Chapter 14:

Chapter - 14 - The World That Denies Me

The Hero Who Shouldn’t Exist

Smoke rose from the old sanctum as Yoru walked away—Crownless Core pulsing inside his chest like a second heart.

He didn’t sit on the throne.
He stole its meaning.

Now, doubt itself fed his existence.

And the world... was starting to reject him.

Literally.

In the marketplace of Ilysera, a scribe opened his Chronicle of Known Heroes.
A blank page bled through the parchment.
Words about "Yoru" erased themselves before the ink dried.

“Who the hell is—”
He blinked. “...What was I writing?”

Every whisper of his name was unraveling into confusion.
Every memory twisted into denial.

The world fought to forget him again.

But Tsuyoi fed on it.

Yoru was becoming stronger.

Not in secret — but in spite of exposure.

"You want to erase me? Then erase harder."

At night, he stood over a cliff of severed statues—gods long abandoned, their faces worn down by time.

One remained intact: Althea, the Goddess of Light.

She was the patron of the current hero.
The one who killed him in his first life.

Yoru looked up at her stone face.

“You gave him everything. And he threw me into the abyss.”

He summoned Tsuyoi:
A spell twisted from sacrificial memory.

Spell: “Grief Incarnate.”

Dark tendrils lashed from his arms.
They didn’t destroy the statue.

They made it remember.

The cracks reshaped into his face.

The monument cried obsidian tears.

Far away, the current Hero — Elias Solheart — flinched.

His blade shattered in training.

A vision pierced his mind: a forgotten boy in shadow, laughing with sorrow.

“Impossible...”

But the gods said nothing.

They were starting to fear their own script.

Yoru stared at the sky.

No prophecy waited for him.

So he carved his name where gods wrote none:

The World That Denies Me… will soon bow.
