Chapter 2:
Hoffen: Life in Another World Without End
Fifteen years have passed, and seasons slipped in a blink of an eye. Tsukiyama—Now Luciel Caelun, a name given by his honorable father, Gerund Caelun, is now immersing himself in books, learning what this world has to offer.
Back on Earth, his hair color was noticeably dark—but now, it has a vibrant orange tint to it, primarily because his father has also the same hair color as his. As for his Mother, Alicia Caelun, she has a striking long, silky, brown-colored hair. A face so beautiful, that it could even rival those of royalty—Or so his father always tells her.
His father then placed his head on his palm, gazing at her wife lovingly. “Why am I this lucky to have a wife this beautiful?” he muttered.
“You never changed dear… always finding ways to tease me!” she retorted. Her cheerful face, slowly turned into a bashful one.
Luciel can’t help but laugh at his parents who were already flirting early in the morning.
And then, his mother noticed Luciel’s cheeky laughter by the staircase. Quickly, she ordered for him to come down for breakfast.
“You must eat your breakfast, my dear son! You have school today!”
“Yes mom… I will…”
Unlike his previous life, he has a very loving family, that truly cared for him. His parents never quarreled intensely, a sweet mother caring for him in every step of the way, and a supporting father, guiding him in each adventure he took.
They were not that rich, nor something would be called poor—Just in the middle of the societal hierarchy, Middle Class, if one were to describe it. His village, called Eledale, is a very peaceful one, full of life, smell of freshly burned apple wood by the chimney, and the sound of a lively market filled the village’s atmosphere.
Though at first he thought it would be hard to find friends in this new world, Luckily, he’s not alone. His friends, who were with him that fateful night—is with him in this world.
From time to time, they played with each other, while also reminiscing about the past they once had.
Kureha, who is now called Lilith Klauzer, is a close friend of Luciel ever since childhood. Not only her, his friends Megumi, Tanaka, and Miyazono, who were now called Cedric Albrecht, Arvan Kreizt, and Anneliese Estelle, respectively, are also his close friends from school.
As Luciel scarfed down the last slice of bread, a familiar knock rang across their household.
“That must be Lilith!” his mother jumped from her seat—quickly packing up Luciel’s lunch for the day. “Don’t forget to guide young Lilith back home as well, Luciel?”
“Yes mom… I’ll never forget that, you know…?”
His father then jokingly asked him, “When will you confess to her, huh my pathetic son?”
“Come on dad… it’s not like that!” a faint blush ran across his face.
“Don’t make her wait, It’s bad to make a young girl wait. Your father learned it the hard way…”
“Don’t make me remember that…”
Luciel then shared a laugh with his parents once more, grateful for their lively presence, making each day brighter.
He then opened the door, and what awaited him was a well-dressed young girl, with sparkling long blonde hair, waving alongside the spring wind.
“Morning, sunshine,” Lilith grinned, hands behind her back. “Took you long enough.”
Luciel then scratched the back of his neck, looking around aimlessly—seemingly confused on where to look, as a blush slowly crept on his pale cheeks.
She then noticed this and quickly grabbed his arm, “Are you blushing, Luciel?” she teased, as she cheekily flashed a smile at him.
“Must be the heat…”
Lilith then giggled, amused by Luciel’s bashful face early in the morning. “It’s not even that hot.” she commented, noticing the weather is not blazingly hot.
“Just shut it for now, or you’ll never get a share of your favorite honey-glazed porkchops from mom!”
“Not my pork chops!”
She then let out another laugh, as they walked along the cobbled path, still damp with morning due, towards their school. The sun peeked between the treetops, casting golden rays along the path. The sound of birds chirping turned the scene even more idyllic than what it was.
“I still can’t believe you bribed me with pork chops…” she pouted.
“What can I say? I learn from the best—my mom!”
She sighed, accepting defeat, “You’re still sly as ever.”
As they walked along the golden-lit path, they can’t help but think about the mysticallity of this world.
Learning about this world, gave them a new perspective to how it operates, compared to the world they once lived in.
Not only are there just humans—like them, there are also other races. Ranging from Elves from the east, Dwarves from the north, and Fairies from the south.
And unlike the tales they once wrote and read—stories where races clashed in endless war—the people of this world lived not in perfect harmony, but in curious coexistence. Not all were kind, but neither were they bound to hatred.
As they approached the gates of their school, Lilith asked Luciel about something: “Are you ready for today’s Entrance Exam?”
“What test?”
