened to them.
— “Hey, you there... How about stopping right there?” Edward said, staring directly at Kael’s parents as they ran.
Kael and his parents froze in terror. His parents, seemingly accepting their fate, stopped.
— “Looks like you listened... Not that you had a choice. I was going to kill you anyway,” Edward said with a wicked smile.
— “Y-You monsters! How can you kill innocent people? What’s this nonsense about humanity being a mistake? Who are you to say such a thing?” Kael’s mother shouted through tears.
— “Who are we? Well, I feel like we have far more authority than you do to decide what’s best for this world.”
— “We’re not monsters. We’re purifying and doing this world a favor.”
— “In fact, you’ve talked too much already.”
Edward moved his finger between Kael’s father and mother’s heads — and they were decapitated.
Kael, seeing this, was horrified. He fell to his knees and began sobbing uncontrollably.
— “Still crying? You’re next, little punk.”
— “S-Shut up...”
— “Huh? What did you say? Say it again,” Edward replied, frowning.
— “SHUT UP, YOU BASTARD!” Kael screamed, leaping at Edward.
— “You really think you can touch me?”
Edward punched Kael in the stomach before he could lay a finger on him.
That punch was so powerful that Kael’s body flew like a leaf in the wind, straight toward a dark, deathly pit.
— “AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!”
Those were the last words he screamed before falling into a bottomless abyss.
— “Looks like this village is done. Flabeth, let’s head to the capital. We’ve got much more work to do!” Edward shouted.
That day would be remembered as the beginning of the worst massacre that world would ever witness.
