Chapter 06 : So I Learned The Truth about The Sanctus Dominion

"Hey, are you alright?" Vaelya whispers.

Of course I am not! She whispers, "Don't make any noise. Look, my brother and Miss Zyrra!" Vaelya removes her hand from my mouth. I follow her eyes and take a peek from behind the pillar. 

A bit far from us, Varthion and Zyrra are talking with each other. We can't hear them. But Varthion's smile and Zyrra's shyness while talking are crystal clear. 

I look at Vaelya. She is still looking at them. She seems very excited and happy. Forget those; I watch her instead. I smile automatically looking at her. Vaelya whispers, "They are a good match. Don't you think?" "Yes, of course." I say with a smile. She whispers, "Do you think they are in a relationship already?" "That would be way too fast. I don't have any complaints, though." I reply. She gets more excited and whispers, "Hey, hey! She is touching his horn." "Oh! Really?" I reply. Don't stop what are doing you two. I am having a great time here. 

Suddenly Vaelya's excitement vanishes. She says, "Ah! Zyrra left, and my brother is going to his room." Curse them! Vaelya looks at me. Her eyes widen. She startles and quickly steps back. Vaelya says with shyness, "I am sorry, Hero Agni. Please forgive my rudeness." "You don't have to apologize, Princess. You weren't rude at all. You were just happy. And I am honestly glad that I got to see this side of you." I say with a smile. 

She lowers her gaze. Her shyness is super cute. I am sure that right now, I am smiling like an idiot.

We enter into Varthion's room. Varthion smiles and welcomes us. Then take us to the dining room. I thought the dining room would be gigantic with a long table. But this dining room is a pretty normal one. In the middle of the room, there is a round table with three chairs. I think this is Varthion's personal dining room. 

Varthion's maid served us food. I thought they only ate meats since they are demons. But no. They eat different types of fruits too. I don't have any idea what meat they are eating. So, I avoid eating any meats. Better safe than sorry. Fruits are tasty, though.

Varthion says, "Hero Agni, why aren't you eating any meat?" I say, "I do not feel like eating meat tonight. Some other time, maybe." Varthion says, "Meat gives us raw strength. You should have some." "Not tonight." I say with a smile.

After we finish eating, we return to Varthion's room. We sit on sofa-like chairs. Varthion says, "You have eaten so little, Hero Agni." I say, "Absolutely not, Your Highness. I am full."

- "How can anyone be full after eating only fruits? You should have taken meats."

- "No. I am fine. Another day, maybe."

- "Alright then. And Hero Agni, I have a request for you."

- "You don't have to request, Your Highness. Tell me what you want."

- "I and my dear sister always eat together. And I want you to have meals with us every day. Of course you are free to eat whenever you want. But you have to take the three meals of the day here with us."

I smile and say, "As you wish, your highness. But will Princess be comfortable with it?" Vaelya says, "Of course, I am comfortable. Though I have a proposal, brother." Varthion says, "What is it, sister?" Vaelya says, "Since you two are men. I will be the only woman while having dinner. So, how about I request Zyrra to join us?" We can notice the shyness of the demon king. Varthion hesitantly says, "If that's your wish, then I have no problem." Vaelya says with a smile, "That's settled then. I will ask Zyrra tomorrow morning." Varthion says, "Sure, sister." Vaelya looks at me and smirks. I reply to that with a smirk. 

"Your Highness," a female voice from the other side of the door speaks. Varthion asks, "What is it, Onei?" 

- "Mr. Rigner is asking to have an audience with you."

- "Tell him it's late now. I will talk to him tomorrow morning."

- "He says it's very urgent."

- "Alright then, send him inside."

Vaelya says, "What happened?" Varthion says, "Let's hear what he has to say."

Rigner enters the room. It looks like he ran all the way here. Varthion says, "Hey, what happened to you? Here, have water first." Rigner drinks the water and takes some seconds to recollect himself. Then he says, "Your Highness, they fooled us! They fooled everyone!" Varthion says, "Who? Calm down and tell me everything." 

Rigner says, "Hero Agni told me to analyze the sword of holy knights. I did everything in my knowledge to study it and analyze it. Then I come to know the truth. The weapon is not what they say." Vaelya says, "What do you mean? What's in that sword?" Rigner takes a deep breath and says, "The weapon itself isn't holy. It is enchanted with an anti-magic spell." 

Varthion and Vaelya become paralyzed with shock. Their eyes widen. I ask, "What's that mean?" Rigner says, "They planted an anti-magic spell on the sword. That's why, when the sword cuts an individual and the sword comes into contact with his flesh or blood, it destroys every bit of magic energy in that individual's body. Demons are full of magic energy. Without any magic energy in the body, a demon can't survive. The same goes for other races except humans. Humans have only a little magic. Some don't have any at all. Humans can easily survive without any magic." 

I ask, "What about elves?" Rigner says, "If this sword cuts an elf, he will die instantly. Elves are filled with magic energy." Vaelya says, "Then why don't they attack elves?" Varthion says, "If an elf dies because of this sword, then everyone will understand what is in that sword. Because elves are always treated like the purest life form. If a holy weapon kills an elf, then the weapon won't be called holy anymore. That's why the Sanctus Dominion always chooses nonviolent interaction with elves. And they choose the magicless Dwarf's company to confuse the world. Otherwise someone will point a finger at the Sanctus Dominion." 

A blanket of silence covers us all. I break the silence and say, "Your Highness, I need your permission for something."
