Chapter 9:

Origins of Atron Fiendhearth

Shadow Exister (volume 1)

The sun had fully set, but the battle still had a few threads left untied.
The sealing of the dark artifact was not yet fully complete. The body used to seal Sidran Gasra could not remain under its old name if it were to become truly powerful. Both Arjuna and Arga understood this.
“Your Majesty, do you have a name you wish to bestow to complete the seal?” Arjuna asked through the echo of thought.
“Would you two accept a name I propose?” Sudirja replied, his voice resonating in their minds.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” Arga answered without hesitation.
Sudirja glanced at Arjuna to be sure.Arjuna nodded in agreement.
Sudirja considered using a name from the world he once came from—before he became Sudirja. He thought of a fitting reference. Something tied to the very artifact itself.
“Atron Fiendhearth,” Sudirja echoed into their minds.
That was all Sudirja had in mind.Atron, from atrocity, symbolizing Sidran Gasra’s element—cruelty.Fiendhearth, from the material the staff was made of—the hair of Demon King Semar’s organs.
Without questioning it, the two nodded. Both prepared their magic circles.Arga’s was a purple amethyst-like ring with five stars inside a triangle.Arjuna’s was a sunset-yellow circle shaped like an eagle.
“Lan karmo lan rupo lan rogo lan roso kan asmo dadi rupo nyoto tak gawekno asmo, asmomu Atron Fiendhearth dadio nyoto,” Arjuna and Arga chanted in unison.
When the incantation was complete, Sidran Gasra’s consciousness vanished.
It was replaced by a normal human being, now named Atron Fiendhearth.Arga returned to his human form, and Arjuna dismissed his summoned knight and dragon.
There was nothing left to do in the sky.The battle had ended, and day had passed into night.Arga and Arjuna descended—bringing the child down with them.
The temple’s people had been protected during the battle by Arga’s barrier of wind, which kept them safe from harm. They had waited for the battle to end.
When the three of them returned with a young child, William couldn’t contain his curiosity.
“Who is that child?” William asked.
“Oh, that’s the seal of Sidran Gasra,” Sudirja replied casually.
“The seal?” William tilted his head, confused. A seal in the form of a human child was something he’d never imagined.
“I’m sorry, brother,” the child suddenly bowed deeply, pressing his hands together.
“I forgive you,” William said kindly.
William turned toward Sudirja.
“What do you mean this child is the seal of Sidran Gasra? And why is he apologizing to me?”
“Because I’m the one who developed the magic,” Sudirja explained. “And the reason he’s apologizing is because—although his consciousness isn’t Sidran’s anymore—he retains Sidran Gasra’s memories.”
William tried to understand. The logic was complex, but he did his best to piece it together.
The child approached Dion, who was still asleep on the stone floor. He held Dion’s hand, and tears began to flow.
Sadness filled the boy’s chest. His breath caught in his throat, his heart felt torn.He pressed Dion’s hand to his forehead.
“Father, please wake up!” the boy sobbed.
Hearing the child call Dion "father", William was further puzzled.
“Why is the boy calling Dion his father?” he asked Sudirja.
“I told you earlier, didn’t I?” Sudirja said. “The boy has Sidran Gasra’s memories. Because he consumed Dion’s negative energy, he now regards Dion as his father.”
A moment later, Dion awakened.
In front of him stood a blue-haired boy, holding his hand tightly.
“Father,” the child whimpered.
Dion was stunned, but he didn’t let it show.
“Sudirja, who is this child?” Dion asked.
“He’s the seal of Sidran Gasra,” Sudirja explained.
“Do you… hate me, Father?”the child asked sadly.
Though Dion knew the boy was the seal of a catastrophe, his heart couldn’t bear to see the child sad.
“No, child,” he replied gently.
Dion looked to Sudirja—who knew exactly what Dion wanted to ask.
“His name is Atron Fiendhearth,” Sudirja said.
“You had a name from this world. Why choose a name from another world—a world that might not even exist?”Dion asked.
“I have my reasons,” Sudirja replied.
Slowly, Dion tried to rise.Atron tried to stop him, panic showing clearly on his face.
“Father, please rest. Don’t push yourself!”
“I’m just going to sit, son. No need to worry,”Dion patted Atron’s head and gave a gentle smile.
He then looked toward Sudirja again.Although Sudirja already knew what Dion was going to ask,he waited for the question to be spoken.
“What did you mean when you said temple leaders are considered nobility?” Dion asked.
“Because in the kingdom I rule, the temple is an essential element of the nation’s system,” Sudirja answered.
“What do you mean by essential element?” Dion’s face grew serious.
“In this world, there are no hospitals. Temples function as hospitals here,” Sudirja explained.
Hearing that explanation, Dion was stunned.
How could a term like “hospital” be known by indigenous people?
To Dion, such terms should only be understood by Shadow Existers.
What Dion didn’t know…was that Sudirja was a Shadow Exister—the future version of William, specifically from another branch timeline.
“How do you know the word hospital?” Dion asked suspiciously.
William, who overheard the question, was equally shocked. How could someone like Sudirja know and understand that word?
Sudirja could’ve answered. But with his past self standing there,he chose to stay silent.
“I can’t answer that right now,” he said firmly.
Soon after, the temple people began gathering around, concerned for their temple leader. They asked Dion about his condition, and he assured them he was fine.
He then informed them he had adopted a child.
They all wanted to know who the adopted child was.
Dion stroked Atron’s head to show them—it was this boy.
Curious, they asked Dion about the boy’s background.
After hearing the truth, many of them were displeased. Most harbored hatred toward Atron, but they couldn’t show it.
They feared losing their positions in the temple, so they pretended to be kind toward Atron.
However, their hatred for William was harder to hide.William wasn’t anyone important to the temple, and many saw him as an outsider, perhaps even a collaborator with demons.
They had never considered William to be a Shadow Exister, especially not after the events of that afternoon.
What they didn’t know…was that William was the past version of their own king.
After William left with mister Dadang,Sudirja bowed deeply, hands clasped together,in front of the temple people and Dion.
“Forgive my past self…if he brought danger upon you all,” Sudirja said solemnly.
It was at that moment Dion realized why Sudirja knew the word hospital—and the temple people began to tremble in fear, for they had hated the past version of their own king.
