Chapter 2:

The Night City

The Devourer of Destiny

The Sky World, which is completely different from the world Mahendra lives in, has many things that are very mysterious. Not only the existence of this world, there were even the four strongest legends whose power was equal to that of the gods.

The Immortal Warrior who was unclear whether he was still a human or not, the half-demon and half-angel Nephilim, the demonic being Azazel who was now incarnated as a human and the Wandering King was a human man who had higher swordsmanship than most warriors and who looked the most normal.

“If you really feel that this is not the world you live in, then perhaps the Wandering King can help you.”
The man whose name was unknown took Mahendra on a tour of the Night city.
"Yes, I see. What about the characteristics?"

"Since we're in the southeast region, we'll definitely meet him if we're lucky. The clothes he wears look shabby but I think it's cool and he covers his eyes with a white cloth, well, even though he's actually blind."
"Blind?"
"If you meet him then you'll know."

True to his word, Mahendra remembered the one man who came up to him just before he collapsed after losing control.
"Don't tell me it was him?"

The Night city was true to its word that it was always night and never morning.

"Hey, is this really the Night city and not hell? I see everyone is a walking skeleton." Mahendra narrowed his eyes in surprise as he looked around.

"What are you talking about? They're all human." This is what he said before finally realizing that something was wrong with Mahendra. He looked at Mahendra's red-colored eyes with sharp pupils closely and then looked at a part of his body that had several black scratches.

"I didn't think you were such a cursed person," the man said with a sigh. He had a sad look on his face.

"What do you mean, me?" Mahendra looked at his body carefully by reflecting in the puddle. He was very surprised because he didn't expect his body to change drastically like this.

"There have been dozens of times when people were cursed. They can only survive for the next 5 years after the curse mark appears," said the man as he looked up at the sky as if questioning the destiny of the young man he had just met.

"But, Mahendra, instead of the Wandering King who might know something about your origin, it is better for you to meet the Destiny Devourer. That way your cursed destiny might just disappear."

Mahendra was silent because he didn't understand. After learning that his body's condition turned out to be this horrible, he didn't even look disappointed but rather astonished.

"It's just that he hasn't appeared for thousands of years. We've also been waiting for him to change the entire contents of this chaotic world."

"What do you mean? No one can change the fate of the world. That's just nonsense. Compared to the Destiny Devourer, I have much more faith in the Wandering King," Mahendra said, glaring at him.

Many things that were difficult to understand made his head hurt even more. Mahendra quickly left to search for the blind man who might still be in the Night City. He hoped the man was still in the city, otherwise he would be in even more trouble.

As Mahendra gazed up at the sky while feeling this slightly calm atmosphere, he began to dissolve into a sadness that even he didn't understand. Unconsciously tears flowed, no matter how often he wiped away the tears that kept falling, they still fell.

"Why am I crying? What a crybaby. Even though my cursed life is no different from the old one, right? No matter where I am, I'm always like a dead person so knowing the real me is pointless, but why do I always want to know?"

Walking for hundreds of steps barefoot, his black clothes almost blended into the night. He had searched long enough. However, the Wandering King was nowhere to be found.

"Who am I? Why am I in this strange world?" He wondered to himself as he looked at his palms which were beginning to be covered in curse marks.

"The next 5 years... I only have this little time."
Not long after, the man came back with a happy look on his face. He smiled while Mahendra frowned in confusion.

"I wonder. Since when have you been following me?"
"Not long after you left."
"Who exactly are you? Are you from the same world as me?"

The man quickly shook his head then replied, "No. I'm not. I'm just a seer in this city."
"A Seer?"

Seeing that Mahendra didn't really believe him, he took a few steps closer and closed his eyes for a moment. What had been a happy face turned into a shocked one.

"This is strange. This is the first time I can't tell a predict," the man said.
The man, who wear simple clothes like ordinary people now claim to be a seer. However, now he admits that he can't predict

Mahendra sighed for a moment before finally saying, "If you can't predict, it's better not to ramble around." Then Mahendra walked past him.

"Hey, I'm not lying! I am truly a fortune teller who is even more powerful than the Seers in the Upper Realms."

Mahendra deliberately ignored all of the man's remarks just now. She thought that maybe the man was a little out of his mind.

"Mahendra, I'm serious!" The man shouted loudly after turning around and approaching him.

"As you wish, Seer!" He exclaimed mockingly. "Then, I want to go find the Wandering King. Where can I find him?" He asked later.

"Oh, he's from the Eastern Region."

It was unknown what time it was, as night never faded in this city. Mahendra had difficulty finding his way, so The Seer escorted him out of Night City.

"I really admire you for not seeming to give up on your fate. I hope you are really lucky."
"No need to be pretentious. I hate hypocrites," Mahendra snapped.
"Hey, I'm not sucking up or anything."

His footsteps rested on a clear puddle, the night sky replaced by a hot afternoon. Mahendra closed his eyes for a moment as he covered his vision with his palms and hoped this was not a dream.

"I've left the city, I don't know about the people around here."

The Night City disappeared as soon as Mahendra left. Then at the same time, the town of Night at that moment began to feel a sense of irregularity.

"Didn't he leave just now? Why did he disappear so quickly?" The Seer couldn't stop thinking, she even thought that the young man's existence was just an illusion.

A man in a robe approached her and asked, "Mr. Seer, why did you venture out alone without any companions?"
"I just met a cursed black-haired person," he replied.

"Are you rambling? I'm sorry, but we don't have guests from any region."
The Seer pointed in the direction where Mahendra had just gone and said, "He's Mahendra, he just went through here."
"Sir? There is only a wall."

Startled, he quickly confirmed whether or not it was a wall behind him and found that it was. In addition to the young man's very strange departure, The Seer again thought for a moment.

"He suddenly appeared and now disappeared. He is also completely unpredictable, as if he is not alive." The Seer muttered softly and then looked at the man in the robe with a smile.

"How many years have we been waiting for a hero to come to change our destiny?"
"Answer, Mr. Seer, it's been over four thousand years."

Then The Seer burst into laughter. He walked back into the town looking up at the sky.

"It is not the heavens, nor the leaders in the upper realms who rule. The destiny of our Night city has finally changed thanks to our hero!" The Seer exclaimed as if she had won a luxurious lottery.
