Chapter 5:

Sidran Gasra's original form

Shadow Exister (volume 1)

With overwhelming rage, the staff—using Dion’s body—charged at Sudirja. Unknowingly, it had walked into a trap. Under the control of the staff, just as Dion surged forward—

Sudirja gave a sly smile.

Just as he had planned.

The staff attacked him, unaware it was falling into a setup. Sudirja had considered testing something: would the staff change its plan if he revealed his own?

And he revealed it directly in front of his target.

"Has your intelligence diminished, Sidran Gasra?" Sudirja taunted. “Oh right, artifacts don’t have brains.”

There was no change.

In fact—it became more provoked.

Three of the glowing blue orbs floating around Sudirja flew forward toward him, meant to act as passive attacks—ones the target wouldn't notice.

And just as planned—

The staff, blinded by rage, didn’t realize it had been struck.

Sudirja moved on to the next phase of his plan—

—he directed all his light swords forward.

To empower them further, he linked the purple aura enveloping his body to the swords. Then he channeled golden lightning into them as well.

The swords grew in size, proving the enhancement was complete.

Meanwhile, the staff remained oblivious. The power of its opponent had increased dramatically. But overwhelmed with boiling fury, it activated a magic circle. A circle bearing the image of a horned tiger’s head, and colored deep ocean blue.

“Sukmo pati roso lan lurohe jagat Sidra,” the staff chanted using Dion’s mouth.

A black sphere appeared—so black it was nearly indescribable. Using Dion’s body, the staff launched it toward Sudirja.

If Sudirja had still been in his past self’s form, he might have died.

But that was no longer the case.

The staff was not facing the Sudirja of the past.

Seeing this, the staff grew even more agitated.

Unsatisfied, it began forming another magic circle using Dion’s body.

Durga la—”

But before it could finish—

A gust of wind——but not an ordinary one.A wind capable of slicing anything in its path—

Forced the staff, still using Dion, to dodge it.

The staff looked toward the source of the attack, seeking its origin.

“That was just a light attack,” Arga said, raising his sword.

“Annoying,” muttered the staff with Dion’s mouth.

“The people are safe now,” Arga glanced at Sudirja and Arjuna. “You two take the skies, I’ll handle the ground.”

Arjuna and Sudirja nodded in agreement.

The staff assumed having only one opponent on the ground would make things easier.

What it didn’t know——was that Arga carried the title "Knight of the Wind."

Arga could move with superhuman speed without using enhancement magic.

His artifact, the sword he wielded, was one attuned to wind. While not forged from shadow particles like Arjuna’s, it had its own power: the sword grew lighter as more wind blew around it, making its strikes faster and deadlier.

Without understanding his opponent's abilities, the staff chose to face Arga head-on.

Arga raised his sword to the sky, letting sunlight coat the blade.

He slashed it down—

—diagonally.

The staff tried to summon a magic circle.

Too late.

A sword of light descended from above, striking hard.

Arjuna aimed his bow toward the sky once again.

He pulled the string and released.

Arrows materialized out of thin air—more and more by the second.

The staff, still using Dion’s body, jumped back.

If it had been human, its body would’ve been in unbearable pain, unable to stand. But it was an artifact.

Still, using Dion’s body, the staff formed another magic circle.

But it failed to realize Arga had activated one of his abilities. Not a spell——a skill.

As long as Arga didn’t touch the ground, he could multiply himself—limitlessly.

And the staff didn’t know—

Arga had already designated a spawn point for his clone—

Right behind Dion.

Arga leaped—

In an instant, his clone appeared behind Dion—

—and kicked him.

Though the staff still held strong, its magic circle shattered due to Dion’s unstable puppet-like posture.

It couldn’t regain control fast enough to dodge Arjuna’s rain of arrows.

Before it could make Dion stand—

From above, Arjuna swooped down toward the staff.

“You bastard!” roared the staff through Dion’s mouth.

Arjuna’s eyes locked sharply on the staff. His thoughts burned with fury.

“Let go of him now, cursed staff,” he threatened.

The staff tried to form another circle with Dion’s body, but Arjuna’s wrath could not be contained.

With a cold motion, he kicked Dion’s body.

The staff realized something—it could feel Arjuna’s negative energy.

But transferring to Arjuna would be suicide.

Arjuna wasn’t just anyone. He was called the Son of Heaven—protected by divine sky energy.

“What is this!?” the staff cried with Dion’s mouth. “Why is my tastiest meal guarded by something I can never defeat!?”

Arjuna aimed an arrow directly at the staff.

Arga raised his sword.

Sudirja prepared his light blade.

Caught between despair and fury, the staff formed another circle using Dion.

Before it was complete—

Arjuna released his arrow.

Arga swung his sword.

Sudirja launched his blazing light sword.

The staff had no choice—it canceled its spell. Using Dion’s body, it jumped back and made the host float midair.

Without hesitation, Arjuna flew toward Dion.

Lightning struck Arjuna—not to harm him, but to strengthen him.

Arga formed a magic circle.

Kan lan suoro dadi loro seng rekso,” Arga chanted.

Without the staff realizing it, a massive wind surged from above.

Arga threw his sword into the sky.

It was caught by the wind—

—and hurled toward Dion.

Arga focused his gaze on Dion’s back.

He marked the clone’s next appearance point.

Then he leaped.

Arga’s clone instantly appeared behind Dion—restraining him.

In that moment, Arjuna struck the staff directly at its tip.
“Don’t you dare mess with me!” the staff roared using Dion’s voice.
Dion’s eyes turned red, and his hair grew wildly——morphing into countless arms.
The staff failed to realize—this too, was part of their enemy’s plan.
“Just as planned,” Sudirja grinned.
Sudirja merged all his light blades.
Arjuna aimed at the sky.
Arga clapped his hands loudly.
Sudirja’s light blade grew immense, glowing a deep, fiery red.
Wind howled across the ground.
The sky turned overcast as Arjuna released his string.
Using Dion’s body, the staff launched an attack on all three foes—using hair-turned-hands.
But those were sliced cleanly—
—by Arga’s sword, now circling in the air around him.
And at that very moment—
All three foes vanished.
What the staff saw was only Arga’s spinning blade. The rest——they had never moved. Arga’s sword had created a barrier of perspective.
That was his trick.
Lightning from the sky struck Dion’s body.
The staff howled in rage.
Arga’s sword was blasted away, but it still floated midair.
On Dion’s back, a pair of blood-red wings formed.
Using Dion’s body—
The staff charged once more.
